Hello everyone! It’s time to share our brand new challenge with you. This month we asked design team member Mandy Melville to create our mood board for us, and she has put together a gorgeous board that is sure to inspire you.

Before we share it, here are some details about how our challenges work:

Each challenge starts and ends on the last day of the month. They are revealed here on the blog as well as in our Facebook Community group. The challenge consists of a mood board that has been collated by a member of our design team and contains a variety of images. Simply use the images as inspiration for your project, then post a photo into the challenge album in our Facebook group. Your project can be a layout / set of cards or tags / traveller’s notebook spread / art journal page, etc – it’s entirely up to you. You do not have to use only Cocoa Vanilla Studio products, but they should be the main focus of your creation.

Here is Mandy’s board, entitled “Peachy Keen”…

As you can see from Mandy’s board, she has chosen a gorgeous muted colour palette featuring greens, grey, mustard, and of course the signature colour that has given the board it’s name, peach. If you look closely, you can also spot pops of pale pink and gold as well. You could use any (or all) of these colours for your project, or you may choose to be inspired by something else. There are several shapes and patterns including circles, raindrops, vertical stripes, or even the rainbow. Or you might be drawn to the flowers or mother themed quote at the centre. Go where your inspiration leads you!

Here is Mandy’s sample layout…

With Mother’s Day being celebrated during May, Mandy chose the motherhood quote from the board as the theme for her layout. She documented a beautiful black and white photo of her with her children that was taken on Mother’s Day a few years ago using our ‘These Days’ collection. The colours of this range were a perfect choice to match the colour palette from the board.

Mandy was also inspired by the circles on the board, and used a large circle at the centre of her page design layered with horizontal strips to anchor it. She also tied in the circular theme further by using a spotted patterned paper as her page background.

Mandy was also inspired by the flowers from the board, so she chose them as the basis for her embellishment clusters on either side of her photo. These were topped with wood buttons that repeated her circular theme.

And now that you have been inspired, it’s over to you. We can’t wait to see what you create for this board. Happy scrapping!
