Our INCREDIBLE Kid | Legendary | Michelle Stokes

Hello Hello! It’s Michelle back again for one more scrappy share this month because I couldn’t end the month without sharing one more layout using the awesome Legendary Collection! This one was so fun to create, I even enjoyed all that intricate fussy cutting

I started with 2 pieces of the amazing aztec mandala inspired pattern paper – EXPLORER. I fussy cut the outer ring and inner star (which ended up being covered up) from one piece of the pattern paper, then on the second piece I cut only the middle section of triangles on 2 sides so that they would pop up. I then sandwiched it all together with some white cardstock as per below

Bottom layer – cardstock

2nd layer – full pattern paper piece with only the triangles cut in the middle ring and popped up using raised glue dots

Top layer – outer ring and inner star shape adhered with foam tape

Next I worked on the photo and journalling in the centre of the layout. For this I used a piece of the reverse EXPLORER paper combined with a frame from the EPHEMERA PACK, and cards cut from the TOTAL LEGEND & EPIC TALES cut apart papers. These are layered together with the photo and adhered to the layout using foam tape.

I created the title using words from the DIE CUT TILES pack and an EPHEMERA piece

To the right of the middle cluster I added pits from the EPHEMERA PACK, ACCESSORY STICKERS sheet and EPIC TALES paper

And lastly added clusters of stars (my 2nd favourite design element after florals) to the top right and bottom left of the layout to create a diagonal effect. I also added a few enamel dots and splatters of gold colour shine to finish it off.

Life is Good | More Than Words collection | Anna Blades

Hi CVS friends! This Is Anna and I’m so thrilled to be here today sharing my first layout with you! It’s awesome to be part of the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Design Team!

I’ve made this scrapbook page using the beautiful More than words collection and the Unforgettable freebie cut file.

I decided to use this photo that I took of my friend Monica with her daughter because the colors were perfect for these papers.

For the base of my layout I used the B side of the pretty Collage paper. It makes contrast with the bright floral paper.

Then I ripped two strips from the Darling Buds paper and I placed them up and down of the page. I also put a ripped strip vellum between both patterned papers.

I filled both sides of this “central path” with the flowers that I cut with my Silhouette Cameo.

For my main title I used the white chipboard titles, and I inked it by making a pink ombre. It was so easy because of the smooth texture of the chipboard.

On both edges of the page I sewed two thin strips from the 6×6 pad Treasure paper.

 

The page is pretty busy, so I didn’t use a lot of embellishments. Just two chipboard butterflies, a banner die cut, a sticker phrase and a heart-shaped enamel dot.

Super Hero | Legendary Layout | Anna Komenda

Hello CVS Friends. It’s Anna here with another project made with brand new “Legendary” collection. This line is so easy to work with and you have to believe me as I am not used to using masculine lines. I made this page in about 30 minutes which is almost a record for me. “Legendary” is a very colorful collection with almost all colors from the rainbow in it. However this time I decided to focus on yellow, orange and blue. I took those colors from the picture of my cute nephew.

I started with white background and some colorful splatters made with mists. It’s such an easy and fast way to add some unique touch to your pages. Second step was to pick three patterned papers and cut them into pieces. I also added decorative edge made with border puncher. If don’t have any, you can just tear off the edge of paper to add a little bit of mess.

Next step was to add photos over the layered papers and some title made with amazing product – Die cut titles. You have so many words to choose from and they are designed the way, you can also make longer phrases.

I love adding simple shapes to my projects and “Legendary” collection has great set of stars in various sizes and colors. I choose three bigger ones from Ephemera pack to create a visual triangle. I also added small stars from Clear stickers set and added them here and there.

I finished my page with few ephemera pieces, mostly tags and tickets, and few enamel dots. I am so happy how it all turned out. Tt will be a perfect addition to the gift for upcoming birthday of this little super hero.

Stay Unique | Happiness Collection | Melissa Vining

Hello everyone, its Melissa with you today and I’m so excited because its my first post for CVS!! I’ve created a layout with the gorgeous ‘Happiness’ collection because my Legendary is somewhere in transit, slowed down by the COVID-19 global pandemic. I used the Large Die Cut & Backing Set and decided to be bold (for me) by chain stitching the heart in back embroidery floss.

The photo is of our gorgeous yet cheeky 3 year old daughter Ava.  I’ve been having some fun with the filters on Instagram, and I was so happy that she stayed still for a couple of seconds for me to take this sweet photo.  I used an Instagram Filter and it turned out so sweet! The equivalent photo of me – not so much!!!

The chain stitching took me hours to complete but was worth it for the texture it added to my layout.  I just worked on it in the evenings while I watched Netflix.  I ended up getting into quite the rhythm, and found it very relaxing!

I don’t have much of this collection left because I love it so much, so I embellished with some fussy cut butterflies from both the 12×12 paper and the 6×8 paper stack, resulting in two different sizes of butteries. I created an embellishment cluster around my photo with layered and distressed papers, vellum, stickers and die cuts. I added dimension with craft foam and pop dots.  My final touch was to add Nuvo Dream Drops in Gold Luxe, and some black mist splatters.

Hello Sweet Smile | Throwback Thursday – Midnight collection | Michelle Stokes

Hello Crafty Friends its Michelle back here today with another instalment of Throwback Thursday. For this creation I was given the task of using one of our more recent older collections, if you could call them that HAHA. I chose to create something with the Midnight collection as that is one that I haven’t touched for a little while. I focused on using the Large Die Cut without the backing sheet which you can find HERE in the store

I started the layout by removing the die cut from the backing sheet – its lightly adhered so that you can remove and create your own way. I used similar patterns and colours to what is already on the backing sheet along with some vellum and left the outer rim open. I then adhered it to the INSPIRED pattern paper using foam tape. I LOVE the mixed media effect this pattern paper gives a layout which is perfect for this ‘clean’ scrapper.

I layered a couple of frames from the ephemera pack with a piece of pattern paper to create a base for my photo, then added multiple ephemera pieces and stickers to create one large cluster under the title.

At the top left of the layout I added a some florals from the sticker and ephemera packs, a couple of enamel dots, heart and tab sticker.

I replicated similar items along the bottom right to create a diagonal effect on the layout.

Lastly a sprinkling of my favourite gold colour shine to finish it all off.

Thirteen | Legendary | Kylie Kingham.

Hello everyone! It’s Kylie with you again, back with another layout featuring the ‘Legendary’ collection.My son is having a birthday very, very soon and I wanted to create a page capturing him at this age.You will see I have incorporated a ‘Thirteen’ cut file into my background. This has been designed by Paige Evans.

I’ve layered papers ‘Wild One’ and ‘Total Legend’ together to create a framed background. I also drew a free hand border close to the edge with a black fine tip marker. I ended up cutting the ‘Thirteen’ cut file three times to add to my background. These were backed with some of my favourite coloured papers from the collection, before being adhered to the background with foam tape. By doing this, helped make them look like they were ‘floating’ on my background.

With so much going on in my background, I really didn’t feel I needed to add a lot of embellishments to support my photos. A few colour co-ordinated stars were tucked in behind, as well as some of the phrase quote stickers which act as a smaller sub-title, supporting my photo theme. I also couldn’t resist adding in one of the fun Flair Buttons.

To finish my layout I added in a few small clusters of the enamel dots, which just provided a nice balance to my photo cluster.

Epic | Legendary Collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi friends,

It’s Tarrah back with you today to share a new layout using the awesome Legendary collection!

I love how versatile this collection is, it can be used for boy projects, travel projects and even girl projects! Make sure to check your local or favourite online scrapbook store and get your hands on it!

I started out by trimming some of the papers into a few different sizes and arranged them on a white cardstock background. I chose the white arrow paper to feature my photo and some of the main embellishments. My photo is one of my eldest son looking handsome and going to his Year 6 farewell night a few years back.

 

 

I love the star die-cuts in the ephemera pack, I added the grey ones in 3 places to create a visual triangle on my page. I like how this takes your eye around the page. In between 2 of the stars I added some of the clear sticker stars, I like how this adds a bit more impact to the die-cut ones.

Inside the large grey star, I added one of the large circle Authentic die-cuts, I used craft foam underneath it to raise it up, I like how it gives it shadow and dimension. I also added the ‘Epic’ die-cut title below my photo, this became my title for my page. The flairs are awesome in this collection so I added the ‘Let’s Go’ one on this page since the photo is my son getting into the car! I also added the ‘Admit One Adventure Pass’ ticket just above the flair also.

Tag Flip Mini Album | Legendary | Rachel Lowe

Hi CVS friends today I have a mini album to share which I created for my sons up and coming 18th birthday. This album is a tag flip album inside an album cover, inspired by Lorilei Murphy (@roseposey_studio). My album is created using the awesome new collection Legendary. I will add my photos later.

To make the album cover cut a 10×5 inch strip from BRAVE HEART paper. Cut another strip at 3×5 inches from the ALL STAR paper. Using a bone scorer, score the larger paper strip at 4.5 in from the edge and then do the same from the other side which leaves the centre fold at 1 inch. Score the smaller strip at 1 inch both sides. Before attaching binder strip I added machine stitching to the edges of both paper strips. I then embellished the cover keeping in mind the theme for my son.

I punched a whole in the centre of the back album cover and added an eyelet for strength. So I could add more photos and a letter for him I added a envelope to the inside using the ALL STAR Paper, adding a velcro dot so it would stay closed and finished off adding a die cut from the EPHEMERA pack and an ACCESSORY STICKER.

Now its time to create the tag flip. I first chose the papers I want to use and journal cards from the EPIC TALES paper (I used both sides for the album pages) and added machine stitching to all of them to add texture and visual interest. I created another cover so to speak, 18 Legendary (perfect!).

Some of the ephemera die cuts I used I added stitching to them, like this star, it really adds a wow factor. I hand cut some tags to vary the paper shape and sizes. I also used foam tape to create a 3D effect.

The largest paper strip for tag album is 3×4 inches so it fits perfectly inside the cover.

Not all pages have spaces for photos, they are inspirational quotes for my boy!

I used some of the paint brush strokes from the CLEAR STICKERS on some of the white background paper strips to add a little mixed media feel.

I cut 2×2 inch paper strips as frames for my photos when I add them. You can see I used the ACCESSORY sticker sheet to add word and phrase sentiments.

I added FLAIRS and ENAMEL dots from the collection for finishing touches.

The other papers I used for the tag pages were WILD ONE and TOTAL LEGEND.

Rad Robot | Legendary collection | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone!

Sue Plumb here to share another design team project using the brand new ‘Legendary’ collection with you. Today I am sharing a 12×12″ layout I created to document some photos of one of my boys and the awesome Lego robot he made with his dad. Building Lego is one of the activities they really enjoy doing together and I love seeing what they come up with. I couldn’t resist snapping some shots of this robot, it was very impressive!

I began my layout with the reverse side of the Brave Heart paper which features a fabulous painty style pattern. I then stacked a variety of pieces taken from the Wild One; One Way; and Explorer papers to define the focal area of my page and form a mat for my photo. These were topped with the strip featuring black and white arrows that was cut from the Total Legend cut apart paper.

Once the papers were in place, I added some lines of black machine stitching to help define the horizontal structure of the stack and also add some extra visual interest. I also added a rough stitched border around the outer edge of the page to help connect the background with the foreground, before adding my photo on top of the paper stack.

Now it was time to turn up the fun factor by adding some embellishments. (I usually have trouble deciding which pieces to use when I receive a new collection, as there are always so many to choose from.)

I began to the left of my photo, creating a small cluster using the die cut geo bear and a star from the Die Cut Ephemera pack, as well as a few Enamel Dots.

To the right of my photo I created my title cluster using the round frame and another star from the ephemera pack; the word RAD from the Die Cut Titles; a few enamel dots; and some small alphabet stickers I had left from the Made of Awesome collection. For an little extra pop of colour I also added the orange paint splat from the Clear Sticker set.

I created a third small cluster (because – visual triangle and rule of threes!) above my photo using the tag and phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet; with the small die cut flag layered over the top. I brought further balance to my page (and my mind) by adding an extra die cut star below my photo, which completed my secondary visual triangle.

I also created a small cluster for my journalling at the top of the page to counteract the fact that my page was so “bottom heavy”. The label and the strip of stars both came from the Epic Tales cut apart paper. I then finished off my layout with some black stamping using texture and phrase stamps and a few well placed tiny staples.

Super Star | Legendary collection | Tazhiana Gordon

Hello Cocoa Vanilla friends and welcome to my second project with the Legendary collection! Today, I decided to stretch my creative muscles and scrapbook a photo of myself after my pinning ceremony – that felt pretty legendary if I do say so – and to create a rainbow! The colors in this collection are super saturated so it was perfect for this type of project.

I started with a rainbow cut file I had in my hoard of cut files and backed it with some of the papers from the collection – luckily the cutfile only had five swatches for color so I was able to make a pretty convincing rainbow with the papers in the line. After backing my cut file and my clouds, I tore one of the patterned papers to create the illusion of sky and layered a few clouds in the background on foam for more interest and dimension. Then it was time to work on embellishing!

For this layout, I did something I rarely do – I stuck down my title first! I knew I wanted my title to be Super Star and that I wanted to scatter stars across my page so it just made sense to do it that way. I created a cluster using some ephemera and propped up part of my title on foam stickers for added dimension. I really loved the medal that said “certified legend” so of course that went into my cluster and I added an extra few stars to repeat the theme.

I chose to mat my photo on one of the more colorful sheets of paper to repeat the paper in the background and created a cluster around it using a mix of the die cuts and cardstock stickers on the other end of my rainbow. I love the flow of the page with the rainbow connecting the left and right side of the page – it makes the whole layout feel super fun!

Finally, to help me balance some of the white space, I tore an edge on the bottom of my paper, added a bit more patterned paper and a few bits of ephemera to add some color and pop at the bottom of the layout. A few enamel dots sprinkled across the page completed this layout!
