Happy Mother’s Day to you all! Today I am sharing a layout created to celebrate my wonderful mother. I have used These Days collection.
I have used the wonderful ready made mixed media background paper Daybreak paper. I cut my title first so I could position it and see where I would add my butterflies that I intended to add. This title cut file is available from the Silhouette design store. I cut varying sizes of butterflies using Pretty Posies paper and added with foam tape to add dimension.
I matted my photo using a paper from the A5 paper pad, yellow plaid. My photo is 3.5×3.5 inch photo and added with foam tape.
Then it was time to add embellishments! You can see I used a Pocket Card next to my photo. I used die cuts, puffy stickers and wood epoxy buttons to embellish. To lift my title I added the small puffy stickers. I tucked the mother/daughter die cut in-between the pocket card and photo. I used foam tape on many of the embellishments to add more dimension.
I used a black and white photo of my mother and I so it would add a stark contrast against the wonder colours of These Days papers.
Hello CVS crafty friends! I have another album to share using the fab new No Limits. This album is larger than the one I created earlier in the month and this album can fit up tp 12 photos of varying sizes. I
I have used the following papers: Stardust, Latitude, Nebula, Orbit and Spark. This banner album is from the Silhouette design store. I added black machine stitching to add definition and texture.
I chose my title from the Die Cut Titles and added with foam tape on every second page. I have used the smaller banners so dates can be added. I found two blue O rings from my stash which go wonderfully with the colours of this collection.
I added frames from the No Limits chipboard for two smaller photos. I made use of the pocket cards as photo mats. I added more black machine stitching through the album. By adding another die cut title word here I have created another title.
I have used the pocket cards to add spaces to document and the accessory stickers to journal.
Here I created some flap pages to be able to add even more pages. These are simple to make, simply score a 1/4 inch at the top and use wet glue to attach on top of each other.
Of course the fun part is adding the embellishments! I used many of the wood epoxy stickers to add dimension. I used lots of phrase sentiments from the chipboard, die cuts and accessory stickers. Once I had added the embellishments I went back and added puffy stickers on most pages.
This album is ready to be filled with awesome boy photos! If you would like an opportunity to win this album please check out my post on the CVS community FB page!
Hello Paperlovers, How nice to see you again on the Cocoa Vanilla blog today. It’s Josefine here with a new mixed media layout. This time I worked with the super cool and beautiful boys collection “No limits” I think this is such a great collection. The cool look and the cool colors can’t get enough of it.
I first started with the mixed media background and used the following colors of Distress Oxide, “broken china” and “prize ribbon” I took a cleaning sponge and cut a piece from it. I wet the sponge and placed a little ink from both colors on a piece of plastic. I pick up the ink with the sponge and apply it in a stamping way on the white background.
I take a text clear stamp and stamp small prints of the stamp on my mixed media background. The ink I used is “broken china”
I used a cut file with stars and choose a cut file from Cut to You calls “Star Cluster” I cut the cut file from orange pattern paper and placed the cut file on my mixed media background. I stitched Some stars I with blue sewing thread and put it on top of the cut file for a lovely 3D effect.
For this boys layout I used a number of pocket page cards. I picked out a few for the right colors and cropped them and then placed them behind the photo. In between the pocketpage cards, I stick some tabs, stars and die-cuts. Lovely all these layers.
I fussy cut several stars from the beautiful pattern paper and placed them in different spots on top of the cut file. Some of the stars I provide with a blue stitch border of blue sewing thread and on top of the stars a few word strips.
I made two clusters of die-cuts, stars, wooden buttons and tickets on both sides of the photo. For the title, I used the awesome large die-cut titles. The title for this layout is “You’re the best Cool Kid”
Now it’s time to do some splattering on the layout with both colors of distress oxide and also some white splattering with the gesso. I mix the gesso with a little bit of water so I can splatter more easily with my brush. I hope you got some fun and creative ideas from my blog today and enjoy getting started with this beautiful collection. I hope to see you again next time with a new project. Have a happy and creative day friends! XoXo, Jo
Hello CVS friends, as promised I have created a mini album focusing on the Pocket Cards from the No Limits collection. Apart from using one 12×12 paper, Big Bang for the cover I used papers from the A5 paper pad.
This mini album is super easy to make and no cutting machine required! Here are the cutting instructions:
Cut a 11 x 5 inch strip.
Score 5 inches in from the left and then right. This will leave you a 1 inch spine.
Cut another paper strip 3 x 5 inches.
Score at 1 inch from the left and then right. This will leave you a 1 inch spine again. This binding piece will fit perfectly onto your album cover.
Machine stitch binding paper strip and wet glue to your cover.
Use a corner punch on front and back cover
You will see inside I have created a pocket which again is simple to do.
1.Cut a 4 x 3 inch strip.
2 Score a 1/4 inch at each side and fold under.
3. Scallop punch top of pocket.
4. wet glue each fold and a thin amount to bottom to close up.
I have added some tags to my pocket. I decorated my pocket with embellishments from the chipboard and finished off with an epoxy wooden button.
On the other side I punched a hole and added an eyelet (ensuring it would be big enough for my O ring) and threaded through an O ring I found in my stash. This is where you will add your pocket cards and photos.
I added machine stitching to all my pocket cards to add texture and left some thread on for a rustic feel. I chose the larger stars from the die cut ephemera pack which hang from the O ring.
I have added traditional photos measuring 3×4 inches and added them between the pocket cards which allows you to journal. You can also add photos to the pocket cards also. I also cut the silhouette of my son and added to a pocket card which looks super adorable and mixes things up.
I used the accessory sticker sheet phrase sentiments and added directly onto my photo.
I used the puffy stickers to also add some sparkle to the cards! The trick is to add lots of different textures to your mini album so it is not flat but has lots of dimension.
My title Boys will be Boys is a cut file from the Silhouette design store. To add dimension some letters I have added with foam tape others flat. I added a mix of chipboard stars, die cut stars and puffy sticker stars.
The wonderful thing about this album is that it is not a huge consumer of paper, saving those 12×12 papers! I do not do PL and therefore this is a fab way to use pockets cards where you can photos, mementos and add lots of journalling.
I hope the extra photos help if you choose to make your own take.
Thank you for stopping by and happy scrapping always!
Hello CVS friends today I am sharing my first layout using the fab No Limits collection! This collection is certainly a must have for all of us that have boys/men in our lives, having three sons I always need a great masculine collection on hand!
I have used a cut file from the Silhouette Design Store to create my background, I chose it because I wanted to add lots of papers and stars to my page and this cut file allowed me to do both in a great way. I have used a mix of the 12×12 papers, Stardust, Latitude, Nebula and Spark. I added black machine stitching following the curves of the cut file to add definition. I next gathered all the stars from the die cut ephemera, chipboard stickers and wood epoxy buttons. Again following the curves of the cut files I added the stars from left to right (up to the point where my photo was going to be added).
I next added my photo which is 5×5 inches, I used the packaging and added a row of black machine stitching under the printed No Limits. I added my photo and then added a word sentiment sticker from the AccessorySticker sheet, which I added with foam tape. Lastly I added a small wood epoxy button between the two words.
I just had to add one of the super cute space ships on my layout! I added it in-between some of the stars at the top of my page and added puffy sticker stars and circles for added dimension.
I then added my extra large title using the die cut titles. I added them with foam tape to create a 3D effect. I put my words in amongst the stars and using the cut file again to guide where they went.
I love this fun photo of my three boys (in other words they are not fighting lol!!!!) and love how this layout came together!
Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to seeing all your creations with No Limits!
Welcome and so happy to see you on the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! It’s Josefine here and I’m sharing a new layout with you today. I got to work with the amazing collection “No Limits. I am so surprised by this stunning boys collection. I really love the color combinations and the cool vibe!
I grab a 12×12 watercolor paper and choose three colors of distress oxide. The colors I used are, faded jeans, mustard seed and spiced marmalade. I placed an ink pad on my white background and make a horizontal line. I do this with all three colors. Then I take a brush and blend the colors with each other. I splash some more with the colors and water and then let it dry by air. By splashing with water and then dabbing it dry with a piece of kitchen paper you create a cool water color effect.
I use a cutfile by Paige Evans called “Fantastic” as part of my title. I cut out the cutfile with my Cricut Maker and backed it with design paper. I color the alphas with the distress oxide “faded jeans” and then I stitch them with blue sewing thread on my cutfile. The stitch details give my layout more dimensions.

I cut pattern paper to size and placed it behind the photo of my son with his cool looking face. On top of the photo, I placed a frame from the Die-cuts elements figures. I select some more figures and make a cluster on the right side of the photo. Some die-cuts I give a blue stitching details.
I cut a few more stars from the fabulous pattern paper and spread them around the layout. I use another second cutfile from Paige Evans “Clouds” and use one cloud I back it with pattern paper, stitch some details with the blue sewing thread and place it behind the picture. I placed a few more puffy stars and planets here and there and finally I give my layout some white splatter with white gesso.
I hope I was able to inspire you with this boys layout and give you some new ideas. Of course, I hope to see you back here on the blog next time with a new project! Can’t wait to see your beautiful projects on the Cocoa Vanilla FB groep! I wish you a very happy and crafty day friends!
Hey Hey! It’s Michelle back here today with a fun new layout share as part of our fortnightly Throwback Thursday feature. This week I dipped into my Sunkissed stash to brighten up the place, and because I was having so much fun creating my last layout for the Scraplift theme, I fell down that rabbit hole again too!
I lifted a layout of mine from quite a few years back that incorporates a beautiful heart cut file from CUT to YOU, a bunch of florals and a mixed font title. I kept all the same similar elements and just switched up the collection to show off the bright and beautiful colours within the Sunkissed Collection.
I chose to document a sweet moment of Leila and our super sweet little pup Daisy, both focused on smashing buttons while playing something on the Switch. It’s not often these days that you can find Daisy alert, awake and happy to sit still for a photo as she’s either VERY lively, or snuggled up next to someone fast asleep.
I backed the photo using the darker blue print from the ‘Bright Side‘ paper, theres a pretty pink version of the same print in the A5 paper stack too that I’ve used to back a section of the awesome heart cut file from CUT toYOU. On that note, a majority of patterns used to back the cut file can be found in the A5 paper stack. The cut file was cut out on white cardstock and once filled with pretty papers, adhered to the layout using foam tape to give a slight hint of dimension.
Under the photo I created the first of 2 large floral clusters, most of which are made using fussy cut flowers from the ‘Growing Wild‘ papers in both the 12×12 and A5 paper sizes. I added some ephemera pieces, a woodbutton and some accessory sticker words to finish this one off
and then up in the top right corner of the layout I added the second major cluster using the same decorative elements to compliment the first cluster. Both clusters use a mix of adhesives to create different layers of dimension within the floral goodness.. Most used would be my trusty double sided foam tape and some sticky dots.
I went back in time to find these alpha stickers in my stash as I was after something not quite as bright as the white I usually add to layouts. These are a pretty grey(ish) colour with little white polka dots all over, perfect for this kind of layout as they don’t blend in with the cut file, and don’t stand out too much to take away the focus from the photo and cut file. Released way back when, with the Free Spirit Collection. Now thats a throwback item for sure! The gold heart and ‘these’ word are the very last remnants in my pack of the awesome gold glitter words from the Sunkissed Collection. My most favourite word sticker pack by far!
Oh and I cant forget to mention the very awesome background pattern paper I used for this layout, Summer Lights, reminds me of a delicious Mocktail/ Juice creation that I enjoyed many years ago. Gives off bright summer sunset vibes too.
Well friends, thats all from me today. Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a quick journey back to enjoy the beautiful Sunkissed Collection. It truly is one of my most favourite collections of all time. I just love the bright happy colours in this collection, they make me want to make ALL the happy scrappy things!
Hello CVS friends today I have a 8.5 x 11 inch layout to share with you using Daydream collection. There is nothing cuter than a baby themed layout and Daydream has enough elements to create this theme.
I love this clipboard cut file (available in the Silhouette design store) and wanted to frame my photos in a unique way. I cut two, the first to add my photo and the second which is smaller to add journalling. The woodgrain paper for the clipboard. I used the Daisy Days paper using the blue daisy side on the larger clip board and the reverse side on the smaller one. I added machine stitching to these two paper pieces and added to the woodgrain paper piece. I then added to my clipboard with foam tape to add dimension.
I used the Accessory Sticker sheet to add my journalling to the smaller clipboard. I tucked two small floral die cuts and then layered a moth over the top with foam tape. I added the clip with foam tape and finished off by adding two tiny flowers and a paintbrush stroke clear sticker under this embellishment cluster.
I added another layer of paper on the larger board, adding a paper square behind my photo (which is 3×3 inches). I added my photo with foam tape again to add dimension and tucked a tab under the top of the photo. I created a large floral embellishment using die cut ephemera cluster, layering and adding foam tape to some of the flowers. As my photo has some negative space I added a cute flair.
Before adding the clip to the top of the board I added an eyelet and threaded a heart charm. Lastly I added my title.
I used die cut titles to create part of my title, so these did not appear ‘flat’ I added with foam tape. I just had to add puffy hearts and created the other part of my title using a die cut phrase.
I love how this layout turned out with the beautiful rich colours, texture and dimension. Baby collections can be limiting in use so being able to use a collection that lends itself to a variety of themes is great and Daydream is that collection.
Thank you for stopping by today and I have a feeling that my next few layouts maybe all boy!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello everyone, its Melissa here and after weeks of creating Christmas pages I’m so happy to be back creating with the gorgeous Sunkissed collection. In fact it was a recent photo of my two youngest daughters at the beach that inspired a return to creating with this collection!
This month we are focusing on scraplifting ourselves, which is something I love to do when I’m lost for creative flow! Here is the fun and colourful layout I created.
And here is the original layout that I decided to scrap lift, which I created last year in February using the stunning These Days collection. I didn’t realise that it was created nearly a year ago when I selected it, and I was pleasantly surprised!
The first thing I decided to do was use a cut file, and this one by Paige Evans was perfect! I backed the letters with papers from the A5 Paper Stack.
I had so much fun recreating this layout with bright and bold colours, and I used Distress Oxides to applied with a small stamping block a more intensional position of ink than the packaging technique. I colour matched the colours of inks with the colours of the papers backing the cut file.
For the positioning of my photo I copied the original layout, and the smaller photo was perfect. It lets the cut file standout, but still shines as the main feature of the layout! I embellished with lots of Floral Ephemera, Clear Stickers, gold glitter hearts from the Foam Title Stickers and one Accessory Sticker.
I love how this scraplift turned out, you should definitely try lifting yourself!
Hello creative Paperlovers, Welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog today! So happy to see you with this new share. It’s Josefine here with a new mixed media scrapbook layout using the beautiful “Daydream” collection.
The challenge for this week is, scrap lifting myself. I couldn’t wait to make the “Pool Party” layout again. I wanted to challenge myself to use a different collection though and chose the beautiful “Daydream” collection.
I used a white sheet of cardstock. I cut a kitchen sponge into quarters and one of them I’m going to use to stamp with. I moisten the sponge and with a brush I apply the Distress Oxide to the sponge. Then I start stamping on the background. I continue doing this until the stain is big enough. The color I’m using is “broken china” When I’m done stamping with my sponge I make splatters with the distress oxide.
I cut the title “Happy Times” with my Cricut Maker and backfilled it with the beautiful design papers from the Daydream collection. This happy cut file is from Cut To You. I cut some more different design papers to size and placed them behind the photo.
I cut the title loose and placed the photo in between. I placed the cut file and photo in the center of my mixed media background. I picked different die-cuts, butterflies and flowers to made a cluster on the left side of the photo.
I colored the alphas from the cut file with distress oxide. The color I used for the alphas is “fossiled amber” I used my blending tool for blending. I attached the alphas with gold sewing thread. I created splatters with white gesso and used my brush for it. The cute little button “choose joy” is a great addition to this layout.
I hope I was able to give you some great crafty ideas! I had a lot of fun creating this layout with the amazing “Daydream” collection. I want to thank you for stopping by on the blog today. Wishing you a beautiful and creative day. XoXo, Jo
