0 Sleep’s ’til Christmas | Joyful Collection | Raquel Bowman

Hi everyone, I am here on the blog sharing a new layout with you this Christmas season featuring the amazing Joyful collection. Every release of a new Christmas collection brings me a moment to reflect on our Christmas past. I decided to create a layout based on our 2020 Christmas morning.

Here is the layout that I created:

The layout today features a photo of my babes on Christmas morning last year – I framed the photo in a paper from the collection, as always I have added a white border to my photo to give a definite border. I printed the photo in black and white so that I could incorporate a variety of colours to my page,

One main feature of this layout is the cut file. A gift wrapping look from Cut to You which I backed with the gorgeous red paper in the A5 paper stack and green papers from the Deck the Halls paper and the Making Spirits Bright paper.

I used a variety of embellishments from the latest collection, including fussy cut florals from the ‘Tis the season‘ paper. The love of these florals; I never tire of them. 

My fave feature of this layout is the tags that I have hung off the bow of the cut file. The ‘0 sleeps tip Christmas’ is a sticker from the accessory sheet which I have made into a tag. This sticker inspired the title of the page. The ‘0’ is actually an ‘o’ from within a word in the titles pack. I love that it adds and continues the pops of gold within the page.

To the left of the photo I have also included more fussy cut florals but also cute Christmas icons like the presents, stars and holly. These were all from the ephemera pack or the titles pack. The ‘Christmas’ is from the chipboard sheet, it is hard to capture in a photograph how gorgeous these chipboard pieces are with the gold foiling.

CHRISTMAS JOY | JOYFUL | GWEN WRUCK

Hi Creative Friends,

Gwen back on the blog today with a new share using the ‘Joyful’ collection.  I am loving using these supplies for my Christmas scrapbooking this year.  Today I’m documenting a series of photos of my daughter from quite a few years back.  I don’t usually scrapbook with multiple photos so it’s nice to be able to do something a little different for this page and document this sweet little moment.

For this layout, I decided on a grid design.  To help me with that, I’m using the ‘Pocket Cards’.  I went ahead and chose several to create six blocks for the grid on my layout.  I’ve used the ‘Very Merry’ pattern paper for my background and the ‘Holly Days’ stripe pattern as my border.  I’ve also used this stripe to create my photo mats, making sure that I keep all of my stripes running left to right.

I’ve added in my signature stitching elements to the page as well, around the photos and also the border of the layout.  I’m loving this soft peach colour with this collection, it contrasts beautifully.

I was also keen to use the ‘Christmas Joy’ title from the ‘Chipboard Stickers Pack’.  It’s quite a substantial piece so I knew I had to get it into position early in the design.  I decided to centre it under two of my photos placed towards the left of the page.  To balance that out, I’ve placed my third photo towards the right hand side of my page.

I’ve then gone ahead and created several embellishment clusters, treating each block as a section but also making sure that everything balances out on the page overall.  I’ve mixed and matched elements from the ‘Die Cut Ephemera’ pack, the ‘Chipboard Stickers’, fussy cut florals from the ‘Tis the Season’ pattern paper, the ‘Accessory Stickers Sheet’ and even some of the ‘Epoxy Buttons’.

Once all of the embellishments were placed, I’ve gone back and added in some more stitching around the edges of each of the pocket cards which you can see here… AND… how sweet is this bunny from the ‘Die Cut Ephemera pack’?  I love how it sits on top of the wreath that is printed on the pocket card.  I’ve added mine here with dimensional tape to create layers on my page.

The shine of the gold foil on the elements in this collection is so lovely.  Here you can see the thickness of the chipboard in my title and that shine!

Holly Jolly Christmas | Joyful Collection | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

Mandy here today to share some more inspiration featuring the gorgeous new Joyful collection! I’m absolutely loving using this collection to document some fun festive photos from Christmas last year, and on this layout I chose to scrapbook a beautiful photo of my girls on the day we decorated our tree.

I decided on using the Deck the Halls paper as the background for my layout, and I trimmed it down so that I could matt it with the gorgeous Tis the Season paper. I framed it with both the red and the floral side of the paper. The colours in this collection are so fresh and pretty, and I wanted to feature lots of those beautiful colours and patterns on this page.

Next I chose a few patterned papers from the A5 Paper Stack, and I layered them together to create a matt for for my photo to sit on. I outlined the pink paper with a white gel pen to give it some extra definition. I also matted my photo with a couple of the A5 papers, and then I adhered it with craft foam.

Of course I couldn’t resist fussy cutting some of those stunning florals on the Tis the Season paper! I created an embellishment cluster on the bottom left hand corner of the photo using the florals, and I also tucked in the sweetest little Chipboard bird, and a Wood Epoxy Button.

I created a second cluster of embellishments to the right of the photo. In this cluster I included another fussy cut floral, as well as a few Die Cuts, and another Wood Epoxy Button. I just love the adorable little woodland creatures in this collection! I also added a Chipboard banner on the top right hand corner of the photo. The gold foiling on the stickers in this collection adds such a nice touch to Christmas projects!

For my title I combined a couple of the little word stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet with the ‘Jolly’ Die Cut, to create the phrase ‘Holly Jolly Christmas’. I added this along the bottom of my photo. To finish the layout off I sprinkled around some gold stars from the Puffy Gold Title Stickers.

Explore | Hello Sunshine | Laura Alberts

Hi y’all! Laura Alberts here with a patterned paper background for Throwback Thursday! I dug deep into my stash for the oldest Cocoa Vanilla Studio collection I own. Using the last scraps of Hello Sunshine for this one including my last full 12×12 piece of paper. My favourite parts of this collection are the denim patterns and florals, so I used them on nearly every layout. It’s such a cool mix of designs! I used a set of cut files from Liz Longest Designs and filled them with the scraps.

I fussy cut these florals from one of the patterned papers and layered them in large clusters behind either side of my photos to keep the focus in the center. Adding Nuvo drops in the centers gives them a more 3-D appearance and a little sparkle! I tucked in some of the Endless Summer enamel shapes amidst the florals for more texture and then two layered butterflies from the Endless Summer ephemera pack at the corners of my photo. Mixing these collections together has helped me finish both off this year!

The details on these alphas are brilliant and I have stretched these so far with this collection! Loving the denim-like texture and stitching, so I popped them up with foam strips to give them added depth. Instead of journaling, I used the word strips that I fussy cut from a patterned paper to create a staggered list of the phrases that fit this moment. It reads like a stream of consciousness perspective and I love that!

Hey Santa | Joyful Collection | Danni Visser

Hi Cocoa Vanilla Studio fans! Danni here with another layout using the incredible new Joyful collection to document a treasured holiday memory. I love how the soft colours in this collection highlight the bright reds in my photo without competing with it as the main focus of the layout.

I started by using some of the smaller patterned papers in the A5 paper stack to back the candy cane cutfile by COAPA Cutfiles. I chose pink and white for the candy cane, red and green for the holly and that gorgeous mustard for the bow.  I cut the cutfile in black cardstock to help it pop against the soft pastel colours. I also went ahead and matted my photo using the A5 paper stack papers.

I chose the gorgeous soft pink plaid pattern of the Advent 12×12 patterned paper as my background. I love how the subtle pattern adds interest while the soft colour prevents the background from being too busy. I added some additional details to the background with delicate green, pink and mustard ink splatters.

Once I had my photo and cutfile positioned on the page, I could go ahead and incorporate all the smaller elements. I couldn’t resist using the ‘Hey Santa’ title from the puffy gold title stickers for this photo – it was simply perfect! I added a couple of the small phrases from the accessory stickers below my title in place of journaling.

I created three small embellishment clusters around my layout to draw the eye around the page. I started with pieces from the chipboard stickers to begin building my clusters because I wanted to include a chipboard candy cane in two of the clusters to mirror my cutfile. I built up my clusters using a combination of presents, leaves and little animals from the die cut ephemera as well as the puffy stickers. To finish my clusters I added a wood button and some coiled gold thread to each one.

To tie in the black of the cutfile to the rest of the layout, I used a black pen to outline some of the die cut ephemera pieces and to add a sketchy border around the outside of the layout. As a finishing touch I added a sprinkling of shiny gold stars from the puffy gold title stickers randomly around each of my embellishment clusters.

Holly Jolly | Joyful Layout | Anna Komenda

Hello, hello. Do you feel the christmas spirit already? My christmas tree and decorations are already up and we had snowfall few days ago so world outside the window is all white and clean. Let’s hope it will stay that way for next two weeks. I still need to wrap the presents and bake gingerbreads with kids. Before new batch of christmas photos will arrive, I am reaching out to the last year pictures to scrapbook them with the brand new “Joyful” collection. I only made one page so far with it, so it’s still quite new to me.

I printed myself two photos of my girls posing next to the christmas tree. I was staring at them, thinking how can I build my page when revelation striked! I will make a christmas tree to match the photos! I started with cutting it from “Making spirits bright” paper into triangular shapes and adding fringe to them. I didn’t measured anything and free cut everything with pair of scissors. My tree has 6 layers, one slightly smaller than another.

“Desk the halls” paper turned out to be a perfect background for my composition. It’s not only decorated with tiny trees but also is not busy and doesn’t draw attention from the main composition. While I as putting my tree together, I added a layer of foam tape under each triangle to make it more dimensional. I decorated everything with tiny stars that I found in ephemera pack and on chipboard stickers sheet. I also hanged some candy canes to make it even more festive and cute.

Bottom part of the tree is decorated with a gifts because this is where they usually magically appear brought by Santa. They are a mix of paper ones from ephemera pack and thicker, chipboard presents from chipboard sticker sheet. Did I mentioned this is my favorite product from this collection? They are just too perfect and too cute with their golden foiling. There is also little fox watching over the presents.

My photos are overlapping the tree a bit so it’s a natural continuation with the tree from the pictures. I added few smaller inscriptions here and there as a decorations. You can also find two more critters on the page – squirell and little bird. They create visual triangle on the layout. My title is also made with bits and pieces from ephemera pack but you can choose from many more words and phrases from golden puffy title stickers. I added a lot of dimension to my page and most of the elements are raised above the level of base paper.

I finished my project by adding three woodies (they also create a visual triangle) and some gold and red splatters. The page was done and I already cleared my desk but I felt like it was still missing something. I came back to finish it later with red stitching around the layout, that created sort of the frame. this stronger accent making it more expressive.

I love how this page turned out and I love this christmas tree idea. I will for sure recreate it in a smaller scale on cards. Yep… I still haven’t made them and didn’t mailed them. Fingers crossed Polish Post will act quickly and deliver them all on time.

My December Daily Traveller’s Notebook | Joyful Collection | Melissa Vining

Hi everyone, it’s Melissa here and I’m so excited to be sharing my first project with the beautiful new Joyful Collection!  We’ve recently moved house again and life has been crazy busy.  For my December Daily this year I’ve decided to keep it super simple (well attempt to!) and work with a handmade homemade Traveller’s Notebook.  Joyful is so perfect to document my December and I have everything I need to make a cute TN!

I went through the beautiful papers and just had to make my cover with Tis The Season, the florals are just so gorgeous!! I added a Pocket Card for my title, and hand stitched around the edge of the frame for added texture and interest.  I used some number stickers from my stash for the “25”.

I embellished with a Puffy Star, Accessory Sticker and one of the Die Cut Ephemera.

My first inside pages of my December Daily are always the same, I have our names and ages and oh boy time seems to be flying by!  I’ve been doing this project for 10 years now!!  I used another Pocket Card for my journaling.  I embellished with a tab from the Die Cut Ephemera and some fussy cut flowers from Tis The Season.

My first page is always journaling the reason why I create my album, which is very much inspired by Ali Edwards (the creator of December Daily).  I Used a piece of paper from the A5 Paper Stack which I tied a bow with twine from my stash.  I wrote my journalling on some white card stock and created my title with a phrase from the Puffy Title Stickers.  They are gold and so pretty!

I finished with a tiny Puffy Sticker Christmas tree.  I outlined around all of my pages with black pen, and no its not perfect but thats ok!  I hope you enjoyed seeing the first couple of pages of my December Daily!  I’ll be back later in the month with some more pages that include photos of the days.

Christmas | Josefine vd Hoeven | Joyful collection

Hello paperlovers,
Welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog today! It’s Josefine here sharing a new scrapbook layout. The festive December month has begun and I couldn’t wait to create a Christmas layout by using this amazing Christmas collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio. There are so many beautiful embellishments in this collection that I actually want to use everything on my page.

I love the magical atmosphere during the month of December! Everything feels so much nicer and always look forward to spending the Christmas days with my loved ones. I made a mixed media background with the Distress Oxide color “flamingo kitch” by using a background stamp. I make various prints on the white cardstock and when the mixed media background is large enough I made some splashes with the pink Distress Oxide color.

I stitched a pattern on my layout and used two colors of embroidery thread and some glass beads. I love how festive it looks. I cut out a picture of my daughter into a circle and also cut two circles from the beautiful design papers of this wonderful collection. I stitch the edges of the circles with gold sewing thread. I place the circles in the center of my layout and now it’s time to decorate.

I fussy cut the super cute stars from the design paper and fold them in 3D. I placed the stars in different places on the layout. I also fussy cut some flowers and twigs from the design paper and made a cluster on both sides of the photo with the flowers, twigs and die-cuts. The beautiful gold title “Christmas” I place on top.

I decorate my page with the beautiful and cute little puffy stickers, golden stars and 3D stars. I placed these randomly on my page. It’s an explosion of awesome embellishments around the festive Christmas photo. I splash with white acrylic paint for a snow effect.

 

I had so much fun making this festive Christmas layout! All those beautiful colors, cute die-cuts, gold stars and cardstock stickers. I can’t get enough of it. I hope I was able to inspire you and wish everyone a very happy December month. Let’s celebrate this month together! Until next time!

Christmas Advent | Joyful Collection | Michelle Stokes

Hey Everyone! It’s Michelle here today and a Happy Festive season to you all. I hope you’re having an enjoyable month and aren’t as stressed out an unprepared as I am. Our Elf only made her appearance for these photos, and has since disappeared again lol. As you can see I’ve created something a little different, a fun little Christmas Advent ‘Calendar’ (aka completely forgot to buy one from the shops) using the sweet Joyful Collection. We’ve set it up in Leila’s smaller Christmas as the pastel colours suited a white tree background.

As soon as I saw the Advent Paper in this collection I just knew I needed to create something using it, and what a perfect way to do so by creating a hanging “Advent calendar”. Each pocket was made using all the different pattern papers from the A5 paper stack and decorated using ephemera pieces, accessory stickers and fussy cut florals from the ‘Tis the Season‘ Paper in both 12×12 & A5 sizes. Oh and of course, numbered using the ‘Advent’ paper which only comes in the 12×12 size.

Here’ how the pockets look hanging from the tree…

You’ll see in these close ups I’ve cut the tops of each pocket in different ways, attached the string randomly and also added some white cardstock stars and the cute gold puffy stars. The paper chain was made a couple years back using the bohemian Dream collection

As the tree has so much decoration we left all other decorations off and only added the Santa llama and angel on top.

All the empty pockets are left either at the bottom of the tree, or in a little basket I’ve sat next to the elf house to the left of the tree.

Heres a closer look at all of the different pockets, they’re all so cute I cant pick which ones are my favourite.

I kept all pockets roughly 4 inch tall and 2.5 wide to ensure we could fit full size Freddo Frogs, Caramello Koalas and theres even a mini Chomp bar here and there. Love us come Cadbury Favourites here YUM!

Each pocket is folded over at the back and adhered along the bottom edge using a stapler as the tape adhesive wouldn’t stay shut once the chocolates were inside. You could also sew along the bottom edge for a little extra detail on the pocket.

Embellishments are layered using different forms of adhesive, from regular double sided roller tape to foam for a little extra dimension. Although once the chocolate is inside the entire pocket pops with dimension/.

The cute hand-drawn animals in this collection are just so sweet, and easy to use on these little pockets of chocolatey goodness.

Fa La La | Joyful Collection | Kylie Kingham

December is here and the festive season is in full swing! It’s Kylie with you today and I have another layout to share featuring the new ‘Joyful’ collection, to hopefully give a little holiday scrapbooking inspiration. I absolutely love every single paper design so I wanted to challenge myself to try and use nearly every single one in a layout. Thanks to the Tree Border cut file designed by Paige Evans, I think I was able to come pretty close!

Once I had cut out the 3 tree borders with my Cameo, I was able to back them with papers from the A5 paper pack. I like using this paper pack for cut files as it saves my 12 x 12 papers. I used brown cardstock from my craft stash for the tree trunks and adhered them to my background paper with foam adhesive squares.

With so much colour happening in my background I didn’t feel the need to ‘over-embellish’ my layout. My photo was trimmed to measure 5″x 3.75″ and adhered to a photo mat measuring 5.25″ x 4″.Once it was adhered into place I added a few cute die cuts and a title from the die cut pack.
