Hello dear friends! It’s Kylie with you all again today, sharing a new layout I have just completed. Since it’s Mother’s Day here in Australia today, I thought it would be fitting to share a layout of that theme. I decided to use some of my Bohemian Dream stash and have combined it with a beautiful cut file which has been designed by lovely design team member Gwen, of Cut to You.
The cut file had two frames amongst leaves which were backed with the Wild and Free paper. For one frame I have fussy cut the gorgeous dream catcher 3 x 4 card from the Boho Bits paper and I have added my photo to the lower frame.Once it was all backed I adhered it to the Kaleidoscope paper with foam tape.I like the dimension and effect it gives to my layout, having it sit up from the background. For some extra colour I added two 1.5cm strips of Flower Child paper to each vertical side.
I really love to layer together different embellishments for texture and dimension. I have used the chipboard stickers, vellum accents and die cuts to support and balance my layout. Some have had foam tape added to raise them, giving a lovely natural flow.
Large titles can make such a beautiful impact to a layout. I selected the ‘Dream Big’ phrase chipboard stickers and added them to the lower side of my page. Once completed, I went back and added some of the chipboard hearts as well as a vellum butterfly to finish off my page.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you have enjoyed seeing my latest design and it gives you a little inspiration for your own scrapbooking.
Hi everyone! It’s Sue Plumb here to share my latest project with you. Today I am sharing a layout I created last weekend as part of the Cocoa Vanilla International Scrapbook Day celebration event. It was such an amazing weekend – full of fun, friendship, and of course, inspiration! I am so proud of our team and all the work they put into the event, and to hear how much everyone who took part enjoyed it, really made it all worthwhile.
So the layout I am sharing here was designed for Gwen’s “Grab 5” challenge where we had to include – a chipboard element; a die cut title; a flair button; enamel dots; and something fussy cut. I decided to document this fabulous photo of my daughter being hit with holi powder that was taken by a friend of mine who is a photographer. And what better to pair a splash of colour with, than the beautiful ‘Bohemian Dream’ collection?
Given the “arty” theme of this photograph, I decided the best approach would be to have some arty fun whilst I created it. I started with a sheet of white cardstock that I cut down to measure 11×11″ with the intention of mounting it on patterned paper later on. I pulled out my gelatos (if you don’t have gelatos you can substitute any sort of water soluble pastel or art crayon). I chose some colours that would match with the palette of the collection, and used them to create a very simple “scribbled” background in a rough square shape. I then used my fingertip and a baby wipe to blend the colours out.
With my background work complete, I then turned my attention to creating some layers for behind my photo. I gathered some scraps of the Gypsy Heart and Dreamer papers and added them behind my photo, tucking in a yellow paper doily from my stash as well. I also added a tag that I cut and the you brighten my world tag sticker from the Accessory Sticker sheet, both tied with twine.
For the fussy cut element of my page, I couldn’t go past using the stunning floral print from the collection – Abundant. I cut three pieces from the paper, tucking each of them under the edges of my photo to form a triangle around it. I also added the live a colourful life sticker along the bottom edge of the photo.
By now I needed to tick off a few other items from my criteria list, as I only had one in place so far. I grabbed a flair button from the Flair Button pack, adding it on top of the floral cluster to the left of photo. The next element I wanted to add was the chipboard element, so I chose a few pieces from the coordinating Chipboard Accent Sticker sheet – a couple of small hearts and the beautiful pink moth.
For my title, I knew exactly what I wanted it to say, so I grabbed the ‘Happiness’ Die Cut Titles pack and chose the words life is beautiful. To complete my title I fussy cut a mess from one of the cards on the cut apart Boho Bitspaper, then mounted all the words down along the right side of my photo.
I finished off my page with a scattering of sweet enamel shapes (hearts) and a splattering of some navy mist. I was so happy with how this pretty page turned out!
If you haven’t joined the INSD group yet, you can find it on Facebook HERE. There are still a few days left to enter the challenges, plus there is also a free online class from Zoe you can access (including a printable digital kit); process, live scrap and instructional videos from different members of the team; and plenty of inspiration as well, of course.
Thanks so much for stopping by today so I cold share this with you. Until next time, happy scrapping!
Hi everyone and welcome back to the Cocoa Vanilla Blog! Today’s topic is sewing, so for this layout, I used my sewing machine and also did some hand stitching. Today I’m featuring the wonderful and colorful Bohemian Dream collection.
I chose the B side of the Flower Child paper for my background. Then I ripped a wide strip from the Dreamer paper and a thinner one from the Gypsy Heart paper and stacked them together at the center of my page. In this layout I showcased two pictures of my younger daughter on the beach. These days I’m missing open spaces so much. Behind these two photos, I placed 4 of the 3″x4 “cards from the Beautiful Mess paper and I sewed all the edges with different types of stitches.
For my title, I used my Silhouette Cameo. I cut out the word happy from the Abundant paper and hand stitched it with white thread. I also cut a bigger outline of the word from vellum. I adhered the word to the vellum with foam dots and placed it under the photos.
I embellished the page with some flowers and a butterfly from the die cut shapes and also a flower from the vellum flowers. The rest of the embellishments are from the sicker sheet.
And finally some enamels dots… almost a must-have for me. I think they add such a nice touch to any project, don’t you agree?
I really love to add some kind of stitched to my projects, because it gives interest and texture. Do you usually do that? I hope you like this layout and inspires you to create something beautiful today!
It’s Tarrah back with you today, as Valentine’s Day is fast approaching I decided to create a Iove themed layout using both the Bohemian Dream collection and the Wild At Heart collection. I love how these two gorgeous collections combine together!
My photo is a fairly recent one of myself and my hubby chilling out on some deck chairs, its not often that he will get in photos with me so when I can a snap some selfies! Under the photo, I layered a piece from the Beautiful Mess paper and one of the die-cut frames from the Wild At Heart ephemera pack. I then tucked my photo and layers into the left side of the bottom XO and also having the top ‘X’ overlap onto the photo.
Anita here with you today sharing a colourful layout for our first throw back Thursday for 2020 using the Bohemian Dream collection … wow I can’t believe it’s been a year and I’m still having so much fun with Zoe’s collections they are so bright and beautiful… so my layout to day is all about my kitty Kushan..
It must be good to be a cat !! Not a care in the world, all curled up snoring his little head off …
For my layout today my inspiration is the pattern paper flower child from this collection. I wanted to use those colours of the little flower clusters..
I started off by cutting out a few cut files the envelope by Paige Evans with paper boho bits and flower clusters from the silhouette design store, I back both flower clusters with the same pattern papers – boho bits , flower child , beautiful mess and the green pattern papers from boys rulestraight and narrow and fun and games
Then next I matted my light yellow cardstock on pattern paper flower child then I wanted to add more of that bright pink colour so using another cut file heat confetti from Paige Evans I cut on thick cardstock to use as a stencil , I mixed the strawberry pigment powder with modeling paste till I had the desired colour and added it in 2 place’s on my background.
Then I started to add the flowers and the envelope to the layout popping them up with double sided foam tape to add a bit of dimension , I added some ephemera and accessory stickers to my photo and a flair to the centre of one flower. I popped out some of the chipboard titles and added some yellow paint to make my title pop and adhered them down
To finish of my layout I added a butterfly from the ephemera pack and enamel dots scattered around the flower clusters… and a stitched border around my Light yellow cardstock
I hope you are all well! Gwen here on the blog today with my last share for Cocoa Vanilla Studios for the year. This week the design team are featuring our favourite layouts for 2019.
I so love all of the pages I created this year, it really is hard to choose but I couldn’t go past this layout of my daughter and I and our Elf on the Shelf ‘Candy’. This one is not only a favourite because it is a Christmas page, but I’m also really loving the soft watercolour I’ve used on the background in this one, the cut file (CUT to YOU) and the layers of Christmas die cuts from the ‘Tis the Season‘ collection.
My second choice is “Bloom” created using the ‘Unforgettable‘ collection. I chose this page for a couple of reasons, firstly it documents me and I really don’t do enough of that! It’s about a personal journey I’ve been on these past 2 years. I also love that it was a page I taught at my local store. I love teaching and to be able to do that with the stunning collections Cocoa Vanilla makes really is a dream come true.
Lastly, I’ve included this layout “Dream”. I couldn’t help but put this in as it features my all-time favourite collection “Bohemian Dream“. The colours in this collection will never get old for me even after using it on a stack of layouts. For this one, I set about using up some of the smaller scraps I had; not wanting to throw any of it out! I’ve backed this cut file (CUT to YOU) mixing and matching all of the patterns to create this bright and happy page.
Thanks for popping by today, and for your support both personally and for Cocoa Vanilla Studios. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas! It has been such a fun year and there is lots more to come in 2020.
Gwen up on the blog today with a new share and its a fun Christmas project featuring my husband, daughter and our ‘Elf on the Shelf’ Candy on holiday in 2017. You all know how I love Christmas so this page was a heap of fun to make!
For a bit of a challenge, I decided to create the project without any ‘Christmas’ themed supplies. I really just wanted to use some things I had on hand to show that you don’t need a Christmas collection to make a pretty Christmas page. I started with my favourite collection ‘Bohemian Dream‘. I felt the cool colours of this collection would translate really well and would be perfect or those who have a cooler Christmas season.
I then pulled this cut file from CUT to YOU called ‘Roses and Frames’ and went about backing it in a section of the papers. I’ve used ‘Dreamer‘ and ‘Abundant‘ for this. Next, I’ve added a photo mat to my pictures, also using the Abundant paper. In my usual style, I’ve raised these on foam and added a stitch detail to the edge. I really love how the black and white photos work for this page, especially once I added the silver elements.
I’ve then simply added my cut file and photos centring it all on my page. I then added a border around the page edge using the ‘Abstract‘ paper. I am really loving the grid style of this cut file.
At this stage, my page was looking good, I really just needed to add in some embellishments to finish it off. I’ve pulled from my stash some Thickers letters and spelt out the title ‘Christmas’. It was at this point that I decided to try and keep the layout very balanced which is why I’ve gone with half the title on the left, the other on the right.
I’ve continued with this balanced look for all of the embellishments, starting with two of the chipboard birds and two butterflies from the ‘Die Cut Ephemera‘ pack. I’ve also added some sentiments from this pack to both photos, I really love those little tab elements. Next, I’ve chosen some stickers from the ‘Accessory Sticker Sheet‘ which I’ve placed up on foam tape for added dimension and lastly added a sparkly silver fabric bow from my stash.
Thanks for popping by today to see my latest project, I hope it inspires you to get this collection out from your stash and try a Christmas project. If it does, be sure to pop it into the Cocoa Vanilla Studio facebook group, I love seeing what you make.
Anita here with you today sharing a layout using the fabulous bohemian dream collection
For my layout today I decided on this fabulous Unicorn cut file from Paige Evans as the main feature of my layout full of vibrant colour and layered clusters of flowers..
I started with backing the unicorn cut file first with abstract and abundant and then I used kaleidoscope b side paper and matted it on dreamer pattern paper as my base for my layout and before I machine stitched around the border I folded up 2 corners and cut a 2 inch square in half to tuck underneath the corners to change the colours. I matted my photo on abundant and beautiful mess
Then using modeling paste ,stencil and paint I added some mixed media to the background to add extra colour.
Then I adhered the backed unicorn and Photo down at the same time. Then I wanted add my title using the chipboard titles but I wanted a pink title so I used some acrylic paint to change the colour and next the die cut ephemera tucking in tags, Tabs and flowers around my photo
Then I added more clusters of flowers around the unicorn and a few butterflies to finish of the page.
Hi CVS friends! I adored Bohemian Dream collection with its purple and blues, crisp white contrasts, florals and beautiful die cuts. I have created a super pretty girly layout featuring Bohemian Dream.
I have used a beautful balloon cut file from the Silhouette Design Store. I have used Dreamer paper, both sides and the fun polka dot blue paper. The purple side of Dreamer I used an embossing paper to create the polka dot effect on keeping with the navy dot paper (also the texture added is gorgeous).
Once I had paper pieced the balloons I decided to hand stitch some of the balloons and balloon string. As I do with most designs I use the rule of threes or odd numbers for visual balance (note I used three different papers for the balloons) I hand stitched three of the balloons in white thread and silver thread for the stings. It created a wonderful texture and ensures the balloons do not look flat.
I next added my 3×3 inch photo using the thin frame from the die cut pack and attaching with foam tape to add more dimension. I chose tiny floral bunches to embellish around my frame as I didn’t want the balloons covered too much which I tucked under my photo and frame. I also added several to the outer of three balloons.
I then chose word and phrase sentiments from the accessory sticker sheet in between the balloons, adding some purple sequins to draw your eye to them and break up the white.
To finish off I added my title, a sentiment banner from the die cut pack and two pretty butterflies (added with foam tape). The most time consuming part of this layout is the stitching but it really is worth the effort.
Thank you for stopping by and if you have any questions about my layout please leave in comments. Have a wonderful and creative week.
Hi there crafty friends, Anita here with you today sharing a fun Halloween layout using the beautiful bohemian dream collection … I had a fun idea to make a little witches hat and put it on our kitty Luna’s head and take a photo as you can see she was not impressed at all but I think it’s pretty cute…
I started off by choosing abstract pattern paper and a cut file spiderweb heart from Paige Evans and adhered the cut out spiderweb heart in the center of the white cardstock. Then using embroidery thread I had stitched around the web in purple then I matted the rest of the abstract pattern paper behind my trimmed white cardstock and machine stitched around the edges
Using my cameo and another cut file Halloween from Paige Evans
I used pattered paper abundant and then using beautiful mess pattern paper to back the Halloween cut file
I then matted my photo on Gypsy heart and dreamer and adhering it down
I then added double sided foam tape to to the back of the Halloween word to pop it up and adhered it down across the bottom of the photo
Using the accessory stickers I added a few to the top of my photo then some flowers from the ephemera pack around the photo and web and to finish off the layout I add a few enamel stars in 3 different colours.
