Jo comes from the beautiful Netherlands, near The Hague by the sea, and also has the forest close by. She lives with her husband, who is in the army, and their two teenage children. She works part-time as a chiropractor assistant and exercises almost every day. Jo loves being creative and says scrapbooking to her is like mindfulness. She loves the time to herself to document her family stories and says "being in my own world for a while and having fun with beautiful materials feels like heaven!" If you’re a fan of nature-inspired scrapbook layouts, you’ll absolutely love working with the “Great Escape” collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio. This stunning outdoor-themed collection is perfect for capturing those adventurous moments, whether it’s a hike through the woods or a day spent exploring a new park. Recently, I created a layout using this collection, and I wanted to share the details with you.

 

 

For this particular layout, I decided to focus on one of my favorite elements: butterflies. Using the beautiful design papers from the “Great Escape” collection, I carefully cut out several butterfly shapes in various sizes. To add an extra touch of detail and dimension, I hand-stitched around the edges of each butterfly with white thread. This simple yet effective technique gives the butterflies a delicate, textured look that really stands out on the page.

 

 

Next, I turned to the paper die-cuts included in the collection. These die-cuts are absolutely gorgeous and incredibly versatile. I selected a variety of designs and arranged them along a horizontal line that runs across the layout. I made sure to align this line with the height of my photo, creating a balanced and cohesive design.

 

The final result is a layout that truly captures the essence of an outdoor adventure. The combination of the stitched butterflies and the playful arrangement of die-cuts adds both texture and visual interest, drawing the eye across the page. The “Great Escape” collection provided the perfect palette and elements to bring this nature-inspired scrapbook page to life.

Beautiful Nature | Happy Days | Josefine vd Hoeven

Welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio scrapbook blog today. We’re happy that you’re looking for new inspiration with the amazing collections from Cocoa Vanilla Studio. Today, I’ve created a new scrapbook layout using the beautiful and cheerful “Happy Days” collection.

 

I’ve incorporated a lot of color in my layout, and to create a striking contrast, I chose to print my photos in black and white. For my design, I selected patterned paper with rainbow colors. Using a two-inch circle punch, I punched out several circles and folded them in half. I then stitched the folded circles with white thread using a sewing machine. Next, I arranged them in a color pattern on a subtle patterned paper that serves as the base for my layout.

 

 

The black and white photos are placed on the right side, accented with floral clusters both above and below them. For the title, I used the elegant black foam title “Beautiful” from the Storyteller collection. I completed the title with the small colorful puffy alpha set from the Happy Days collection. I cut out three lemons from the patterned paper and made a 3D lemon—so cute!

 

I scattered a few die-cuts, butterflies, and word strips throughout my scrapbook layout. The result is a delightful, summery layout made with the fantastic “Happy Days” collection. I hope I was able to inspire you, and I’ll see you next time.

Welcome to today’s Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog for some fresh and summery Scrapbook inspiration! I’ve chosen for the collection called “Sunkissed” What a delightful collection, perfect for happy and colorful summer moments. I wanted to document this photo of my daughter traveling around beautiful Bali and the “Sunkissed” collection is a perfect fit. 

 

 

I’m starting with a white piece of cardstock paper as the base of my layout. I’m using a dark blue distress oxide called “faded jeans.” I apply the ink with a damp sponge, dabbing it onto the white cardstock paper until I’m satisfied with the mixed media background. I also splatter some extra blue ink with a brush for a playful effect.

 

 

I choose two pictures , cut them to size, and place a frame between the pictures. I try to match the colors of the design paper with the photo. I position the pictures and the frame in the center of the layout.

 

 

Now it’s time to create clusters, and I select various flower die-cuts for the clusters. I use 3D foam for the clusters to make the flowers stand out beautifully on the blue mixed media background. For the title, “Bali” I use the black and white title chipboard. These match perfectly with the stunning colors in the collection. I place the title under the photo. I further embellish my layout with adorable blue puffy hearts. I fussy cut a few butterflies from the patterned paper and give them a place among the flowers.

The great outdoors | Great Escape | Josefine Van der Hoeven

and welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog! I’m so glad you’re here seeking new scrapbook inspiration and are curious about the fantastic new collection called “Great Escape.” Today, I’m excited to share how I was inspired by the June challenge. I love stars, so I dove into fussy cutting and had a blast creating this layout.

 

First, I began by selecting a sheet of patterned paper filled with stars and cutting out each one. For the background, I opted for a crisp white 12×12 cardstock to make the stars pop. Using my electronic cutting machine, I cut a circular frame, which I placed in the center of the white cardstock. To add a subtle touch of detail, I stitched a delicate white border around the circle.

 

Next, I adhered my photo partially onto the circular frame, using patterned paper as a backdrop to give it an extra layer of interest. With the photo in place, it was time to arrange all those carefully cut stars. I wanted to create a playful and dynamic effect, so I scattered the stars around the photo and the circular frame, using 3D foam to lift them off the page slightly. This gave the layout depth and a fun, interactive feel. Once the stars were securely in place, it was time to add the title. I chose the elegant black titles from the collection, placing the title right in the center of the circle. The bold, stylish lettering contrasted beautifully with the white background and colorful stars, making the title stand out prominently.

To finish off the layout, I added some splatters of blue distress ink. This little touch brought a sense of whimsy and tied the entire composition together. I let the ink dry naturally, which added a bit of texture and dimension to the page.

 

 

By focusing on the star theme and using techniques like fussy cutting and layering with 3D foam, this layout captures the essence of adventure and exploration that “Great Escape” embodies. Whether you’re documenting outdoor memories or simply love celestial designs, this collection offers endless possibilities for creative expression. Welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog! It’s great that you’re looking for new scrapbook inspiration. Today, I have a new scrapbook layout made with the beautiful “Storyteller” collection designed by Cocoa Vanilla Studio. These stunning fresh colors really bring your layout to life.

 

 

I wanted to use this photo of my daughter in Sydney. I decided to punch out various hearts using my heart punch and chose different patterned papers. I playfully arranged the hearts in the center of my white cardstock. On top, I placed the photo of my daughter posing in front of the beautiful Sydney Opera House.

 

I selected various paper die-cut flowers and created two lovely flower clusters. I also wanted to use the paper die-cut shapes, like the a cute camera, banner, and several mini hearts to give a place on this layout. For the title, I chose the elegant black foam titles. These black elegant words go wonderfully well with this amazing collection.

 

I added some splatters with white gesso, which I mixed with water, and also splattered some of my blue distress ink “Faded Jeans. I hope I have been able to inspire you with this layout and look forward to seeing you again next time on the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog. Welcome to the scrapbook blog of Cocoa Vanilla Studio. It’s great to see you here looking for some new scrapbook inspiration. It’s May, and this month it’s all about flowers. Have you seen the new challenge yet, the Flower Frenzy Challenge? For this challenge, we invite you to use flowers as the main design element of your layout.

 

 

 

I found this challenge really exciting, so I dived into it using the beautiful “Storyteller” collection. I started by fussy cutting flowers from the patterned paper. I combined these flowers with the die-cut floral ephemera. Then, I trimmed some blue patterned paper to size and placed it behind the photo of my daughter. This photo was a perfect fit for the theme. She was posing by a small restaurant in Mexico, hidden behind a stunning sea of flowers.

 

 

 

Placing the photo roughly in the center of the white cardstock, I began creating a gigantic cluster of flowers above it. I was pleasantly surprised by how it turned out. On either side of the photo, I added a few small flowers and leaves in a playful manner. For the title, I used the word “Lovely” in black foam, and for the word “you,” I used a green alpha from my own stash. I thought the red puffy heart was a lovely finishing touch for the title.

 

 

Finally, I added some circle puffy stickers around the flower cluster. I had so much fun with the Cocoa Vanilla Studio May challenge, and I’m really pleased with how this floral layout turned out. Road trip to LA | Hap[py Days | Josefine ven der Hoeven

Welcome to Cocoa Vanilla Studio’s blog, and how wonderful that you’re looking for new scrapbook inspiration. Today, I’ve created a new scrapbook layout using the amazing and colorful “Happy Days” collection designed by Cocoa Vanilla Studio. These vibrant colors really give your layout that summery feel. I love to use this photo of my daughter on the Beverly Hills boulevard and chose to use a cut file from the Cricut store, I absolutely love this Destination Icon. I thought it was quite fitting the theme.

 

I cut the file from the beautiful yellow patterned paper of the “Happy Days” collection and placed the photo in the open center. I stitched the edges with white thread, using my sewing machine. I positioned the Destination Icon in the center of the 12×12 white cardstock sheet, which I’m using as my base.

 

I created flower clusters on the bottom left and top right corners. I used the die-cut flower shapes but also fussy-cut some flowers from the matching patterned paper of the “Happy Days” collection. I also cut out some butterflies and placed them around the flower clusters. I selected some fun die-cut shapes like the flag and the camera and giving them a place among the flowers.

 

For the title, I used the elegant puffy titles from the “Great Escape” collection. The title I’ve chosen for this scrapbook layout is “Road trip to LA. I added some splatters with white gesso, which I mixed with water, and also splattered some of my yellow distress ink “Fossilized Amber.” around the flower clusters.

Let’s Explore | Great Escape | Josefine van der Hoeven

Welcome to Cocoa Vanilla Studio’s blog, and I’m thrilled to have you here for some new scrapbook inspiration featuring the amazing “Great Escape” collection.

In a few weeks, we’ll be jetting off to New York City! Yay… I can hardly wait to create beautiful family memories together in this iconic city. My canvas for today is a 12×12 white cardstock. I’ve used blue distress ink to create watercolor circles. Using a breakfast plate, I inked the edges with the blue distress ink and water. Then, flipping the plate over, I made various prints on the 12×12 white cardstock. The shade of blue distress ink I used is “faded jeans”.

Now, it’s time for some fussy cutting. I’ve selected a patterned paper with stars and cut out several stars from it. I layer three stars on top of each other and sew them together using a sewing machine, then individually place them in a circle on my layout. In the center of the stars, I place a puffy sticker.

The photo capturing the breathtaking view of New York City is placed in the center and embellished with a cardstock circle die-cut and a word sticker. For the title, I’ve used the beautiful black ornate word titles and created the title “Let’s Explore”, which is exactly what we’ll be doing in New York!

 

I add some blue splatters with the distress ink and also create white splatters using white gesso, applying them with a watercolor brush. I scatter a few small stars in different places among the larger stars for a playful effect.

Lovely view Costa Rica | Daydream | Josefine vd Hoeven

 

Hello creative Paperlovers,

Welcome and how lovely to see you on the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog. This time, I’ve created a scrapbook layout using the oh-so-beautiful “Day Dream” collection. I had some scraps left over and couldn’t resist capturing the gorgeous view of Costa Rica with Day Dream. The view is truly dreamy.

 

 

As almost always, my base is a lovely white sheet of cardstock. I use an extra white cardstock sheet to cut out a square of 8×8 inches. I stitch the edges of the square with a white stitched border using white sewing thread and placing the 8×8 square on my desk.

 

I start decorating the edges with the fussy-cut Day Dream flowers. I create lovely clusters of flowers both in the top left and bottom right corners. I die-cut four butterflies from the 5×8 patterned paper  pack and stitch them in the center with white sewing thread. I frame the photo with a wood-colored photo frame and position it in the center of the custom-cut 8×8 square.

 

For the title, I use various alphabet sets and a black and white word title. The colored puffy stickers are from the “These Days” collection. The title of this layout is “Lovely View, Costa Rica.” I scatter the butterflies playfully across the layout. I also cut out a few more butterflies from the Day Dream patterned paper and place them on top of the clusters.

I fold the edges of the 8×8 square slightly and then adhere the square on top of the white 12×12 cardstock sheet using 3D foam tape. This makes it protrude slightly from the whole, giving a very nice and playful effect. Finally, I mix white gesso with some water and splatter it onto my layout. Memories around the world | Happy Days | Josefine van der Hoeven

Welcome, Paperlovers,

And welcome on the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog today! It’s fantastic to have you join us today. This time, I’ve been inspired by the Great Escape Challenge at Cocoa Vanilla Studio.

The challenge: scrap about your adventures, big or small, near or far… I chose to create a scrapbook layout filled with memories around the world. I’ve traveled to many places in Europe, America, Central America, and Africa. For this layout, I could only choose four, so I selected different countries across the globe where I’ve made fantastic memories such as Egypt, Jamaica, Austria, and Switzerland.

For this layout, I use for a white cardstock background and used a cut file from the Cricut Store. I cut out a globe and backed it with a blue-green patterned paper. The edge of the globe is adorned with a green stitched border.

Next, I selected some gold photo frames and matched them with various patterned papers and photos. I arranged the frames with the photos playfully around the globe. On the right side, I created a cluster of flower die-cuts, butterflies, and leaves. This cluster adds a little extra holiday vibe to my layout.

For the title, I used the lovely colored mini puffy alphas along with the black and white cardboard words. The title of this layout is “Memories around the world.” I’m a fan of the small mini sticker hearts from this collection, so I used them in clusters of three between the photo frames.

I also cut out a few butterflies and scattered them randomly across the layout. I added some splatters with white gesso and green watercolor. I love the playful effect of the splatters.
