“Rainy Days” May Monthly Challenge

Hi everyone! Can you believe we are in MAY already?! Time is certainly flying this year! To kick off the month of May, we have a gorgeous new challenge to share with you, which has been designed for us by Tarrah McLean.

Before we share it, here are some details about how our challenges work:

Each monthly challenge is revealed here on the blog as well as in our Facebook Community group. The challenge consists of a mood board that has been collated by a member of our design team and contains a variety of images. Simply use the images as inspiration for your project, then post a photo into the challenge album in our Facebook group. Your project can be a layout / set of cards or tags / traveller’s notebook spread / art journal page, etc – it’s entirely up to you. You do not have to use only Cocoa Vanilla Studio products, but they should be the main focus of your creation.

Here is Tarrah’s board entitled “Rainy Days”…

Oh how we love this mood board that is seemingly simultaneously bright and happy, but also dark and brooding. A perfect mood board to tackle when the weather turns and you are stuck inside on a rainy day with nothing to do but play with pretty papers! Besides those rainy day themed images featuring rain speckled windows, umbrellas, gumboots and puddles; you can dig a little deeper for inspiration and spot flowers, rainbows, hearts and even animals. You could even be inspired more broadly by the theme of water or just include the quote. It’s entirely up to you!

Here is Tarrah’s stunning sample layout…

Tarrah chose our new ‘Happy Days’ collection to work with for her interpretation, with the rainbow and raindrops pattern on the “Sunshine Lollipops” paper pairing beautifully with her photo of all those hanging umbrellas.

Tarrah also used the quote as the title for her page, which she created using the new Mini Puffy Alphabet Stickers.

Our favourite thing about Tarrah’s layout though? Those adorable little umbrella embellishments she created using folded paper! They tie in the theme of the page to her photo perfectly and add little pops of dimension to the design.

And now that you have been inspired by Tarrah, it’s your turn – we cannot wait to see how everyone interprets this mood board. Happy scrapping!
