The Outdoors is Calling | Great Escape | Sophie Delorme

Hello Cocoa Vanilla friends!

It’s Sophie here today with a new layout using the Great Escape collection!

 

When I saw this 3×4 card “The outdoors is calling” on the “Wild Life” paper, I knew exactly what photo to use and it was my starting point for the whole page!

I framed the photo and card on the wood grain “Starry Night” paper, framed everything on white cardstock and placed it on the “Star Gazing” paper.

I teared a big chunk of the “Adventurer” paper and placed it beneath the white rectangle, adding a fussy cut scalloped border from the “Wild Life” paper.

 

I hand stitched around the white rectangle and added a few cross stitches on the wood grain frame as well.

I used a label from the “Wild Life” paper to handwrite my date and placed Chipboard Stickers around my pocket card and photo to embellish the page.

This is a simple and more masculine page, and it makes the photo stand out so well!!

Wild Adventure | Great Escape | Laura Alberts

Hey y’all! Laura Alberts here again with a fun camp-out layout using the stunning new Great Escape collection. It’s such a fun mix of nature and camping themes! I love the navy and gray tones mixed with brighter tones.

For this outdoorsy photo, I thought this fantastic background was perfect! I added some lovely curly cloud cut files from the Silhouette shop to the Horizon patterned paper. Using a piece of A5 wood grain paper as a base, I built up a window frame for the photo.

The journaling spot is from the cut-apart sheet in this collection, as are the word phrases that are layered over the fussy cut clouds. A chipboard title along with die cut icons brings all of the colors together and draws the eye directly into the 4×6 photo of my son. I love how this layout captures the excitement as well as the setting of this picture.

Let’s go | The Great Escape Layout | Anna Komenda

Hello everyone. It’s Anna here with another page made with brand new “The great escape” collection. it just landed on CVS shelves and you can purchase a whole bundle to get every element from this line! Once again I reached for the photos from our family travels. Since my girls are not little anymore, they do not pose to the photos as much as they used to so I need to stick to our summer memories. Rest of the year is almost non existant in my phone camera :) Beside the dog. He fills up the void.

This time I reached for photos from our visit in one of the Netherland’s beautiful towns called Giethoorn, where instead of roads for cars, are water canals for boats. It looks so picturesque and we had an amazing time on the rental boat. I printed five small photos and placed them in a row, so they look like from a  photo booth.

 I started with white cardstock as a layout base adding few strips of several pattern papers under the photo. I used: “Happy camper“, “Horizon“, “Direction” and “Journey” patterns. Photos glued in a row on a strip of “Adventurer” paper were the next layer.

I spend some time fussy cutting banners from “Happy camper” paper to add them onto the page in few spots. After they were glued down, I used a string in natural color to make them look connected. Embellishing was quite easy and fast. I used few wood slices from Ephemera Pack and some stars from Chipboard Stickers.

My title was created with words from Puffy Title Stickers, that I places in the bottom of the page. I also added smaller word, with the name f the town, using Mini Puffy Alpha Stickers from older “Heart & Home” collection. Their color matches “The great escape” collection perfectly. I finished my project with super cute Puffy Stickers.

Wild Times Ahead | Great Escape Collection | Michelle Stokes

Hey Hey, It’s Michelle back here to kick off another week of creative shares from the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Design Team. This week I’ve used the awesome Great Escape Collection to create this star filled explosion of colour to document our sweet little furry kids after a fresh haircut.

To begin I cut into the Happy Camper paper between two of the zigzag lines and adhered them to some white cardstock with a gap between to add all the stars. I cut up an entire sheet of the Star Gazing paper to get the right mix of colours and shapes to fill all that white space. I used both tacky glue and glue dots to adhere them to the layout for different heights of texture.

These 2 little fuzz balls are so hilarious when they have a haircut, its so much fun to look back each time.

I used a piece of the cool woodgrain paper from the A5 paper stack to pop the photo off the layout amongst all the colour.

Love Love Love me some stars, just about as much as I love fussy cut florals, and even though cutting up all that one sheet took so very long, I really love the texture it gives the layout

Theres a couple of accessory word stickers placed around the layout, and a mini cluster of beautiful stars at the bottom of the layout to balance it all out.

 

I created a mixed font title on the layout using the Foam title stickers along with chipboard sticker words. Perfect mix of textures to bring it all together.

I did add the usual splatter of gold ink to finish it all off.

Play | Great Escape | Laura Alberts

Hey y’all! Laura Alberts back again with the new Great Escape collection! These photos of my youngest son at the Delta State Fair were the perfect mix of colors for this collection, even though it steps well outside the nature/camping theme of Great Escape. The versatility of Cocoa Vanilla collections is one of the reasons it’s my favorite!

I started with a 10 inch circle using a chipboard template I made from a large bowl in my house. Using that as a guide, I stacked up tons of fussy cut stars around the circle. This gives the layout a celebratory feel that I think fits the State Fair!

I grouped my photos into two small clusters at the top left and bottom right, then built a larger focal image in the middle. For my 3×4 inch photo in the center, I built up a shelf using scraps and manufacturing strips. This gives visual support to my focal image.

Our Best Adventure Yet | Great Escape collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am here to share a new scrapbook layout featuring the awesome Great Escape collection! I don’t know about you but I love travelling and I love documenting those travels too! Recently my partner and I took a trip to gorgeous Tasmania, it was wonderful, these photos are from beautiful Cradle Mountain and this collection has been perfect to document our travels.

I started by cutting out a cut file from CUT to YOU from white cardstock and then backed the different words and frames with papers from the Great Escape A5 paper stack.

I added 2 photos in the frames of the cut file as well and I had to be strategic with what photo I added in the top frame due to the frame below covering up part of the photo. I chose the ‘Direction’ patterned paper as my background, I then cut the navy blue strip from the ‘Wild Life’ patterned paper and adhered it to the left hand side of the paper. Once the cut file was all backed, I adhered it to the same background paper. Usually I adhere my cut files using craft foam to pop them up, however for this layout I knew I wanted to pop up the mountains and other die-cut embellishments in the middle. I added the mountains, the Fun Times sign, the wood piece and the Adventure word all from the ephemera pack.

I also placed the compass die-cut to the middle of the ‘O’ of the word ‘Our’ in the cut file, I used craft foam for this piece also to pop it up off the page. Down next to the ‘Yet’ word, I placed the super cute camper die-cut and layered some phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet on top from the ephemera pack. Once the larger elements were added to my page, I then added a few smaller embellishments including puffy enamel shapes and some more stickers from the Accessory sticker sheet, including the arrow sticker and the journal spot above the word ‘Our’. I love how the puffy enamel shapes add a touch of colour and dimension and I love how the phrase stickers help to tell the story if you don’t feel like journaling!

Lastly I stamped the date stamp and journaled where the photos were taken. I love how this cut file helped to make the design and placement decisions on my layout and the Great Escape collection really does make it so easy to create great memories!

Wild Thing | Great Escape Collection | Rachel lowe

Hey crafty friends Rachel here! Today I have another layout created with the fabulous Great Escape collection. I have used a photo of my oldest boy who is now in the Air Force and has made this mum very proud.

I used this awesome geometric cut file from the Silhouette Design store and cut it in black for impact, I chose the Happy Camper orange side paper to back the cut file as it contrast so well. I used white cardstock as my base paper and added a grey/blue paint wash and splatters and added the Adventurer paper as a border.

I again used the Adventurer paper and cut a strip 4×9 inches and placed to the left of the circle cut file. I used the dark blue strip from the Wild Life paper over this trip. I next added my 6×4 portrait photo with foam tape so I could add elements under.

I used  chipboard pieces to add dimension to my layout and to emphasise the patterns of the paper. to ensure my photo did not get ‘lost’ amongst the patterns and colours I added clusters of embellishments around it. Layering over and under elements greats great visual interest.

I love the Puffy Title stickers and as you can see you on my layout I manipulated them to curve following the shape of the circle cut file. I added some Puffy Star stickers in amongst my colour wash to create the illusion of a sky.

I did try a coloured version of my photo but as there are many colours and patterns in this layout it just didn’t work but a black & white version really popped off the page!

Great Outdoors | The Great Escape | Kel Moore

Hello everybody, welcome back to the Cocoa Vanilla blog, it’s Kel here today to share my latest creation using the new ‘The Great Escape’ collection. Here it is…

To start my page I decided I wanted to use the yellow paper called ‘Horizon’ to make a sun feature on my background. I cut the paper into strips at an even level to create the rays. Before I stuck them down I added some yellow ink behind the rays to add some depth and interest. After I stuck them down, I added some hand stitching.

I placed my 2 photos in the middle of the page, matting them on papers from the A5 paper stack as well as some black card stock to help them pop. Once they were down, I made some trees.. the trunks from a wood paper from ‘No Limits’ and the green paper called ‘Journey.‘ One tree to the left of the photos and one on the right to create balance.

Next, I cut some clouds from the ‘Starry Night’ paper and added them to the top left of my page. Above the left photo I added a tab and word sticker from the Accessory Sticker Sheet.

Above the right photo I added a frame and wood piece from the die cut ephemera pack. Then to the right of the photo I added a flag and some stars.

For my title I used the words ‘Great Outdoors’ from the Puffy Title Stickers. I popped them onto white card stock to help them stand out. Underneath I used some phrases which I cut from the cut apart paper called Wild Life.

I finished my page adding some more stars cut from the Star Gazing paper and some of the Puffy Star Stickers.

Adventure | Great Escape | Niki Rowland

Hey everyone! This is Niki (@nikiclairecreates) with another layout made using the Great Escape collection! I adore the bright stripey paper and decided to make a feature out of that. I started off by cutting a large block of it to go across the layout which I paired with a narrow strip of yellow sun paper to go along the top.

I cut one of the border strips from the cut apart sheet, the one with the rainbow scallops, and added this strip as a boarder along the bottom of the stripes. I love the bright colours!

I mounted my photo onto a piece of navy blue paper from the A5 paper stack to make it stand out against the stripes and added it to the lower horizontal line. I already had two layered stars made that I had leftover from my previous layout so I added those to the layout too, tucked behind the photo.

 

I added my title ‘adventure’ from the puffy title stickers across the top of my photo together with the word ‘play’ from the cut apart paper. I also added a little label sticker from the Accessory Stickers to the bottom of the photo that says ‘so much fun’.

I then embellished the layout with several pieces of ephemera from the Die Cut Ephemera pack, Chipboard stickers, Puffy Stickers and more Accessory Stickers. I finished off with a few sequins and splatters of black paint!

I love how bright, happy and colourful this layout turned out!

Adventure Awaits | Great Escape Collection | Michelle Stokes

Hey Scrappy friends, it’s Michelle here today. I’ve got a brand new layout share for you all using the Great Escape Collection thats inspired by this months Challenge – Scrap about your adventures. I’ve taken a step back in time to when I travelled overseas with my Mum in 2008 and had a magical visit to Times Square in New York. Loved this trip of a lifetime.

As the photo was already quite busy I didn’t want to add too much to the background of the layout or overdo the embellishments, so I’ve kept the background ‘clean’ and only used fussy cut stars from the Star Gazing paper for the main focal points of the embellishment clusters.

I took this photo from the top of a ‘hop on, hop off’ bus as we were touring around the city. This was the first glimpse of the area and it was just so impressive. The noise, the people, the cars. Everything there in that moment was everything you read and see online about New York. Its was magical and hectic all in one.

I backed the photo using the rainbow stripe side of the Journey Paper and layered it with some foam sheet to pop it off the page. I knew I would be using the chipboard pieces at some point so I needed to match the depth of dimension they would create. I added fussy cut stars from the Star Gazing paper to the top right with the addition of the cute mini van ephemera piece

I added more of the Journey Paper to the layout, this time the green tree pattern along the bottom of the layout to act as a landing point for one of the clusters. I added machine stitching along the top edge once all the stars and stickers were in place

To the left of the photo I created a cluster of stars using different forms of adhesive for a layered effect. I did this with all three clusters within the visual triangle. I also added an extra piece of chipboard to the photo along with a sticker and journal tab tucked into the top

To create the title I’ve used the word Adventure from the Chipboard Stickers pack along with my beloved white alphas and some handwritten text for journalling. I love the mixed look this creates. Then lastly I added my usual splatter of gold ink to add interest to all the whitespace surrounding the clusters.
