Paperclip Mini Album | These Days Collection | Danni Visser

Hi Cocoa Vanilla fans! Danni here with a little paperclip mini album using the 3×4 pocket cards from These Days collection. This was super easy to make and looks so cute! I have been struggling with documenting lockdown memories, so I decided to focus on all the positive moments from the first half of last year. The cozy, homey elements from These Days were absolutely perfect for this project.

I have had this large paperclip for quite some time, so I was pleased to find it was the perfect size for this album. I chose a handful of my favourite 3×4 pocket cards, then cut some long thin strips of patterned paper for the hinges. I made these into loops with glue and staples before threading them onto the paperclip. You can see the full process in video on the Cocoa Vanilla Studio YouTube channel.

I printed a handful of my favourite ‘staying home’ memories and printed them to 2×3 inches. This is the perfect size for a tiny 3×4 album. I decided to decorate the pages first and add them to the hinges at the end. This made the decorating process much easier.

I decorated the cover with a puffy heart and some fussy cut butterflies. On the inside of the cover I included a fold out with a timeline of events. I secured this with a paperclip and a soft pink velvet ribbon. I love tactile elements like this in mini albums!

The inside pages were decorated with all the tiny elements from These Days collection. I used a bunch of the tiny clear stickers and puffy stickers, especially the hearts. I also used several fussy cut butterflies throughout as well as a bunch of fussy cut florals from the A5 paper stack.

I left plenty of space for journaling to be added in later. Where I had more than one photo per page, I added a hinged paper flip. The fantastic thing about this album is the pocket cards are already so beautifully decorated, I only needed to add small details to enhance them.

I just love how this album turned out, and it was so simple and quick to make. I will definitely be making more of these in the future! You can see a flip through of the finished album and a tutorial of making the hinges in the video linked below. Happy scrapping!

Hello Sunshine | Hello Sunshine Collection | Laura Alberts

Hey y’all! Laura here again with a deep dive into my Cocoa Vanilla Studio stash for the oldest collection I own, Hello Sunshine! For this silly layout featuring selfies of my darling son and I being exceptionally silly, I decided to create a split-level layout design, with a simple photo display on the right and a grid layout on the left. By creating this split, I can use plenty of embellishments without overwhelming my photos.

Each of these 2×2 inch squares has a large embellishment, small embellishment and a dot of Nuvo in gold for accent. I then took my navy pen and outlined each of them in a messy faux-stitching style to reflect the stitched design on the denim-styled Chill Out pattern paper under my photos. The mix of patterns on the left side really add a pop to the overall layout and give those puffy stickers the time to shine!

By layering stickers and ephemera pieces together into clusters onto these squares, each piece of the grid feels unique, but the coordination of the colors helps them feel cohesive. The outline of each square really gives the appearance of depth on the left side of the layout, giving each a shadow that helps them pop off the page!

I was so excited by how this layout turned out, that I created a sketch based on it to share with all of you! I hope you enjoy using this sketch to inspire you to try a split-level layout too!

This life | These days Layout | Anna Komenda

Hello, hello. How are doing, everyone? I hope you are ready for another dose of “These days” inspiration! This week we are focusing on puffy stickers and puffy hearts to show you how you can incorporate them in your projects. I must tell you I struggles a while for what I should do. I didn’t have any photo on my mind, or specific design so I came back ot basics by using tried and true grid design. To make things a little bit different than usual, I used heart dies and created my grid using them.

I went even further and used the die to cut the photos too. You can’t do this with every photo as you loose a lot of background. I managed to find few pictures with my daughter standing a little far, so I only lost part of her hands but you can still see what was the main focus of the photo. All my hearts are cut out from “Good life” paper, with lovely and cute pattern. They look great on warm wooden texture from “Pretty posies” paper.

After I glued down all the hearts and photos, it was time to decorate everything. I reached for ephemera and flower packs. This such a fun and quick to use product. I love fussy cutting but it takes a precious time and with pre cut elements you can create much faster. I glued down flowers and other elements using 3D foam, adding dimension to my page. Each heart got it’s own mini composition.

When it comes to puffy stickers and hearts – I added one golden heart on each element on the grid. They add a little bit of blink and sparkle to my layout. I love using puffy stickers as they are great tiny accent and perfect for finishing touches. I especially love those mini hearts – I could have a whole sheet of them only in all colors of the rainbow.

Last step in making this page was to add a title. I wasn’t vey inventive here and I used Foam titles, that are part of “These days” collection. I needed someting short so I chose THIS LIFE phrase. It’s very generic and in this case it tell about idyllic childhood of my kids. They get a chance to spend time in the countryside, run bare foot, play in the big pile of sand, spend time with the farm animals, bath in puddles and be as dirty as they want.

Remote Learning Fun | These Days Collection | Melissa Vining

Hi everyone, it’s Melissa here and today I’m sharing a layout that I created with the stunning ‘These Days’ collection. My assignment brief was to focus on puffy hearts and puffy stickers.  As we’re currently in lockdown again here in New Zealand I decided to scrapbook some photos from our lockdown in 2020 showing three of the kids doing their online remote learning.

I knew that I wanted to use some of the frames from ‘Wall of Fame’ and I fussy cut three of them.  I cut out the centres of them and put my photos inside.

I was very keen to use the beautiful woodgrain of ‘Pretty Posies’ and tore pieces of ‘Home Grown’ and ‘Take Flight’.  Normally I would use Take Flight for fussy cutting, but I love having a large piece of it on my page.   I hand stitched in matching embroidery thread from my stash.

 

I used the ‘Mini Puffy Alphas’ for my title and the ‘Puffy Stickers’ for embellishing the frames, either side of my title and on the strings holding the frames.  The puffy stickers are so adorable!!

I used the ‘Puffy Hearts’ as feature embellishments on the strings holding frames, and I love how they add a touch of bling.

I added tails onto each frame with beautiful black and white leaves from the ‘Foral Ephemera’.  They were the perfect finishing touch.

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing my layout.  I don’t have a video this time as things have been very hectic in lockdown trying to balance work and parenting.

You and Me together | Josefine van der Hoeven | These Days collection

Hello creative paperlovers,
Welcome and so happy to see you at the Cocoa Vanilla blog today. It’s Josefine here and share with you a new layout that I made with this amazing collection ” These Days”

I really wanted to work with these super cute puffy stickers and the shimmering gold hearts. I thought it would be fun to make a wreath and used the golden hearts in the center of these paper flowers.

I first draw a circle with a pencil on my white cardstock background. Then I stamped several times with the Distress Oxide color “evergreen bough”
I use a background clear stamp and print several times. Until I have a green circle in the middle. I mix the Distress Oxide with water and with a water brush I splash several times.

It’s time to make a wreath and I used the flowers and leaves from the “Floral ephemera” set
I put everything in a circle and used the punch floral set from We R keeping memories to punch out the five flowers from the design paper. In the center of these paper flowers I paste a gold heart. These flowers look so cute.

I punch out some more leaves from the green colored designer paper and slide them between the homemade paper flowers. I decorate my wreath with butterflies, wooden buttons and of course the puffy stickers. I place several puffy stickers between the leaves. Everything together gives such a festive effect. Really I love it. I cut out the photo in a circle and also cut out design paper in the shape of a circle. I use my sewing machine and stitch the edges. Then I place the photo in the center of the wreath. Finally I splash some white acrylic paint and gold acrylic ink on my page. So happy how this layout turned out.

I had so much fun with this amazing new collection “These Days” by Cocoa vanilla Studio. I hope I was able to inspire you to use the golden hearts and puffy stickers on your layout. You are Magical | These Days | Michelle Stokes

Hey hey! It’s Michelle here today to share a new layout with you all using our newest collection These Days. Our focus over the next couple of days is to share creations featuring the sweet Puffy Stickers and Gold Glitter hearts, I’ve used both to sprinkle through all those pretty florals.

I just can’t help myself when it comes to all those florals, fussy cutting happens without even thinking about it. The Home Grown paper is certainly becoming my most used paper within this collection so far, along with the cut apart sheet in both sizes. The florals were what started this creation off by stretching from top to bottom on the left side of the layout.

I used a mix of adhesives to create layers of dimension. SO many pretty flowers

This massive floral cluster has tiny pockets of space to add cute tiny puffy hearts, sweet butterflies, a few word stickers from the Puffy Sticker sheet and a couple of the super sweet gold glitter hearts

I chose a couple of crazy fun photos of Leila from a couple years back, on a family outing to a local crepe cafe. This was the first time Leila was able to enjoy an entire adult sized crepe all to herself, although she didn’t quite finish it all. I backed the photos in patterns from the A5 paper stack and tucked in some extra bits from the cut apart paper (The Good Life paper) in both sizes.

Under the photo I added the title using a mix of foam title stickers, mini puffy alphabet and a touch of handwriting. I like the special touch the handwriting gives to a layout when I don’t add any journaling.

Over on the right side of the layout I added a strip of woodgrain (Pretty Posies paper) and a cluster of florals and puffy stickers to finish the layout off.

Lastly the finishing touch, a splattering of gold ink, all over the place.

Family Together | These Days | Kylie Kingham

Hello friends! It’s Kylie back with you all today with a layout I created recently featuring the new ‘These Days’ collection. I wanted to use a cut file background for my page and one that would almost fill the page. I selected this gorgeous Rainbow cut file which was designed by Paige Evans. I really love all the pastel tones in this collection and chose the ‘THE GOOD LIFE’ paper as my main background.

When backing the cut file, I worked with the A5 PAPER PACK. The size of the papers are great for this as you aren’t cutting into the larger 12 x 12 sheets and it saves the wastage. I cheated with backing the actual rainbow, as the pastel striped paper, ‘FAMILY TIES’, was perfect for adding in a solid piece rather than adding individual sections. For the clouds I also combined some white and gold glitter card stock from my crafty stash.

My photo was printed to a smaller 3″x 4″ size and adhered over the fully backed cut file. With so much colour to the background I really didn’t need to over embellish and have just added an appropriate title from the die cut pack.

To complete my page, I added a small cluster of flowers and a cute phrase from the die cut collections. Some of the flowers were adhered with foam tape so that they added some extra dimension to my page.

Our Sweet Little Family | These Days collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends,

It’s Tarrah back with you today to share a new scrapbook layout featuring the gorgeous NEW These Days collection. I have chosen to scrapbook a family photo of myself, my hubby and our 2 sons.

I decided to start by cutting out a title cut file design from CUT to YOU from white cardstock. I then was able to take different patterned papers from the A5 paper stack and backed the words with a different paper. I chose to only back two of the larger hearts with a pink A5 paper also. It takes a little time to back a cut file like this so I normally do this while watching a movie with the family.

Once the cut file was all backed, I adhered it down onto another sheet of white cardstock, trimming down the cardstock to back the entire layout onto the ‘B’ side of the Wall of Fame paper. Once adhered I then machine stitched a border around the edge, I love the added touch of texture this adds to my page.

The best place to add my photo was to the right of the title, I did have to cover some of the hearts in the cut file but I would rather that than cover the title. I layered one of the 3′ x 4′ journal cards underneath my photo and adhered the Together die-cut word from the ephemera pack right on top of the photo, this helped to disguise and cover an unattractive part of the photo. Next it was time for my favourite part – embellishing!! I added embellishments including die-cuts, puffy stickers, a wood epoxy bead, accessory stickers, a gold puffy heart and clear stickers.

Grateful Heart | These Days Collection | Rachel Lowe

Hello CVS friends! Today I am sharing my second layout using the oh so beautiful These Days collection. I love this photo of my eldest and youngest and this inspired my layout.

I cut a diagonal strip from the Take Flight paper (butterfly side) and added this over the Family Ties paper (green side). I chose two of the 3×4 inch pocket cards, both black so they would contrast against the colours, one to mat my photo and the other to create a page feature.

I next added florals from the Floral Ephemera Pack starting at the edge and working my way in. Some I added with foam tape and ensured they were positioned in a interesting way across the diagonal (do not to a straight row or it will look flat and uninteresting).

I used die cuts from the Ephemera Pack to embellish my pocket card. I added this gorgeous title with foam tape, I added the little boy from another die cut by fussy cutting and adding him to the mother and daughter die cut, this kept the theme of my photo.

I added extra butterflies from the Puffy Stickers sheet. I had to use the stunning black Foam Title Stickers which really stands out against the muted green and tomes down the multi coloured butterfly paper. I curved my chosen words for visual interest and finished off with a Gold Puffy Heart.

I always leave my layout overnight so I can look again with fresh eyes before I photograph it, this is when I usually add small details like adding the Wooden Epoxy Buttons, more leaves to the florals and so on.

I really enjoyed creating this layout and documenting this moment in time. I am loving seeing all your layouts on social media using These Days, it’s just one of those collections that is so easy to create with!

Grateful | These Days | Raquel Bowman

Hey everyone, it’s Raquel here today sharing a new layout featuring the new and amazing These Days collection. I was really inspired by the icons and elements in this collection and had a similar layout idea rolling around in my head since I received it. I had wanted to create a layout with a house design, and include the sentiment and quote “home is whenever I’m with you”.

 

Here is the layout I created:

 

The subject of this photo is hubby and I from our wedding back in 2011. The warm tones in the photo suited this colour palette beautifully. The main design of the page was a house cut file. To create this cut file I actually just found a house icon via google and traced that in my cutting machine software. This was a quick and easy way to customise my layout to suit the design I had in my mind.

The title ‘grateful’ was from the foam stickers. I love the bold and striking contrast the black has against the woodgrain paper and white of the cut file. The ‘together is the best place to be’ is from the accessory sticker sheet.

At the left and right sides of the house there was shrubbery style shape. I decided to use that as a base for embellishing and adding floral elements to the house – in a way to replicate garden beds out the front. I used a combination of the regular ephemera and the floral ephemera packs. I adhered these in a variety of depths. To finish this embellishment cluster below I added some puffy stickers, a clear sticker paint swipe and a ‘love you so much’ tiny word sticker.

The cluster to the left of the house was completed much the same using the same ephemera packs and puffy stickers. Again, using a variety of dimensions to adhere through the use of tapes and foam adhesives.

I wanted to add a smaller detail to the top left of the page so I tore the white background, and added a pop of the woodgrain under it to add another touch of that pattern. Machine stitching the edges of the layout helped to tie all this in together.

The ‘home is whenever I am with you’ is one of my favourite elements on this layout. I love that it mimics a photo frame and is the ideal and perfectly worded sub heading.

 

The whole house design was adhered to the page with a adhesive foam sheet. This gives enough shadow to create interest but also allows me to layer under and around it.
