Beautiful You | Wild At Heart collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I have a new layout for our regular Throwback Thursday feature using the gorgeous Wild At Heart collection!

I chose the gorgeous pink and orange ombre paper as my background paper and decided to cut out a floral cut file from CUT to YOU from white cardstock. I then took the dark floral paper from the Wild At Heart collection and backed the flowers in the cut file. I chose one of the teal journaling cards to back the leaves with, I love how this turned out!

Once I finished backing the cut file, I added craft foam underneath and adhered it in the centre of the ombre background paper. I love the shadows and dimension this gives my layout. I adhered the photo of my darling niece right above the floral cut file overlapping it a little. Next is the fun part of embellishing! On the right of the photo I adhered the Hello flair button and the small purple floral die-cut piece. I also tucked in under the cut file a larger floral on the right too.

Below the photo I adhered a phrase die-cut, a pink phrase chipboard piece, the bow die-cut and an accessory word sticker. On the left there is a wood veneer heart, a die-cut heart, a tag and another larger floral tucked in under the cut file. At the top of the photo I added some more accessory stickers. Lastly I adhered a few of the die-cut butterflies around the page.

I so love how my layout turned out using the Wild At Heart collection…I hope you are inspired to get your Wild At Heart collection out and create with it?!

Love These Days | These Days collection | Sophie Delorme

Hello Cocoa Vanilla friends !

 

Sophie with you on the blog today sharing this new layout created with the beautiful “These Days” collection.

 

 

My focus today was to use the A5 Paper Stack. Ohh this was fun !!!

 

Here is a look at my process;

 

This frame paper is really what got me started. I fussy cut plenty of those cute little frames and I knew that I wanted to incorporate them on my page.

 

 

I selected 3 other A5 patterned papers and printed my photo in black and white. It’s actually a selfie that Sabrina took while trying to cuddle our dog !

 

 

I teared the 3 patterned papers and planned to align them on the bottom of my layout.

 

 

I also played with some Lindy’s Stamp Gang magical powders to create a soft mixed media background on a thick white cardstock as shown here:

 

 

 

Then, I tied everything together. I added tissue paper and adhesive foam behind my photo. I layered the 3 pieces of patterned papers, stitched them down and curled them a little bit for more dimension.

 

I mounted most of the frames on adhesive foam and placed them in a horizontal design around my photo.

 

 

I decorated each of them with different elements from the collection; Accessory Stickers, Die Cut Ephemeras, Floral Ephemeras, Wood Epoxy buttons and Puffy Stickers. My title is from the Clear Stickers that I first sticked to white paper and fussy cut.

I love you to pieces | These Days Collection | Raquel Bowman

Hi everyone, firstly…..Happy Father’s Day to all those special people in everyone’s lives!

Today on the blog I want to focus in on the amazing A5 paper pads that are now available with most CVS collections. However, I was feeling sentimental about the day that it is today so I have created a layout featuring my man and the dad to my two kiddies.

This man is truly amazing as a father and a husband who I really look up to ….  and in these times, that are so hard for us all it is so important to appreciate and acknowledge those who make such a positive impact in our lives. To say thank you…I love you… or to pay it forward with a kind gesture.

Here is the layout that I created today to share with you:

What I love about the A5 pads is that the designs we all love on the 12×12 designs are printed smaller on the pads. Which means, when you are backing small parts of a cut file, the printed designs fit within like they were meant to be.

 

The subject of my layout as mentioned previously is my husband . I used a new cut file from ‘CTY’ Cut to You to create days layout. I had already printed photos in my stash to fit within the file but I am guessing that these would be 2″x2″ pics.

Since we’re focusing on the A5 pads I wanted to show you how great the smaller prints revert to a smaller cut file. The process may take a while but it is so worth it. I know there are an abundance of YouTube videos of creators who do this same thing on their layouts.

I used the ephemera pack and floral ephemera to embellish to the side of my photos. I used three of the wood buttons too!

 

The ‘you have my heart’ was a perfect addition to this layout. This was from the 12×12 cut apart paper.

 

I used a combination of regular adhesive and foam adhesive to adhere the main elements to the layout.

PICTURE PERFECT | THESE DAYS | GWEN WRUCK

Hi Creative Friends,

Gwen with you on the blog today sharing a new layout using the ‘These Days’ collection.  For this layout, I’m documenting a fun photo of my daughter recently taken on a Farm Stay mini holiday.  This collection is super sweet and so fun to use for wonderful little moments like this one.  I’m feeling a little bit country-vibes for this layout.

To begin my page, I have chosen a cut file from CUT to YOU, and then used the ‘A5 Paper Stack’ to back it.  I’ve started with the banner piece of the cut file. The design was a little longer than A5 so I’ve added paper behind the left and right sides of the banner leaving a gap in the centre, this works out fine as this is where my photo will be placed.  I’ve then used the pretty peach exclusive pattern to back my flowers and a pretty green leaf print for the leaves.  I used this same green pattern paper to back my photo.

**TIP – The prints in the A5 paper stack are perfect for backing cut files and creating thin photo mats as the prints are smaller than those on the 12 x 12 pattern papers. This smaller print allows you to see the design even when using them in small pieces.

To create my background I’ve used the ‘Pretty Posies’ pattern paper for my layout edge and the ‘Neighbourhood’ pattern paper for my background.  The black and white print was a little busy for underneath my cut file, so I’ve added a layer of vellum from my stash to soften it.  I love the look of vellum, it’s such a soft element to add to a page.  I love too how the print of the pattern paper still shows through; very dreamy.

It’s now time to embellish.  I’ve gone with a large cluster (including my title) to the left of the photo and then two supporting clusters, one on the top left of my photo and the other on the bottom right of my photo.  I’ve used pieces from the ‘Die Cut Floral Ephemera’ as well as the ‘Die Cut Ephemera’ pieces to create the layers in my clusters and title.  The die cut piece that says ‘Picture Perfect Moments’ was perfect for my page.

For dimension and texture, I’ve added in elements from the ‘Puffy Stickers’ and three ‘Wood Buttons’.  I’ve finished off the page with several of the sentiment stickers from the ‘Accessory Sticker Sheet’ added with 3D foam adhesive.

Happy Holiday Memories | Sunkissed Collection | Mandy Melville

Hello CVS friends!

It’s Mandy here on the blog today to share a new layout using the gorgeous Sunkissed collection. I was in the mood to create something bright, colourful and happy, so what better collection to use than Sunkissed! I chose to document a couple of photos of my youngest daughter enjoying the waterslide on a holiday that we took earlier this year. I love the way that the colours in these beautiful papers and embellishments complement those in the photos!

I started my layout off by trimming down a sheet of white cardstock to 8 inches wide, and adhering it to the Good Vibrations patterned paper. To add some further detail and interest, I used a border punch on two strips of the the blue Bright Side paper, and tucked the strips under each side of the white cardstock. I also added some machine stitching along the two sides of the white cardstock, as I love the texture that stitching gives to a page.

Next I matted my photos using the reverse side of the Summer Lights paper and adhered them towards the bottom half of the page. I used craft foam to adhere the photo on the right to give it some added dimension.

If you know me, you know that I love to include lots of florals on my layouts, so of course I couldn’t resist fussy cutting some of the beautiful floral clusters from the Growing Wild patterned paper to use on my layout. I added one at the bottom of the page, to fill in the corner where the two photos meet. I also added one of the cute Wood Epoxy Buttons to the centre of one of the flowers.

I created another little embellishment cluster above the photo on the right using a cloud die cut and another fussy cut floral cluster.

For my title I couldn’t go past using one of the gorgeous Glitter Foam Title Stickers! I combined the word ‘happy’ with the little word sticker that says ‘holiday memories’ to complete my title.

I wanted to create one more embellishment cluster on the layout in order to complete the visual triangle. I added this one at the top of the page above the title. You’ll notice that I’ve positioned the clusters in such a way that the photos are within the visual triangle, and this helps to direct the viewer’s eye to the photos. I’ve also positioned them so that when your eye follows them down the page, they mimic the curve of the waterslide in the photos. In this cluster at the top of the page, I’ve again included some fussy cut florals, along with a few Die Cuts and another Wood Epoxy Button.

To finish off the layout, I sprinkled around some of the tiny little hearts from the Puffy Sticker pack, as well as the gold glitter foam hearts, and a couple more little word Stickers.

Paperclip Mini Album | These Days Collection | Danni Visser

Hi Cocoa Vanilla fans! Danni here with a little paperclip mini album using the 3×4 pocket cards from These Days collection. This was super easy to make and looks so cute! I have been struggling with documenting lockdown memories, so I decided to focus on all the positive moments from the first half of last year. The cozy, homey elements from These Days were absolutely perfect for this project.

I have had this large paperclip for quite some time, so I was pleased to find it was the perfect size for this album. I chose a handful of my favourite 3×4 pocket cards, then cut some long thin strips of patterned paper for the hinges. I made these into loops with glue and staples before threading them onto the paperclip. You can see the full process in video on the Cocoa Vanilla Studio YouTube channel.

I printed a handful of my favourite ‘staying home’ memories and printed them to 2×3 inches. This is the perfect size for a tiny 3×4 album. I decided to decorate the pages first and add them to the hinges at the end. This made the decorating process much easier.

I decorated the cover with a puffy heart and some fussy cut butterflies. On the inside of the cover I included a fold out with a timeline of events. I secured this with a paperclip and a soft pink velvet ribbon. I love tactile elements like this in mini albums!

The inside pages were decorated with all the tiny elements from These Days collection. I used a bunch of the tiny clear stickers and puffy stickers, especially the hearts. I also used several fussy cut butterflies throughout as well as a bunch of fussy cut florals from the A5 paper stack.

I left plenty of space for journaling to be added in later. Where I had more than one photo per page, I added a hinged paper flip. The fantastic thing about this album is the pocket cards are already so beautifully decorated, I only needed to add small details to enhance them.

I just love how this album turned out, and it was so simple and quick to make. I will definitely be making more of these in the future! You can see a flip through of the finished album and a tutorial of making the hinges in the video linked below. Happy scrapping!

Hello Sunshine | Hello Sunshine Collection | Laura Alberts

Hey y’all! Laura here again with a deep dive into my Cocoa Vanilla Studio stash for the oldest collection I own, Hello Sunshine! For this silly layout featuring selfies of my darling son and I being exceptionally silly, I decided to create a split-level layout design, with a simple photo display on the right and a grid layout on the left. By creating this split, I can use plenty of embellishments without overwhelming my photos.

Each of these 2×2 inch squares has a large embellishment, small embellishment and a dot of Nuvo in gold for accent. I then took my navy pen and outlined each of them in a messy faux-stitching style to reflect the stitched design on the denim-styled Chill Out pattern paper under my photos. The mix of patterns on the left side really add a pop to the overall layout and give those puffy stickers the time to shine!

By layering stickers and ephemera pieces together into clusters onto these squares, each piece of the grid feels unique, but the coordination of the colors helps them feel cohesive. The outline of each square really gives the appearance of depth on the left side of the layout, giving each a shadow that helps them pop off the page!

I was so excited by how this layout turned out, that I created a sketch based on it to share with all of you! I hope you enjoy using this sketch to inspire you to try a split-level layout too!

You and Me together | Josefine van der Hoeven | These Days collection

Welcome and so happy to see you at the Cocoa Vanilla blog today. It’s Josefine here and share with you a new layout that I made with this amazing collection ” These Days”

I really wanted to work with these super cute puffy stickers and the shimmering gold hearts. I thought it would be fun to make a wreath and used the golden hearts in the center of these paper flowers.

I first draw a circle with a pencil on my white cardstock background. Then I stamped several times with the Distress Oxide color “evergreen bough”
I use a background clear stamp and print several times. Until I have a green circle in the middle. I mix the Distress Oxide with water and with a water brush I splash several times.

It’s time to make a wreath and I used the flowers and leaves from the “Floral ephemera” set
I put everything in a circle and used the punch floral set from We R keeping memories to punch out the five flowers from the design paper. In the center of these paper flowers I paste a gold heart. These flowers look so cute.

I punch out some more leaves from the green colored designer paper and slide them between the homemade paper flowers. I decorate my wreath with butterflies, wooden buttons and of course the puffy stickers. I place several puffy stickers between the leaves. Everything together gives such a festive effect. Really I love it. I cut out the photo in a circle and also cut out design paper in the shape of a circle. I use my sewing machine and stitch the edges. Then I place the photo in the center of the wreath. Finally I splash some white acrylic paint and gold acrylic ink on my page. So happy how this layout turned out.

I had so much fun with this amazing new collection “These Days” by Cocoa vanilla Studio. I hope I was able to inspire you to use the golden hearts and puffy stickers on your layout. You are Magical | These Days | Michelle Stokes

Hey hey! It’s Michelle here today to share a new layout with you all using our newest collection These Days. Our focus over the next couple of days is to share creations featuring the sweet Puffy Stickers and Gold Glitter hearts, I’ve used both to sprinkle through all those pretty florals.

I just can’t help myself when it comes to all those florals, fussy cutting happens without even thinking about it. The Home Grown paper is certainly becoming my most used paper within this collection so far, along with the cut apart sheet in both sizes. The florals were what started this creation off by stretching from top to bottom on the left side of the layout.

I used a mix of adhesives to create layers of dimension. SO many pretty flowers

This massive floral cluster has tiny pockets of space to add cute tiny puffy hearts, sweet butterflies, a few word stickers from the Puffy Sticker sheet and a couple of the super sweet gold glitter hearts

I chose a couple of crazy fun photos of Leila from a couple years back, on a family outing to a local crepe cafe. This was the first time Leila was able to enjoy an entire adult sized crepe all to herself, although she didn’t quite finish it all. I backed the photos in patterns from the A5 paper stack and tucked in some extra bits from the cut apart paper (The Good Life paper) in both sizes.

Under the photo I added the title using a mix of foam title stickers, mini puffy alphabet and a touch of handwriting. I like the special touch the handwriting gives to a layout when I don’t add any journaling.

Over on the right side of the layout I added a strip of woodgrain (Pretty Posies paper) and a cluster of florals and puffy stickers to finish the layout off.

Lastly the finishing touch, a splattering of gold ink, all over the place.

Family Together | These Days | Kylie Kingham

Hello friends! It’s Kylie back with you all today with a layout I created recently featuring the new ‘These Days’ collection. I wanted to use a cut file background for my page and one that would almost fill the page. I selected this gorgeous Rainbow cut file which was designed by Paige Evans. I really love all the pastel tones in this collection and chose the ‘THE GOOD LIFE’ paper as my main background.

When backing the cut file, I worked with the A5 PAPER PACK. The size of the papers are great for this as you aren’t cutting into the larger 12 x 12 sheets and it saves the wastage. I cheated with backing the actual rainbow, as the pastel striped paper, ‘FAMILY TIES’, was perfect for adding in a solid piece rather than adding individual sections. For the clouds I also combined some white and gold glitter card stock from my crafty stash.

My photo was printed to a smaller 3″x 4″ size and adhered over the fully backed cut file. With so much colour to the background I really didn’t need to over embellish and have just added an appropriate title from the die cut pack.

To complete my page, I added a small cluster of flowers and a cute phrase from the die cut collections. Some of the flowers were adhered with foam tape so that they added some extra dimension to my page.
