Hi everyone! Can you believe that we are midway through 2022 already?! Being the last day of the month, we have a brand new challenge to share with you today. This one has been designed by DT member Sue Plumb, and we are sure you will find something to inspire you.

Before we share it, here are some details about how our challenges work:

Each challenge starts and ends on the last day of the month. They are revealed here on the blog as well as in our Facebook Community group. The challenge consists of a mood board that has been collated by a member of our design team and contains a variety of images. Simply use the images as inspiration for your project, then post a photo into the challenge album in our Facebook group. Your project can be a layout / set of cards or tags / traveller’s notebook spread / art journal page, etc – it’s entirely up to you. You do not have to use only Cocoa Vanilla Studio products, but they should be the main focus of your creation.

Here is Sue’s “Creative & Cosy” mood board…

As you can see from the mood board above, this month’s challenge is has a real warm and cosy feel to it. This is perfect for all our friends in the southern hemisphere, who are in the middle of winter right now. For those who are not, there are plenty of other elements on the board you can use to inspire you. You might like to use the colour palette which features plenty of neutral tones combined with a variety of blues, a hint of green, and pops of red. There are also a mix of patterns including squares, circles, and a spiral; and textures such as brick, wool and book paper. You might be inspired by the embroidered jacket to sew on your layout, or by the typewriter to add some typed journalling. There are so many choices!

Here is Sue’s sample layout…

Sue used our brand new ‘Storyteller’ collection for her sweet family themed layout. The colours of the collection were perfect for the board with the various shades of blue and pops of red used as highlights.

Besides the colours, Sue says she was also inspired by the image of the typewriter to include some stamping on her mixed media background using a jumbled text stamp. She also included a white paper doily amongst her paper layers, in reference to the same image.

Sue was also inspired by the florals on both the jacket and the cushions to create a cascade of flowers down her page using a mix of ephemera pieces. Her final inspiration was the image of the heart created by the folded book pages, so she added a handful of hearts from the Die Cut Titles pack.

And now that you have been inspired, it’s over to you – we cannot wait to see how this fabulous mood board inspires you all. Happy scrapping!
