Hello Hello! It’s Michelle back here today with a new layout to share with you all. One that has been inspired by our gorgeous Monthly Challenge Board designed by Sophie. A board that gives of soft wintery vibes and had be thinking about a Christmas themed layout using the Joyful Collection.
I’ve documented a happy snap from Christmas Day of Leila, Myself, My nephew and niece and my partner Clinton. I love love LOVE the magic of Christmas and am usually to busy soaking it all in that I forget to take photos. Thankfully my Sister in law had decided this was the year we were all going to ensure we took the photos!
I love how the layout turned out, taking inspiration from the board below, using elements of woodgrains, soft greens, glittery snow and a pop of red from the boots (top right of board)
I adhered the woodgrain pattern paper from the These Days collection to the top 5 inches of the white cardstock background and added a strip of the darker green pattern paper Making Spirits Bright underneath.
Next up I chose a cut file design from CUT to YOU that is a border style design full of pretty leaves and flowers. I cut this out twice so that I could layer up some areas of the file where I wasn’t adding embellishments over top. The pattern paper I chose for this was Deck the Halls
After I adhered the cut file in place I secured a long piece of red pom pom trim from my stash along the edge of the woodgrain paper using machine stitching. I cut the pom poms off from under the photo so that it would sit flat amongst all the layers. I kept the photo stack very simple using a couple layers of plain vellum and some stickers tucked in top and bottom.
I added the title of the layout in the space to the right of the photo using a cut apart piece from the Very Merry paper and some sweet gold puffy title stickers, then I added a bunch of fussy cut florals in colours similar to those on the dress in the Challenge Board.
To make it a little more Christmas like I added stockings, holly and flag ephemera pieces at either end of the cut file border, plus scattered a few ephemera and gold puffy star stickers throughout the layers.
Lastly I gave the entire border piece a sprinkling of iridescent glitter from my stash as I felt it gave it a glittery snow kind of feel when looking at the layout from different angles. Oh and I added the usual gold ink splattering to finish it all off.
Well friends, thats all from me today. Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing my take on this months challenge board.
