Hey everyone, it’s Raquel here with you sharing my latest layout created for the ‘circles or squares’ theme on the blog this week. For today’s layout I decided to go for the not obvious choice of circles and went for the squares instead.
Here is the layout that I created:
The subject of my layout today is my little man. This year he has begun learning basketball one night after school. He is having a ball and I was excited to be able to document this for him.
The theme is ‘circles or squares’ so I decided to create a square grid design to document two small photos. To create the grid design I used multiple scraps I had in this collection and a square die from Sizzix. I love that I was able to create a visually appealing layout with minimal papers.
To embellish the page I used a variety of ephemera pieces – in stars mainly, making sure to find pieces that are a perfect to match this sport theme. I delved into my stash and also found old enamel dots for the layout.
The title for the layout was created using a combination of CVS collections. The banner was cut from one of the cut apart papers. So cute!
I did not journal in detail on this page today. However I did add some tiny word stickers from the accessory sheet and add the ‘what’ and ‘when’ detail in typewritten journaling.

Gwen back on the blog today with a new share featuring the ‘Happiness’ collection. On the blog this week, the design team have been playing along with the theme “circles or squares” and I’ve got to say, I really struggle with circle elements so I absolutely took the easy way out and created a page featuring squares. This photo is one I took of my daughter quite a few years ago while we were at a theme park and I’ve come up with a fun way to use up a bunch of pattern paper scraps on my layout within the Squares theme I’m working with.
To begin my page, I’ve started with a white Cardstock background from my stash and a cut file from CUT to YOU. I’ve then pulled out a bunch of pattern paper scraps in the collection and backed the squares in the design. You could also do something similar to this with a basic square punch. Backing the file went quite quickly actually because the square is a very simple shape to cut out. I didn’t think too hard about the colour placement of the pattern paper, I was just a little bit careful not to put two of the same colours side by side. I even left some of the squares in the design open for interest.
Next, I’ve positioned the backed cut file onto the centre of my background and added stitching around the edge. From there, I’ve backed my photo with the ‘Little Things‘ pattern paper, added some stitching and then mounted with 3D foam.
My daughter is positioned towards the right hand side of the photo so I want to position my photo towards the right hand side of my page, I like to have the subjects in my photos looking towards the centre of the page rather than off to the side of the page. It’s not a rule, just the way that I prefer to do it. I just find it easier for me to embellish when I do it this way.
I can now begin to work on my embellishment clusters. I’ve pulled elements from the ‘Die Cut Ephemera’ pack starting with the pretty floral elements and that sweet prize ribbon die cut. I’m going to create an embellishment cluster along the right hand side of my photo and then balance that out with a separate cluster in the top left hand corner of the page. As always, I’ll position the largest pieces first and then work towards the smaller elements.
I’ve also added in a couple of the cute tassels from the ‘Die Cut Ephemera’ pack and a couple of stickers from the ‘Accessory Sticker Sheet’. For the stickers, I often like to add them with 3D foam tape for dimension. It’s nice to have layers within your clusters and try to nestle everything in close together.
I’ve also pulled a flair button from the ‘Flair Buttons’ pack and added that to the top right hand corner of my page. The title for the layout has come from the ‘Die Cut Pack’ as well. To finish everything off I have fussy cut out a couple of the stunning butterflies from the ‘Bright and Beautiful’ pattern paper and added them onto my background.

Hey y’all! Laura here with a super sweet and silly 9×12 layout of my darling daughter when she was a toddler, playing happily in her water table. These photos were so bright and fun, I knew they would work beautifully with the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Sunkissedcollection! Using some punched and cut circles to create a vertical background design, I set my photos in a stair-step pattern so that I could fit all four of them on this smaller sized layout!
Around each of the photos, I added a cluster of embellishments. On the top photo, I used fussy cut florals, citrus fruits, and a “sweet memories” banner from the ephemera pack. On the second photo, I added a small scene with two palm trees and the sun, love this cluster around the title the most! It’s perfect for these sun-filled summer photos! In any awkward spaces, I added tiny florals to fill them in.
On the bottom two photos, I kept the embellishing minimal because I’d added a circle-cut journaling spot out of the pocket cards and tucked it in on top of a bold blue circle from the background. So, some tiny florals were all it needed to feel finished. As always, I dotted gold Nuvo drops around the page and then splattered with gold inks spray for the finishing touch! Loved playing with circles for this one!

Mandy here with you today to share a new layout using the gorgeous Sunkissed collection! This week on the blog our design team are creating projects featuring either circles or squares. I have to admit that usually I would be more comfortable creating with squares, so that’s what I initially planned to use for my project. But I decided to challenge myself to use circles instead, and I’m so glad I did because it was a lot of fun!
I documented a cute photo of my youngest daughter Eleanor at the pool when we were on holidays in January.
I started my layout off by trimming my white cardstock background down to 10 inches, and matting it on the Just Chillin patterned paper. I also added some machine stitching around the edge of the white cardstock to give the page some additional texture. I then went ahead cutting various size circles out of the Sunny Days, Feelin Fine, and Bright Side patterned papers. There are so many gorgeous colours in this collection, but for this layout I decided to keep my colour palette to the teal, pink and blue. For this reason, I chose to use the more subtle b-sides of the papers to allow me to feature those three particular colours. Once I’d cut out my circles, I arranged them on the page so that they flowed from the top to the bottom, with some overlapping.
To continue with the circle theme I decided to cut my photo into a circle as well (I don’t remember the last time I did this!). I matted it with the Feelin Fine patterned paper and added some craft foam underneath it to help it to really pop off the page! I embellished around the photo with some flowers from the Floral Ephemera pack, and then added my title around the top of the photo using one of the gorgeous Glitter Foam Title Stickers.
I adhered my typed journaling to the pink circle at the top of the page. I also added another Floral Ephemera piece to this cluster, as well as one of the fun Wood Epoxy Buttons. I love that the wood buttons add another circular element to the layout!
I created another point of interest on my layout to the right of my photo. I embellished these circles with a beautiful die cut rainbow, a label from the Accessory Sticker sheet, and another Wood Epoxy Button.
The final little cluster of embellishments is at the bottom of the page on the teal circle. Here I chose to add a blue flower from the Floral Ephemera pack, as well as a little die cut banner. You’ll notice that I kept my embellishing to the same colour combination that I chose for my patterned papers, focusing on the pinks, blues and teals in the collection.
Around my photo, I added three little flowers that I fussy cut out of the Growing Wild patterned paper. The visual triangle that this creates helps to direct the viewers eye towards the photo. To finish the layout off, I added a few little phrase stickers from the Accessory Stickers, and lastly I sprinkled around some Unforgettable enamel dots.

Hi Cocoa Vanilla fans! Danni here sharing an A4 double page layout using the gorgeous Sunkissed collection. This week we are playing with a ‘circles or squares’ theme, so I chose to document some photos of my husband and I out to dinner during our tropical holiday using circles.
I have been wanting to experiment with rolled paper for a while since I noticed this trend is making a comeback. I thought this could be a fun way to explore the shapes theme and do something a little fun! I used a mix of colours from the 12×12 patterned papers and the A5 paper stack to make a pile of little paper rolls.
I wanted to use circles on both pages, so I used my electronic die cutting machine to cut circles from Feelin’ Fine 12×12 patterned paper in various sizes, to use as a background. I backed this with white cardstock and added a sketchy outline to all the circles. For a little extra detail I splattered white acrylic ink randomly over the patterned paper background.
I used three of the cut out circle die cuts to mount my paper rolls, gluing them directly down with tacky glue. I varied the colours to give a pretty rainbow effect. I then used my scissors and a craft knife to trim the paper rolls and tidy the edges into neat circles.
I adhered the remaining die cut circles and the rolled paper circles over a white background, bordered with Fun in the Sun 12×12 patterned paper. This page got the same ink splatter treatment, this time using gold, yellow and pink distress oxide sprays.
I cut all my photos into circle shapes as well, layering them with the other circles on the pages. To continue with the theme, I added some epoxy wood buttons and the circular stickers from the accessory stickers to both layouts.
For embellishments I used a few of my remaining clear stickers on the white background, where they really pop. I added some cocktail die cut ephemera around the photo of my delicious margarita, then some floral ephemera clusters around the photos on the opposite page. Finally, I added a large title from the glitter foam titles and also used some of the glittery love hearts to sprinkle over the opposite page.
Sometimes I find a prompt like this so helpful to provide inspiration and ideas to experiment with when I am feeling uninspired. I love how this turned out! I hope you enjoyed reading about it, and you can also watch the video on the Cocoa Vanilla Studio YouTube channel below. Happy scrapping!
Hello everyone. Summer is my favorite season and I am always waiting impatiently for it to arrive. This year we have some delay in warm and sunny days but it’s almost here. Time to pull out hats, sun glasses and shorts. I was looking for all those hidden items and I found my daughter’s cute hat. We had a little fun trying it one by one and (of course) I snapped few photos. I scrapbooked them with amazing “Sunkissed” collection, full of colors and summer motiffs. My design is a perfect way to use up all the smaller paper scraps, tabs and tags.
I started with white 12*12 cardstock as a base and I used my ruler and pencil to mark a big square in the center. This will be the area filled with paper scraps. I wanted to add them looking like a roof tiles with upper ones overlapping the bottom row. I checked my papers for smaller leftover scraps and cut them in small rectangles. I was using mostly the ones from A5 paper stack. I also cut apart paper called “Fun in the sun” and picked some smaller elements for my composition.
I only applied glue on the top side of my rectangles, bending the bottom edge a little bit. I added pieces of foam tape under some of them for more dimensional look. My three photos are also added in the same way.
Title was created with word “summer” from golden foam title stickers and “ready” with alpha from my stash. I also added bits and pieces from ephemera pack like drink, orange slice or ice cream. I also included few stickers to the colorful mix. I wanted to use as manny patterns as possible so I even went through pocket cards and picked the ones with solid background.
As always, I added the smallest elements at the very end including few puffy stickers (I just used up my first sheet, send a new box!) and wooden buttons. They are so cute and they add amazing texture to the design. Few yellow splatters were the final step of making this project. It all went really fast and I finished the page in an hour.
Do you like my idea of using up smaller paper scraps? You can also make similar page with horizontal allignment of the “roof tiles”. That is all for today but I will be back once again in two weeks with another “Sunkissed” page.
Hello everyone!! It’s Melissa here and I’m so happy to be back sharing my latest layout created with the gorgeous Sunkissed Collection. And yes it’s another beach holiday layout for my Riverton album! I was inspired by the patterned paper called Good Vibrations, specially the B side that has all of the paint stripes in rainbow colours. I knew that I wanted to cut the stripes apart, and then paper piece them back together. I ended up unintentionally creating a sunburst!
The photo is myself with Ava in the background. I edited it to back and white so it wouldn’t compete with the business of my layout. To start with I cut all of the stripes off the white background, and then cut them evenly apart. I placed all of the stripes together in each of the respective colours, and then created a circle in the centre of my page. The way in which I placed the stripes is difficult to explain, but you can see my process in my video linked at the end of my post. I machine stitched the central circle in white thread, going around messily three times, but unfortunately I covered all of this with embellishments!
I curled the edges of each of the paper stripes, and then used small pop dots to provide dimension. At this point I wasn’t sure what to make of my layout, but the addition of ink splatters in matching colours definitely helped!
I placed my photo on craft foam to pop it up, and then added the Summer Days Accessory Sticker which became my title. I embellished around my photo and the sticker with Die Cut Ephemera, Floral Ephemera and two Wood Epoxy Buttons.
I ended up loving how this layout turned out!! The ink splatters and embellishments definitely helped to tie everything together!

Welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog with a new share!
It’s Josefine here and show you a new scrapbook layout that I made for Cocoa Vanilla Studio with the beautiful summer collection “SunKissed” I love these beautiful designs. Your layouts will look so summery.
I start with a white sheet of cardstock and grab two colors of Lindys flat powders. The colors I use are “t-bird turquoise” and “Summer lovin’Sun”
I mix the powders with water on my craft sheet and apply the colors with the packings technique and use a piece of plastic from packing material.
When I’m done with this technique I splashed some more with the powders on my mixed media background.
I cut some design paper to size and put it behind the photo. I placed the photo in the center of my layout. I cut out some flowers from the beautiful designer paper and slid them between and behind the photo with my cricut maker I cut flip flops from the design paper and place them between the flowers on me layout.
I grab the different summer die-cuts and make a selection of which ones I wanted to use on my layout. I carefully slide the die-cuts between the photo and the flowers.
Now It’s time to splatter some more with white acrylic paint . I stitch the edges of my layout with golden thread using my sewing machine. I am so happy how my layout turned out!

Hello everyone! It’s Kylie back with you today for another ‘Throwback Thursday’ feature on the blog. I love to go back through my paper stash and choose a past collection to create with and for todays layout I selected the forever beautiful ‘MIDNIGHT’ collection. I’ve always loved the navy and pink colour combinations to this range and swoon over the mason jar and floral die cuts. So much beauty!
I opted for a darker toned background with the BLOOM & GROW paper and have layered pieces of SOPHISTICATED and ALL THE THINGS papers to the top third of my page. The edges have all been distressed a little to feature a nice amount of texture.
The best part about rummaging around through your craft supplies, like I was when I found my ‘MIDNIGHT’ stash, is all the other cool stuff you find that you may of forgotten about….(who me??) Let’s chat about paper doilies. I love them. I love the interest they can add to a project and there are so many ways you can incorporate them into a project. I found some smaller sized doilies and have wrapped each side of my photo to show a small lacey edge overlapping. It provided a fab backdrop for the floral die cuts I layered over the top.
For balance, I also added another doily with more die cuts to the lower left corner of my page.
To complete my page I added a lovely oversized title from the chipboard die cut pack to below my photo. It really seemed to tie in the theme of my photo and page design nicely! I used some foam adhesive squares to raise the title a little and make it seem as though it was ‘floating’ above my page.

Hey Hey! It’s Michelle back here today with a new rainbow inspired layout share. I’ve been itching to make something with all the patterns and colours from the Sunkissed collection since it arrived, and even though theres similar layouts out there I just couldn’t myself. The papers practically stuck themselves down haha
I started by cutting and tearing pieces of almost all the patterns within the A5 paper stack, plus a couple from the 12×12 papers. Enough to create a bunch of strips in different sizes to layer together down the side of the page. I originally had them overlapping the edge of the right hand side from top to bottom, but then changed direction after I created the background on cardstock.
I made the Rainbow background using shimmer inks and plastic packing technique to create a watercolour effect, and then ended up covering most of it with the paper strips. Its always a shame to cover up something so pretty.
The photo I’ve documented is a family snap from a couple years back that I realise now as Im typing this I’ve already scrapped. Haha Does this happen to anyone else? You can see in the close up above that Ive sewn through a majority of the paper strips to add a little extra detail to the layout. I’ve also adhered some of the strips using foam tape to give them a little dimension. This made adding the photo a little tricky as it needed different depths of foam adhesive to fit over all the layers.
I backed the photo with the pretty rainbow splatter pattern paper that you can find in the A5 paper stack.
I created the title with the ‘Feelin’ Fine’ piece from the 12×12 cut apart paper – Fun in the Sun, plus one of the last remaining gold glitter title words I have left. I might have to add more of these packs to my collection as I just love them! Both title pieces worked perfectly in rainbow order, right where I needed them to be.
At the top left of the paper strips I created a pink cluster, in line with all the pink coloured strips. I’ve used a mix of florals, stickers, puffy stickers and bits from the cut apart papers
And then I replicated the cluster at the bottom within the blue hue section also. The florals I’ve used are from the Floral Ephemera pack, something I’ve not even touched as I was so floral fussy cutting crazy on previous layouts.
