Celebrate Together | Heart and Home | Kellie Moore

Hey there Cocoa Vanilla friends it’s Kellie here and welcome back to the blog today .

I have a layout using the new Heart and Home collection to share today….the memory I am documenting is a photo of myself with my youngest son recently taken at a wedding where he was a page boy….isn’t he the sweetest?!

To start my page, I decided I wanted to create a background with a bunch of the papers from the A5 paper stack so I decided to cut a bunch of squares and lay them on an angle, leaving a strip white space down the page to allow the page to not become too busy. To add more texture I added some hand stitching around the squares.

I placed my photo towards the left side of the page so I could create a diagonal through my photo. I matted my photo in white as I already had so much pattern going on.

I wanted to keep the embellishing on the lighter side to not overpower the photo so I added some of the floral ephemera to the top left and bottom right of my photo, not sticking them flat to the page so they add dimension.

For my title I chose the word ‘Celebrate’ from the Titles with Gold Foil then added the word ‘Together’ using the Mini Puffy Alphabet. I also used a heart sticker from the Accessory Sticker Sheet above my title, along with some of the heart Puffy Stickers.

Family | Heart & Home collection | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone,

Mandy here today to share another layout featuring the beautiful Heart & Home collection. For this layout, I documented another family photo from our recent trip to Mudgee. This one is of Mum, my son Isaac, and myself picnicking at a vineyard, and I plan to put this page alongside the layout that I shared last month with photos taken on the same day. I love the way the colours in this collection really bring out the colours in the photo!

I started this page by cutting up 6 inch x 1.5 inch strips of patterned papers from the A5 Paper Stack. I then adhered these down the left hand side of a sheet of Golden Fields paper (b side). To finish off the background I punched a border strip from the woodgrain Framed patterned paper, and adhered it down the middle of the page where the paper strips meet the text background.

I matted my photo with the yellow paper from the A5 Paper Stack, and adhered it towards the top of the page, overlapping both the paper strips and the text background. Next I fussy cut a floral cluster out of the Bountiful paper, and tucked that under the bottom right hand corner of the photo. I added a few die cut elements to the cluster including some leaves, a house, and a banner. I adhered some items with foam tape to give the cluster some extra interest and dimension.

To balance out the larger floral cluster, I added two more smaller clusters to the page. One positioned on the top left hand corner of the photo, and the other in the bottom right hand corner of the layout. The positioning of the clusters gives the layout a diagonal flow, drawing the viewer’s eye from the top left, down through the photo and title, to the bottom right. I used more Die  Cut Ephemera, as well as some flowers from the Floral Ephemera pack, to create the second and third clusters. You can also see here that I created a subtitle to the left of the photo using the Mini Puffy Alpha Stickers.

For my title, I chose the word ‘Family’ from the Die Cut Ephemera pack. I outlined the letters with a brown pen and adhered them with craft foam to help them to pop off the page.

My Happy Place | Heart & Home Collection | Laura Alberts

Hey y’all! Laura Alberts here with a fun autumn layout using the new Heart & Home collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio. These lovely photos worked beautifully with the color scheme of Heart & Home, especially the vellum florals! I started this one using multiple chipboard circle templates that I created in various sizes using bowls from my house. Cutting out circles in these beautiful patterned papers made for a quick and easy background!

Each of the circles are outlined in black gel pen with a few faux stitching marks. In the top left circle, I positioned two photos with the first part of my title and tucked a journaling spot from the cut apart sheet underneath. I added a mix of ephemera, fussy cut, and vellum florals on the right side for a simple cluster.

In the top right corner, I built a large cluster using a frame from the ephemera pack and backed it with a cut apart. The floral cluster added depth by layering ephemera florals above the frame and vellum florals below. This gives the cluster a dynamic look despite how flat it actually is!

In the bottom right corner, I let one of my photos go off the page and trimmed it. This functions as the second-half of the title, but also gives a third point of interest on the page. These photos didn’t need a lot of embellishing, so I kept this cluster simple.

And just to add a little extra something fun to the last circle, I added a medium sized cluster with both vellum, ephemera, and fussy cut florals. Love how this one turned out! I hope this layout inspires you to find a new way to incorporate household items into your scrapbooking!

Beautiful You | Heart & Home Collection | Michelle Stokes

Hello Hello! It’s Michelle back here today with a new layout share featuring the Beautiful Heart & Home Collection. For this layout I set myself a challenge to only use the florals with the floral ephemera pack and a multitude of pattern papers in a circular design. Lets take a look at how I went

I started off by punching circles with a hand punch out of 12 different pattern papers, mostly from the A5 paper stack with a couple of 12×12. I arranged them in a circular design on the white cardstock background, which was giving me clock face vibes, just without the numbers. Each piece had the edge distressed for a little texture before adhering with foam tape to give dimension.

I actually worked backwards in my process from here on out, creating the title cluster first before adhering a photo to the page

For this cluster I used the word Beautiful from the Gold Foil Title that is adhered using foam for a little extra pop, some mini puffy alphas that I used in 1 colour only, some florals from the floral ephemera pack, and fussy cut pieces from the printed vellum and Bountiful paper.

Next up I created this large cluster of florals, ephemera and vellum using both foam and sticky dots for different heights of layers and dimension.

I created the other large cluster on the left side of the layout using similar elements to the other groups to keep things cohesive and balanced, then added the photo to the right.

I printed the photo in 3x3inch size and adhered to a piece of the woodgrain paper from this collection and adhered to the layout using foam to raise it off the background, enabling me to layer within the clustered pieces. It’s an older photo of Leila that I’m sure I’ve used and shared before, but its too sweet to not share again.

Here’s a photo that shows the dimension achieved using different forms of adhesives like foam tape, foam sheets and glue dots.

I added some mini puffy enamel shapes around the clusters, sprinkled some gold ink and dotted some sparkly gold dots here and there with a trusty new mixed media product I purchased at a recent craft show. I added the same medium to some of the florals for a little more sparkle.

Really happy with how this came together as I didn’t have a solid plan, just went with the flow and was content with the process.

Door Hanging | Heart & Home | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a slightly different project to my normal layouts! I created a heart-shaped door hanging that doubles as a place to add notes and letters using the gorgeous Heart & Home collection. Great idea right?!

I started by having my Silhouette Cameo cut out a heart shape for me from plain white cardstock. I then traced out the shape of various sections of the heart with a variety of the 12′ x 12′ papers including the ‘B’ side of the Framed paper, the ‘B’ side of the Flurry paper and the ‘B’ side of the Harvest paper. Once I had them out all cut out, I machine stitched a border around the outside edge of the entire heart. I did stitch across the 2 pouches horizontally, adding strips of the ‘B’ side of the Gather paper and a strip of vellum. I did only place adhesive on the bottom and the very edges of the pouches to create the openings.

Once the heart and the pouches were constructed, I added a ribbon to the back of the heart and also included a bow at the top. To embellish the door hanging, starting from the top, I added the banner sticker from the Accessory Sticker sheet to the top left corner, adhering it with a staple. I then cut part of the heart strip from the Gather paper and adhered it horizontally, tucking in a tag, I added some twine to the top of the tag, and adhered a phrase banner die-cut with some craft foam. I also placed a heart puffy sticker on the tag.

For the middle section, I added lots of ephemera pieces, including the house which I adhered using craft foam and added a puffy sticker to the house to act as a door handle and a phrase die-cut across the centre of the house. I also added a round die-cut and added a mini paper clip and I placed another die-cut on the left. I also placed another banner sticker and stapled it to adhere it. On the bottom I placed another house die-cut and the title here which is made up the gold cardstock words. I also did the same to this house as I did to the one above, adding a puffy sticker and phrase die-cut. I adhered all of these using craft foam also.

Moodboard Inspiration with Heart & Home | Niki Rowland

Do you love or loath moodboards? I love them but I know some people struggle to interpret them. I tackle them by making a list of all the things I see and then I try to incorporate as many of them as possible into my layout.

For the beautiful October moodboard set by Sophie, this is the list I made: acorns, check print, web, leaves, wooden round, circle shape, flowers, words (script font and regular), knitted yarn/wool, pumpkins, woodgrain, the colours (green, orange blue, brown, pink, peach, yellow), Autumn theme. That’s a long list!

 

I was mostly inspired by the central photo of the wooden round. I used the A5 paper stack sheet of woodgrain paper and cut out the largest circle possible. I distressed the edges. I mounted my photo onto a check print.  I arranged my photo and Floral Ephemera to the right of the circle together with a Ephemera frame. The frame has acorns on it. I arranged all these elements as per the central photo of the wooden round, together with my title too over on the left. So far I’d incorporated: acorns, check print, leaves, wooden round, circle shape, flowers, words, woodgrain, the colours and an Autumn theme. Lots of boxes ticked there!

I added some ink under the area where the flowers would sit. I used a peach shade and then added some darker ink splatters over this area.

I wanted to incorporate the knitted yarn so took some white embroidery thread and cut three long lengths. I then plaited these and make a piece long enough to go around the edge of my wooden round. I just stuck it in place. I also added a doily under the wooden round, which could (at a stretch) represent the web on the moodboard. So now I could also tick off: web and knitted yarn. That’s pretty much everything except the pumpkins.

I added a few more fussy cut acorns, handwrote my journaling, and added some puffy heart stickers. I also created a little torn area on the left side of the layout backed with patterned paper, to balance out the very large cluster that was over to the right side.

So I think I nailed the moodboard and I hope that you have enjoyed seeing how I tackle a moodboard! Enjoy the process video of this layout.

Fall Days & Lattes | Heart & Home | Rachel Lowe

Hey CVS friends Rachel here! I decided to do a 8.5 x 11 inch layout just to mix things up and today I am sharing another Fall themed layout using Heart & Home collection. I personally prefer Mocha to Lattes but I think you get the idea.

I found this fab cut file from the Silhouette Design store, isn’t the mug just too cute with the dollop of cream on top. I layered my title using the Framed paper woodgrain side and then adding the smaller font using the Golden Fields paper small floral print side. I added with foam tape to create dimension.

I cut the outline of the leaves using the Framed paper and agin woodgrain side. I paper pieced them with this green paper from the A5 paper pad, I save my 12×12 inch papers for larger projects and utilise the A5 size for smaller pieces.

I next created the mug using the woodgrain paper which mimics the colour of coffee (or mocha) and used a bright yellow paper from the A5 pad. I used white cardstock for the dollop of cream on top, I did add some Dimensional Magic gloss but my photos don’t show it well but it certainly created a great effect on the white cardstock. I added to my page with foam tape. To finish off I added a phrase sentiment from the Accessory Sticker sheet and added a small floral bunch from the Die Cut Ephemera pack. You will see here I also added some Puffy stickers to add contrast.

I added my 3×3 inch photo of my daughter with her horse which I matted and then added with foam tape. I tucked under another floral bloom, layering it by adding extra sprigs from the Floral Die Cut Ephemera pack. I used phrase sentiments from the Accessory Sticker sheet and finished off by adding some Puffy Stickers.

I chose to use a dark border to lift my layout and the Flurry paper was perfect!

This is a simple layout you could easily scrap lift. You could also add a larger photo or turn it into a 12×12 inch layout by enlarging the cut files and photo.

EVERYDAY BEAUTY | HEART & HOME COLLECTION | SOPHIE DELORME

Hello friends!

It’s Sophie here with a new layout to share!

 

I used the beautiful Heart & Home collection again!

I focused on the Leaf Litter patterned paper and fussy cut numerous tiny leaves.

I centered my black and white photo on a thick white cardstock, added a few layers of patterned papers from the A5 paper Stack, tissue paper and foam adhesive.

I created a big floral cluster on the lower right corner of the photo (Floral Ephemera pack), and scattered the beautiful fussy cut leaves on the upper left corner of the photo to create a diagonal design.

 

I placed a die cut on the photo as my title, with the name of my dog (Mini Puffy Alphabet) and a few handwritten words about how cute she looks!

Hi Friends, welcome back to the Cocoa Vanilla blog, it’s Kel here today to share a layout using the new ‘Heart and Home’ collection. My page is documenting a family photo from Xmas 2022. Here is a look…

My photo is a landscape design so I started with adding some patterned paper strips behind my photo. I offset the papers and cut them at different sizes to add some interest and also distressed them to add some texture.

After placing my photo on the page, I decided I wanted to use the ‘Family’ letters found in the die cut ephemera pack as my title. I used foam dimension to make them pop and also outlined them with a black pen…this really helps them stand out! Under my title I used some of the word phrases from the die cut ephemera pack..

Next I placed some of the floral die cuts to the bottom left and top right of my photo. I added some hand stitching to them to add texture…

Above my photo I added a word sentiment from the die cut ephemera pack and cut some of the cute little houses from the ‘Gather’ paper..

I decided I wanted to add a bit more colour to my white cardstock so I added some hearts using distress oxides and a stencil, again outlining them with a black marker..

To finish my page I added some heart puffy stickers around my page and added some fine gold splatters.

Thankful | Heart & Home Collection | Laura Alberts

Hey y’all! I’m back again with the stunning Heart & Home collection to scrap these two photos of my brick. This is my mark on the university I attended and I am so grateful that I had this opportunity to return to school and finish my degree. To celebrate, I’m scrapping this moment with these rich colors from Heart & Home!

For this layout, I created a fairly simple vertical background and layered my two 3×4″ landscape photos on top of each other with clusters of florals from the icon ephemera packs tucked into the corners. With a lovely gold die cut title and these tiny fussy cut florals, I gave the page a beautifully detailed finish!

Adding in Nuvo drops was how I gave this simple vertical time to shine. Using white Nuvo on top of the woodgrain paper that edges the background gives it a purpose. The outlining of those strips makes them pop even more!
