Christmas album | Joyful Collection | Anna Komenda

Hello, hello! Welcome in New Year everyone! We are already half way through January but I am still playing with super cute “Joyful” line. It’s a christmas collection from 2021 but it stole my heart completely and when I pulled it out to make few projects for December, it seems I can’t say “goodbye” to it. But I promise, my today’s project is the last one I am going to share with you made with this collection (for few months at least 🙂 ). I had so many pretty photos from the last Christmas Eve (this is the most celebrated day in Polish tradition), that making a single layout wasn’t enough for me. That’s why I decided to make a whole album for this event only and I made it from scratch.

I used a false golden leather for the cover, mixed with pattern paper called “Feeling festive“. I also stitched in few colorful buttons imitating ornaments. Everything is wrapped with a piece of red string, that keeps the cover from opening by itself. The front is decorated with few paper stars fussy cut from one of the papers from A5 Paper Stack, few elements from Ephemera Pack and a super cute deer from Chipboard Stickers set.

Inside the album there are five pages, made with kraft cardstock. I think this natural paper fits the “Joyful” collection really well adding a bit rustic feel to the project. My first page has a flat that closes with magnets. The front of it is decorated with shaker and pictures are hidden inside.

I chose the size of the album to acommodate vertical 4*6 photo so it’s about 13*18 cm big and 5 cm thick. This is why I love making my own album bases – they fit your needs perfectly! After adding photos to the page, I decorated them with ephemera pieces, chipboard stickers, puffy stickers and Accessory Stickers. This is my favorite part of making an album process!

Some pages of my album are just a simple layout with photos and embellishments and some have extra flaps to acommodate more photos. My usual way of making album is picking the photos I want to add to particular page and then thinking how I should do it. Knowing I need to find space for 4 photos, I add flaps or pockets taylored for the exact number and size of pictures. I find it the fastest and most convinient way of creating album pages.

I do not mind when my photos overlap. I just have to be sure there nothing important hidden in this process (like face of a person or detail that matters). It helps you squeeze in bigger photos on the smaller space!

You can also be creative not only in adding flaps and pockets but also with the way they open or with the shape they have! Last page in my album has a flap that immitates the side of the christmas tree! To make sure it won’t open by itself while browsing through the album I use strong magnets hidden under the paper.

That is all for today! Thank you so much for spending this time with me and scrolling all the way down through all those pictures. I hope you like my album and it inspires you to make your own handmade albums! YouTube is full of great tutorials on how to do it!

See you in two weeks!
