Hello Sunshine | Happy Days collection | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

Mandy here today to share a new layout featuring the gorgeous new Happy Days collection. For my project today, my task was to create a layout using a grid design. I love that there are so many ways that you can incorporate a grid into your layouts and it’s a design that I often fall back on when I’m feeling uninspired. Grid designs are all about using squares and/or rectangles, and the great thing is that you can include as few or as many photos as you want into your design. Here’s the page that I created, documenting a recent photo of my girls and I when we visited a sunflower farm.

My inspiration for the colour palette for this layout came from the Juicy Fruit paper. I love the yellows and oranges of the fruits, combined with the aqua/teal, and I decided to focus on those colours for this page as they complemented my photo perfectly. I started by cutting 2 inch squares out of papers from the A5 Paper Stack. The A5 papers are perfect for this sort of project as the patterns are smaller and it saves you from cutting into your larger 12 inch papers. Once I’d cut my squares out, I arranged them down the right hand side of a sheet of white cardstcock.

I also printed my photo as a square and positioned it amongst the smaller squares on the page. I pieced it all together a little like a puzzle until I was happy with the placement of everything. The photo was adhered with craft foam in order to give it some extra dimension on the page.

The fun part about creating a grid design layout is embellishing each of the sections in the grid. I added various die cuts and stickers to each of the squares in the grid, using foam tape to pop some up off the page. I tried to make sure that it looked well balanced by making sure that I didn’t have too much of one colour in any particular area.

For my title I used the lovely Chipboard Titles. I decided on using the ‘Hello Sunshine’ phrase as it was the perfect title for this sunshiney photo! I finished the layout off with some typed journaling strips, a doodled border, and a sprinkling of the sweet Puffy Heart Stickers.

Together | Happy Days collection | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

Mandy here today to share another layout featuring the super GORGEOUS Happy Days collection! One thing I love about this collection is how versatile it is! For my layout today I decided to scrapbook photos of my hubby and I taken when we enjoyed a date night dinner cruise. Our kids gave us a voucher for the cruise as a gift for Christmas last year, and we had such a fun night out! The Happy Days collection was perfect for documenting this special memory.

I started this layout off by cutting a 6 inch square out of the B-side of both the Definitive and the Flutterby papers. I then cut these papers in half diagonally and adhered them to the corners of a white sheet of cardstock. I chose these two papers because they matched the colours in the photos perfectly. I love the way this design frames the page and creates a diamond shape in the middle of the layout where I could add my photos and embellishing.

Of course I couldn’t resist fussy cutting some of the beautiful floral clusters out of the Lush Blooms paper.  I tucked one under the left hand side of the bottom photo, along with a die cut frame. I love the touch of prettiness that this adds to the page!

For my title, I used the word ‘Together’ from the lovely Chipboard Titles. There are so many perfect words and phrases in this pack and it makes it super easy to add a title to your layout! Plus how sweet is that font!

To balance out the floral cluster in the bottom left, I added some more fussy cut florals to the right of the top photo. This gives the layout a diagonal flow and helps to draw the viewers eye through the photos. I finished the page off with a few die cut  and fussy cut butterflies and a couple of the Puffy Stickers.

So Happy | Happy Days collection | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

I’m so thrilled to be sharing my first layout featuring the brand new Happy Days collection! As always, Zoe has knocked it out of the park with this collection! It’s bright and fun and it’s perfect for scrapping all of your happy snaps! The hardest part for me was deciding which photos I should scrap first with these beautiful products! I ended up deciding to document the first time that my eldest daughter rode her bike with no training wheels.

I couldn’t resist using all of the gorgeous patterned papers in the collection and decided to trim the papers into one inch strips and arrange them along the top and bottom of the page. I love the way this adds lots of beautiful pattern and colour to the page and draws the viewer’s eye in towards the photos. I also added the rainbow border from the Feel Good paper along the edge of the strips. For my background I chose to use the Rainbow Bright paper with the tiny hearts on it as this provided a nice neutral contrast to all of the patterned paper strips. I matted my photos with the magenta Flutterby paper and adhered them to towards the left hand side of the page, using craft foam for added dimension.

Tucked under the top edge of the photo on the left, I added a die cut pinwheel and a flag banner. These add a fun element to the page, complementing the theme of the photos. I adhered the pinwheel with foam tape and added a chipboard star to the middle of it for some extra interest.

Of course I had to use that sweet bicycle die cut on this page! I also added the ‘Love that smile’ die cut and one of the super gorgeous Puffy Hearts to finish off this little cluster of embellishments. The puffy hearts are soft and pretty!

For my title I used the words ‘So Happy’ from Chipboard Titles pack. I love the fun and playful font that’s been used for these titles! To finish off the layout I added some typed journaling, and I couldn’t resist adding a few blooms from the Floral Ephemera pack.

Beautiful Life | Daydream collection | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

Mandy here today to share my layout inspired by our ‘All things Delightful’ April mood board. Here’s a reminder of of the beautiful mood board designed by Rachel.

I was inspired by the gorgeous images of the flowers and the rainbow in the mood board, as well as the use of soft pastel colours. I couldn’t go past the gorgeous Daydream collection for this layout, and of course the Over the Rainbow paper was just perfect! The photo that I chose to scrapbook is a selfie of my hubby and I, taken when we had a little mini getaway for a few days last year.

Using that gorgeous rainbow as my background made this layout come together so quickly and easily! I started by matting my photo using the Up in the Clouds paper and adhering it on the right hand side of the rainbow. As I often do, I used craft foam under the photo to give it some added dimension.

Next I fussy cut some flowers out of the stunning Garden Variety paper and created a beautiful floral cluster on the top right hand corner of the photo. By tucking some flowers underneath the photo and adding others on top it again gives the cluster some lovely dimension and interest.

On the bottom right hand corner of the photo I created a small embellishment cluster using a die cut house and banner, as well as a couple of sweet little Puffy Stickers from the These Days collection.

To balance out the larger floral cluster, I added another smaller one in the bottom left hand corner of the layout. This cluster was also fussy cut from the Garden Varity paper. The positioning of the two florals clusters gives the layout a diagonal flow, drawing the viewer’s eye from the top right hand corner, down through the photo to the bottom left.

For my title I decided on using words from the lovely Die Cut Titles pack. These are so versatile and make it super easy to add a beautiful title to your page. I used the words ‘Beautiful Life’ which perfectly summed up this photo.

I finished the layout off by adding some die cut butterflies and hearts, as well as some Puffy Heart Stickers. I also added my typed journaling strips in the upper right hand corner of the layout.

Uni Life | These Days collection | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

Mandy here today for Throwback Thursday! I decided to dig into my stash and create a layout using the beautiful These Days collection. It was perfect for documenting these photos of my eldest daughter on her first day of uni!

I started my layout off with a sheet of the gorgeous Home Grown floral paper. Using a punch, I created a decorative border around the paper and then matted the patterned paper on a sheet of white cardstock. Next I trimmed down a sheet of the orange Wall of Fame paper to 9 inches square and layered that over the floral paper. I then matted my photos using the reverse side of the Home Grown paper and adhered them towards the top of the Wall of Fame patterned paper. So that the photos didn’t look like they were just floating, I gave them a ‘shelf’ to sit on by adding a strip of the woodgrain Pretty Posies paper underneath the photos. I also added a decorative element to this strip by punching a strip of leaves from the green Family Ties paper and adhering that across the woodgrain strip.

Using embellishments from both the Die Cut Ephemera and the Floral Ephemera packs, I created an embellishment cluster to the right of the photos. I tried to be intentional when selecting my embellishments for this page, choosing to use icons such as a typewriter and a stack of books, which tied in nicely with the theme of the layout.

I created another embellishment cluster in the bottom left hand corner of the layout, using more items from the Die Cut Ephemera pack. I chose the mug because my daughter loves to drink tea and often has a cuppa on the go while she’s doing uni work. I also added some typed journalling underneath this embellishment cluster.

To complete the visual triangle, I added a some more embellishing in the top left hand corner. I kept it fairly simple by just adding a banner and a tab as the page was already quite busy. The three embellishment clusters on the layout help to draw the viewer’s eye around the page.

For my title, I decided on using the beautiful Foam Title Stickers. However, as these photos were of a significant day, I didn’t necessarily want a generic title for this layout, so I decided to alter some of the letters to create the specific title that I wanted. The word ‘Life’ was already one of the words from the sticker pack, however to create the word ‘Uni’, I had to get a bit creative. I used the ‘U’ from the word ‘You’; the ‘N’ and the ‘I’ were both altered from other letters in the word ‘Home’. Don’t be afraid to alter embellishments to suit your layout. There’s no rules to say that you have to use them as is!

Sweet Moments | Daydream collection | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

Mandy here with you today to share a new layout using one of my all-time favourite collections, Daydream! I adore the pretty colours and sweet florals in this collection and I can’t help coming back to it time and again. The photo that I chose for this layout is one of my Mum and youngest daughter, taken recently when we enjoyed a fun girls day out, op shopping and lunching!

The gorgeous wreath on the Daisy Days paper is one of my favourites, and it was the perfect way to showcase a special photo such as this one. I decided to add some extra interest to the background by using the Sun Shower paper to frame the wreath. I did this by cutting a wavy circle out of the middle of the paper and then laying it over the wreath paper.

Next I matted my photo using one of the papers from the 6 x 8 inch Paper Stack and I adhered it at the bottom of the wreath. I added some extra die cut flowers around the bottom of the photo, adhering them with foam tape to give them some nice dimension. I also added some leaves from the These Days Floral Ephemera to the cluster, and I finished it off with a Wood Epoxy Button, also from the These Days collection.

I love combining different alphas to create my titles and on this layout I chose to use a combination of the lovely Mini Puffy Alphas from the These Days collection, with a word from the Daydream Die Cut Titles. My title ‘Sweet Moments’ was the perfect sentiment for this photo. I added my typed journaling strips underneath the title.

I finished the layout off by adding a couple of sweet little butterflies that I fussy cut from one of the 6 x 8 papers, and I also tucked one of the lovely Puffy Hearts into the cluster around the photo. I love the texture that this adds to the page!

Love | Storyteller collection | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

Mandy here today to share a new layout featuring the Storyteller collection. With Valentines Day being celebrated this week, I decided to create a ‘love’ themed scrapbook layout, documenting some photos of my hubby and I taken recently. While we don’t usually make a big deal of Valentines Day, this year marks 25 years since we started dating, and I think that’s something to celebrate!

I started my layout off by trimming a sheet of the Oh My Heart paper down to 10 1/2 inches square and adhering it to a white cardstock base. I then used a decorative trimmer to cut the wavy edges on the blue Ditsy Daisy paper, and repeated this on a sheet of white cardstock which I matted the blue paper onto. This created a fun and eye-catching base for my photos. I matted my photos on the woodgrain paper from the A5 Paper Stack and adhered them on an angle, which adds again adds to the fun and whimsical feel to the page.

I chose to narrow my colour palette down to the blues, reds and pinks in the collection and created three floral clusters using these colours. The first cluster was underneath the two photos, using some beautiful flowers and leaves from the Floral Ephemera pack. I used foam tape to adhere the floral elements, as I love creating lots of dimension on my layouts.

Next I created another cluster in the top right hand corner of the page. Again I used flowers and leaves from the Floral Ephemera pack, and I also added my title to this cluster using the word ‘love’ from the Chipboard Stickers.

I added a third floral cluster to the left of the photos. The three clusters create a visual triangle on the page, helping to draw the viewer’s eye around the layout. This cluster repeats the same colours and elements used in the first two clusters, which helps the layout to feel balanced. In addition to the floral elements I also added a a little Chipboard banner Sticker to the cluster.

A ‘love’ themed layout wouldn’t be complete without some hearts, so I finished the layout off with a sprinkling of Chipboard, Die Cut, and Puffy hearts. I also added a couple of little phrase Stickers underneath the photo on the left.

Ho Ho Ho | Joyful collection | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

Mandy here today to share a new layout featuring the ever-so-sweet Joyful collection. I’m still documenting our Christmas memories and for this page I chose to scrapbook a few family pics from our annual tree decorating day. Of course I couldn’t go past using the lovely Joyful collection with it’s fresh colours and super cute woodland creatures.

My favourite patterned paper in this collection is the gorgeous Holly Days paper. I’ve already created two other layouts featuring the beautiful wreath from this paper, but I love it so much that I wanted to use it again for this layout! I started with this paper as my background and used the wreath design to frame my three square photos. Each of the photos were matted with a different patterned paper from the A5 Paper Stack to help them pop off the page, and one of the photos was adhered with craft foam for extra dimension.

I fussy cut some additional flowers from the beautiful Tis the Season paper to add around the wreath. This again helped give the layout some additional movement and dimension. I embellished around the photos with various die cuts including the cute little squirrel and a banner with the phrase ‘The most wonderful time’.

In the centre of a couple of the flowers I added a Gold Glitter Puffy Star. I love the extra sparkle and pizzazz that this adds to the page! Perfect for a Christmas themed layout! For my title I chose the ‘Ho Ho Ho’ chipboard sticker.

I created a little embellishment cluster at the bottom of the wreath that includes a sweet reindeer die cut and a couple of gifts. To add the date to my layout I used a label from the Accessory Sticker sheet. A sprinkling of die cut, puffy and gold stars were the final finishing touches to the page.

The Good Life | Sunkissed + Unforgettable collections | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

Mandy here today and I’m sharing a layout featuring a couple of older Cocoa Vanilla collections. Our theme this week on the blog is ‘Mixed Collections’ and so I’ve chosen to use both the Sunkissed and Unforgettable collections. With the weather warming up, I was in the mood to create a bright and fun summery layout, and these two collections worked perfectly for this! The photos that I’ve scrapbooked on this page are of my youngest daughter and I when we had a little girls weekend away together recently.

I started my layout off by trimming 1 12 inches off one side of a sheet of white cardstock, and then matting it on the aqua stripe Splightly patterned paper from the Unforgettable collection. I added some machine stitching down the sides of the white cardstock to give the layout some subtle texture. I then adhered a piece of the gorgeous pink Unscripted paper, also from the Unforgettable collection, on the right hand side of the page.

I printed my photos at 3×4 inches and first matted them side-by-side on white cardstock. I then added some layers of patterned paper behind the photos using the beautiful Natural Beauty paper from the Unforgettable collection and the blue Bright Side paper from the Sunkissed collection. I then adhered the photos towards the bottom of the pink patterned paper, sitting slightly off to the left hand side.

Next I pulled out the gorgeous Growing Wild paper from the Sunkissed collection and fussy cut a couple of floral clusters. I tucked one under the top left hand corner of the photo mat. I also added a couple of extra flowers from the Sunkissed Floral Ephemera pack. To finish the cluster off I added a beautiful butterfly die cut from the Unforgettable Ephemera pack and a little banner die cut that says ‘Sweet Memories’ from the Sunkissed Ephemera.

I adhered another smaller fussy cut floral cluster on the bottom right hand corner of the photo mat. You can also see here that I added an Enamel Dot from the Unforgettable collection to the centre of some of the flowers. I like the way that this just adds a little bit more interest to them.

I created one final embellishment cluster to the right of the title, which completes the visual triangle. This cluster includes a Die Cut camera from the Unforgettable collection, a few more flowers and leaves from the Sunkissed Floral Ephemera pack, as well as a die cut banner from the Sunkissed collection. I adhered the banner with craft foam which gives it some nice dimension, and once again I used an enamel dot to add some extra detail to one of the flowers and the camera.

For my title I chose to use one of the phrases from the Unforgettable Foam Title Stickers. ‘The Good Life’ seemed to fit these photos perfectly! I love the way the title contrasts against the bright colours in the papers and embellishments and adds a nice pop to the page!

I finished the layout off by sprinkling around some die cut, foam and puffy hearts.

This makes me Smile | Storyteller collection | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

Mandy here with you today to share another layout using the amazing Storyteller collection! For today’s layout I chose to document a few photos from my recent birthday. We went out for brekkie in the morning, which is one of my favourite things to do. It was the perfect way to start the day, and even though we didn’t end up being able to go the beach like we’d planned because it rained, I had such an amazing day. The Storyteller collection was perfect for scrapbooking these happy snaps taken of me with family while we were out to brekkie.

 

I started this layout off by trimming down a sheet of white cardstock and matting it on the green Fly Away paper. I then printed my three 3×4 inch photos and arranged them into a photo strip. I layered multiple patterned paper, mostly from the A5 Paper Stack, behind the photos to create a bright and colourful photo mat.

I love fussy cutting the beautiful floral clusters on the Spring Fling paper to embellish my layouts with. Here you can see that I added one of these floral clusters to the right of the photo strip. I adhered just the centre of the flowers to the page, allowing the leaves and springs to lift off the page to create some movement and interest.

I added another fussy cut floral cluster to the left of the photos. This one I adhered with foam tape and overlapped it over the edge of the photos. I also added a wood epoxy button to the centre of the larger flower in the cluster. I love the texture and dimension that this adds to the page.

Lastly I added my title and journaling. I couldn’t go past using the amazing Foam Title Stickers for my title. There are so many great words and phrases in this pack, and I settled on using the phrase ‘This makes me Smile’. It was the perfect sentiment for these photos. I typed my journaling on my typewriter and added the journaling strips under the title.

I finished the layout off by adding a few die cut butterflies and a sprinkling of puffy heart stickers to the page.
