Hello everyone! It’s Kylie with you, on this, Christmas Day. For all of you who celebrate, I hope it’s a lovely time for you all. Today I thought it would be fitting to share a festive layout featuring the new Merry & Bright collection.
Included in this beautiful collection is the Christmas Tree Large Die & Backing Set It is a fast way to bring together a layout thanks to the background being complete already! It even features lovely shading with an effect of mixed media behind it, so all you need to do is add your favourite photo(s) and embellish! I have added some of the Puffy Gold Stars to my tree for some extra sparkle.
From the die cut pack I selected 3 baubles and adhered them to the top right hand corner with foam adhesive. I punch a small hole to the top of them so I could add some sparkly twine through them, finished off by stapling the ends to the top of my page.
My photos were printed in black and white for this particular layout, (mainly because my son had a bright blue shirt on! ….OOPS!) and were adhered to my page with more foam adhesive. More of the cute die cuts were then layered around the base of my photos until I was happy with the balance.
I love how fast this page came together! Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today. I hope my layout has given you a little inspiration for your own festive scrapbooking.
Hi everyone and Merry Christmas! I hope you are all ready for the big man in red to arrive?!
Welcome back to the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! It’s Tarrah back with you today to share a Christmas gift box idea using the gorgeous new Merry and Bright collection.
I found a free pillow box template online, printed it out and traced it onto some vellum. I then used the vellum as my template and scored the pillow box shape onto 3 different patterned papers from the Merry and Bright collection! For the larger stripe one, I used a 12 x 12 piece of paper and the 2 smaller ones, I used the A5 paper pad papers. The A5 paper pad is perfect for projects like this!
I cut and folded the gift boxes and then assembled them together. They are super cute and easy to make! They are perfect boxes to gift money, vouchers, lollies, chocolates, earrings anything small really! I attached some white twine from my stash to each one and chose a tag for each and tied a bow.
For each gift box I added a tag and embellished each tag by adding a sticker or 2 from the Accessory sticker sheet and a die-cut from the ephemera pack. I also layered underneath each tag a die-cut flower for extra decoration. To fill your gift box, you just open one end and add the gift inside and close it back up! Super cute and easy!
Hi all Rachel here! I still can’t believe it is only a few days until Christmas. I have to say I am always disappointed by my Christmas Day photos and never end up with any good enough to scrap and hence why I came up with this layout, a creative way to include lots of photos and journalling all nicely put in envelopes on a layout. I have loved working with the new Merry and Bright collection, it is so easy to create with!
Firstly I cut two envelopes, this scallop envelope from the Silhouette Design store.I used Joy To The World and Jingle All The Way papers for my envelopes. I used Countdown paper as my background paper. I placed the envelopes on a slight angle and over lapping one over the other.
I worked on one envelope at a time, with the left one I added a die cut tree and florals from the Die Cut Ephemera pack from the collection. I tucked under the envelope and added on the actual envelope. Of course I had to add a Gold Puffy Star to the top of my tree! I added a phrase sentiment from the Accessory Sticker Sheet.
On the opposite envelope I added more die cuts, phrase sentiment and one of the gorgeous Flairs. Tucking elements under and over in an embellishment cluster adds visual impact and adds layers to your layout.
The 3×4 inch pocket cards can be used various ways, some of the patterned cards I included as photo mats and others for journalling. You can embellish these of course like tiny layouts.
I added 3 of the die cut baubles hanging from the top of my page, adding machine stitching in the place of ribbon, I added them with foam tape to create dimension, finished off with a gold gem stone on the centres (from my stash).
Here I have added some older Christmas photos, in various sizes in each of the envelopes as an example.
I will use this layout to add some of my Christmas 2020 photos and some memory journalling and all before 2021!
Thank you for stopping by and I wish you all a safe and happy Christmas. See you again in 2021.
It’s Sophie with you today sharing a lovely Christmas themed layout created with the Merry & Bright collection.
I challenged myself to use this gorgeous wreath paper named “Happy Holidays” that I find quite intimidating to work with (I find it stunning by itself..!).
I decided to cut out the inner portion of the wreath. I handstitched the center of the leaves around the wreath with blue thread. I then added adhesive foam behind the wreath and backed it with the beautiful wood grain patterned paper named “ Season’s Greeting”, on which I previously splattered plenty of little drops of white acrilyc paint.
I put the floral cluster of the wreath on the right side of my layout.
My photo is from my little Sabrina in the middle of a baking afternoon, preparing yummy goodies from Christmas ! (and tasting them of course !!).
I added tissue paper and adhesive foam behind the photo before gluing it on my page.
My title is from letters cut out of the “Season’s Greeting” patterned paper.
I also added three beautiful Christmas trees from the same Die Cut pack on the lower left side of the photo and tucked in a Pocket Card to write down my journaling next to the photo.
I think this wood grain paper really stands out from the soft colors of the wreath ! Do you like the end-result ?
Here are more close-ups:
I hope that my layout has giving you a new idea on how to use this beautiful wreath paper !
Hey everyone, it’s Raquel here today sharing a new layout with you featuring the stunning Merry and Bright Christmas collection. I am absolutely loving documenting some Christmas memories lately and getting their stories onto paper.
Here is the layout I have created for you today:
This layout is documenting the love between my two kiddies and their little cousin. This bond has been so strong since he has been born but has grown stronger and stronger by the day. To the point that the kiddies now ask to see each other nearly every day of the week.
The base of the layout is created using my go-to white card stock however I chose to frame the layout with the Star Bright paper – I absolutely adore a gingham print and this one is just gorgeous. Once the base was framed and a border was stitched I worked on my cut file. This particular cut file is from the Cut to You store. I love the design of this and that the stack of presents allow you to incorporate multiple patterned papers into it.
I used a combination of 6×8 paper pad papers and 12×12” designs. I backed each present as a single print design making this process a little easier. The holly and berries were using a patterned paper however that gorgeous red design in the berries was made using one of the 3×4 cards in the Journaling cards set.
I backed the photo in my fave print of the collection the Jingle all the Way paper – I have always loved a diagonal stripe and this one is just truly gorgeous. The bonus is that we can have this in the 6×8” paper pad and the 12×12 paper! To the approx 3×4” photo I also added a ‘sweet’ tab from the ephemera pack. I also fussy cut flowers from the Joy to the World paper to cluster to the top left of the photo.
I always love to document a story on my layouts, however the design of this layout and how it turned out while I was creating allowed little room for a lot of journaling. So I decided to use on of the pocket cards to create a tag to add my story to. I then hid that behind the photo making sure to only adhere on the edges.
To help balance the layout it needed something in the top right corner. I created an embellishment cluster featuring ephemera and a fussy cut holly and berries. I also added wood veneer stars from my stash.
How adorable are the florals in every Cocoa Vanilla Collection? I love the way we can layer and embellish a layout using the florals that have been fussy cut. I know fussy cutting isn’t for everyone, but boy the extra florals to have as embellishments are sure worth the while of fussy cutting.
I have tried on my last few layouts to use the cute Santa head and larger Christmas tree ephemera piece. They finally found their home on this layout….I love how they look on this layout. Although they are a larger embellishment, I do not feel like they overtake or take away from the focal point of this layout which is of course my photo.
Thanks so much for stopping by the CVS blog today. I hope that you have been inspired by this layout.
Wishing you and your family a safe and healthy Christmas and New year. I will see you in 2021 with a new layout. I don’t know about you but I am hoping for a much better, and happier 2021 … fingers crossed
Hey Creative friends, Gwen back on the blog today with some more Christmas inspiration using the ‘Merry and Bright’ collection. For this page, I thought it would be fun to scrap this black and white photo of my daughter and drew inspiration from that sweet little present she has there in her lap.
To start the page, I’ve created my background using the ‘Star Bright’ and ‘Happy Holidays’ pattern papers. I’m going with another central design for this page (I’ve been on a bit of a kick with those of late) To ground my photo I’ve cut out a cut file from CUT to YOU nice and large and then backed it. To back the cut file design, I’ve used the ‘A5 Paper stack’ where possible as I wanted the smaller prints of the paper designs.
I’ve added a mat to my photo also using paper from the ‘A5 Paper stack’ and then added stitching around the edge and popped it up on some foam tape for dimension. I’ve also added stitching to the edge of my background for a sweet detail.
For the title of my page, I’m using the ‘Merry and Bright’ element below which has been fussy cut from the ‘Oh What Fun’ pattern paper. This pattern paper has so many fun elements on it you can use to embellish your pages and I’ll be adding some more from this one as well which you will see below.
With my title and photo locked into position, it’s time to embellish. For this, I’ve taken floral pieces from the ‘Die Cut Ephemera’ pack as well as a Flair button. I’ve also added in a cute banner piece with Holly on it (shown above) which was cut from the cut-apart sheet.
I’ve also added in two of the ‘Gold Puffy stars’ from the collection and some Enamel Dots which are from the ‘Tis the Season’ collection.
To finish the page, I’ve taken a little dive into my stash and found a ‘Woodies button’ from the ‘Free Spirit’ collection as well as some typed sentiments from the ‘Colour Me Happy’ Collection and another Wooden Veneer piece that says ‘memories’. I have been on a bit of a stash busting kick as well of late so it was nice to get a few older pieces into this layout and mixing and matching them with brand new supplies.
You can also watch me create the layout below:
I hope you are getting some creative time at the moment, I know it can be a busy season. If not, be sure you’re taking lots of photos! xo
Hey y’all! Laura Alberts here with a fun Christmas layout featuring the stunning Merry & Bright collection! I have been dying to use this Countdown paper as a background since I first saw it, such a fun idea for a patterned paper! I layered several papers over the center squares to give it the look of grid layout, then added my photos and as many florals as I could fit! Clustering florals can be tricky, but I find if you start with larger florals first, then nestle in the smaller ones, it’s a much easier process.
In order to blend in the fact that I’d covered the numbers in the center, I used the cut apart page from the A5 paper stack to cover three additional numbers. This way the gap looks intentional and draws less attention. Another quick tip is to add small embellishments to the existing squares, like this little “Oh What Fun” banner onto day 22.
To finish off this layout, I added tiny florals around the cluster as well as Nuvo drops in gold for a controlled splatter effect. I also added two flair badges to break up the array of florals and give them a little bit of interest. This ends up being my favorite addition to the page in the end!
I hope the design of this layout inspires you to look at your photo placement a little differently! It’s fun to see how you can change things up with a patterned paper background. If you’d like to see the Memories layout come together, I have the entire process in the video below!
Hey crafty friends, Anita with you today sharing a Christmas layout using the merry and bright collection
Each year I like to take a bunch of close ups of new little Christmas ornaments hanging on the tree I think it always great to document because we don’t always decorate our tree the same each year but I’m totally in love with these cute heart ornaments…
I chose another I created and decided to scrap lift myself and this gives you the opportunity to use the same design but with different products and colours
So I started off with my white cardstock background and pulled out some pattern paper from the 6×8 I then trimmed a strip off one side then using a border punch I punched 2 decorative edges on both pieces and added the on opposite sides of the background then using the pink pattern paper from the 6×8 I cut another 2 strips just a little shorter and tucked them just underneath the first bits of pattern paper
Then I matted my photo on more pattern paper from the 6×8 and added a doily behind to add softness and texture then I adhered it down on the right hand side just overlapping both bits of pattern paper then next I pulled out a bunch of ephemera die cuts and tucked them in the photo layers and clustering them on the right hand side of the photo I then add my title and sub title thickers and a accessory stickers
I then added another cluster of ephemera and flowers on the left hand side and added the puffy gold stars in the clusters and on top of the Christmas tree to add a gold touch then to finish it off i did some stamping with some tiny stars with gold , added some gold threads to my tag and a few pearls from my stash in the Centre’s of the flowers.
Happy holidays everyone I hope you have enjoyed my Christmas inspiration today…
Hi there crafters! Today I am excited to share a layout with you that I created using the incredible Cocoa Vanilla Studio ‘Merry and Bright’ collection. I really wanted to do something creative with the Large Die Cut & Backing Kit – I had already used the die cut on a previous layout, so I wanted to play with the backing section for this layout.
With the die cut removed, the backing paper still has the geometric pattern of the tree with the outline on the paper, providing a perfect guide for some hand stitching. This is one of my absolute favourite techniques – I just love the texture and dimension it brings! The pattern made is so simple to pierce the holes, I simply followed the outline of the tree with my piercing tool. I then went in with some lovely deep green embroidery thread and added a chain-link stitch all around the border of the tree. So striking!
Next I was inspired by the gorgeous watercolour effect on the background paper, so I pulled out my own watercolours and added some extra trees. These trees are so simple to paint and require very little painting skill; simply make a few messy strokes and you’re done! I used a few different shades of green to add depth and dimension.
I matted my photo on some pink paper from the A5 paper stack to soften the edges. My photo is of a beautiful lighted tree we found in a field nearby our house – just the perfect photo for this layout. I took one of the 3×4 pocket cards and fussy-cut the ‘Christmas Memories’ sentiment to use as my title, I love the script font.
Next I used a mixture of die cut ephemera and fussy cut florals to create small embellishment clusters either side of my photo. I also added the little die cut ephemera sleigh, plus a tag and some more florals, below my tree. I just love the whimsy of this little cluster, so sweet!
For finishing touches I used some tiny word phrases from the accessory stickers around my photo, and of course I just had to add on of the adorable puffy gold stars to the top of my tree! I added a few lines of journaling in grey pen below my photo, and with that my layout was finished.
I really hope you enjoyed this one, it was an absolute joy to make and I just love it. There is a process video linked below for you to watch as well. Happy scrapping!
Hello Cocoa Vanilla fans. It’s Anna here today with another inspiration made with this year christmas line called “Merry and bright”. I already used this collection to make advent calendar for my kids and I can’t tell you enough how much I love it. It’s fresh and fun, with great patterns, that can be also used throughout the year, not only for christmas projects. I reached for last year photos and printed them in the row so they look a little bit like a film strip from the photo booth.
Next step was to cut out words from paper “Season’s greetings“. I focused on the ones with bigger font and arranged them on the back side of the same paper. I love using wooden patterns as my background. I only added glue on the middle of each letter for a little more texture. To make sure they won’t fall out, I added stitching with my sewing machine.
Gaps between the words are filled with elements from ephemera pack. This is always my favorite type of embellishments – very versatile, easy to use and lasts for a long time. I mounted them using 3D foam to add more texture.
This is a really simple page and you do not need any special skills to make similar one. Just a good scissors and a little bit of patience. You can cut out letters in advance wbile watching TV. You can also mix the letters creating your own title for more whimsical look.
I finished my page adding flair button and pretty, shiny fabric stars. I am totally in a festive mood and can’t wait for the christmas to come for another opportunity to snap new photos for even more scrappy fun. I will see you again after christmas so I wanted to wish you all merry and bright holidays. I hope you will spend them with the ones you love.
