Look on the Bright Side | Sunkissed Collection | Mandy Melville
Hello everyone!
Mandy here and today I’m sharing a new layout featuring the gorgeous Sunkissed collection! My assignment for this project was to feature cut apart papers. I love that the Cocoa Vanilla Studio collections always include papers that can be cut apart to use for pocket page scrapbooking and/or as embellishments on a layout. It’s a great way to get more bang for your buck when you purchase a collection!
I decided on documenting a beautiful, happy photo of my youngest daughter Ella, and I knew that the bright and vibrant colours in the Sunkissed collection would be perfect for this photo! It was fun to incorporate lots of pieces from the Sunkissed cut apart papers onto my layout!
I started this layout off by using a template to create a beautiful sunburst design on the background. I used the following patterned papers from the collection to create the sunburst… Sunny Days (reverse side), Just Chillin (reverse side), Summer Lights, Fun in the Sun (reverse side), Feelin Fine (reverse side), and Bright Side (reverse side). I LOVE how bright and colourful it looks with all those gorgeous patterned papers! Once I’d finished adhering all of the pieces into place, I added machine stitching along the edge of each one to give it some more texture.
I wanted to add a mat underneath my photo to help it to stand out from the busy background and to provide a clean area to add some embellishing. I used one of the papers from the A5 Paper Stack for this, which I cut down to a 5 3/4 inch square. I adhered the square mat using craft foam to again help the photo area to really pop. Next I matted my photo with the Just Chillin woodgrain paper, and adhered it to the middle of the square.
I started my embellishing by creating a cluster on the bottom left hand corner of the photo. I fussy cut a rainbow out of the A5 cut apart paper, as well as some flowers from the Growing Wild patterned paper. I finished the cluster off with a die cut banner from the Ephemera pack, as well as a cute Wood Epoxy Button.
Next I added my title and another embellishment cluster on the top right hand corner of the photo. Again I used lots of fussy cut embellishments. For my title I used the ‘Look on the Bright Side’ piece from the A5 Cut Apart paper. I also fussy cut another flower from the Growing Wild patterned paper, as well as a little banner piece from the Fun in the Sun cut apart paper. Like with the first cluster, I finished this one off with another Wood Epoxy Button.
I created a third and final cluster in the top right hand corner of the page. You’ll notice that all of my embellishments are positioned along the diagonal line from the bottom left hand corner of the page to the top right. This helps to draw the viewers eye to the photo and then through the other elements on the layout. This last cluster includes two more pieces that I cut out of the Fun in the Sun cut apart paper, and another fussy cut flower. I also tucked a Die Cut sun into the cluster to finish it off.
As the final finishing touches on the layout, I added a few gold glitter hearts from the Glitter Foam Title Stickers pack, as well as a couple of die cut clouds.
Thanks so much for joining me here on the blog today. I hope that you enjoyed taking a look at how I incorporated cut apart papers as embellishments on my layout!
