Hi everyone! What an awesome weekend of fun, friendship and inspiration our International Scrapbook Day celebration weekend turned out to be. You may have seen that we shared all the challenge winner layouts on here a few days ago, so we thought this time we would turn the spotlight on some of the layouts our design team created for the weekend.
First up, for Anita’s mood board challenge, was this stunning layout – “Happy Little Moments” that was created by Anita as her challenge sample.
We are totally crushing on the gorgeous colour palette she used and those beautiful cut file flowers that she designed herself for Neat n Crafty Cutz. Anita also generously offered these as a free download, which you can grab for yourself HERE
Here’s a closer look at some of the details from Anita’s layout…
Anita also created a process video for her page, which you can watch on our YouTube channel here:
Continuing on with some inspiration for the same mood board challenge was Danni, who created this adorable layout “You Are Lovely” via a LIVE scrap that was held in the group.
It was so awesome to watch Danni work her magic with watercolours and see this layout unfold right before our eyes. If you missed all the action of Danni’s livestream and would like to see her put this page together, you can view the video in the INSD Celebration group HERE
Here’s a closer look at Danni’s gorgeous watercolour work combined with die cut blooms from our ‘Happiness’ collection. *swoon*
Next up on our challenge agenda, was Raquel’s Scraplift the DT challenge, with Raquel sharing a fabulous layout she created using a page by Kylie as her inspiration.
Here is Raquel’s “Memories” layout, featuring our ‘Unforgettable’ collection…
And here is the layout by Kylie that Raquel used as her inspiration…
You can see how Raquel took some of the main components of Kylie’s page structure and then used them as the building blocks for her own interpretation. So many beautiful layers!
And last but not least, Kylie also created a layout for Raquel’s scraplift challenge. This time, she turned the tables on Raquel and used one of Raquel’s layouts to inspire her own.
Here is the layout that Kylie created, “Sweet Memories”…
Kylie said about her layout “for my interpretation I used the Midnight collection. I really loved the heart overlay in Raquel’s layout and that is probably what inspired me to create my page similar.”
Here is Raquel’s original layout using our ‘Happiness’ collection…
Kylie also created a process video for her stunning page, so you can watch her put it all together on our YouTube channel here:
And there you have it – lots of INSD challenge inspiration from our design team with more to come! See you tomorrow with the next installment.

Hello Friends. It’s Anna here with my newest layout. This week we are focusing on die cut titles – awesome product for all the layout makers. You can find them in few recent collections such as “Legendary“, “Happiness” and “Midnight“. Other collections have words too, made as a foam stickers or chipboards. You can easily mix and match them on your page. Sets are perfect for title building and you can combine few words in longer phrases. I decided to use “Midnight” collection as I still have a lot of elements form it. I created five rows of words on my background making meaningful clusters that describe my photos.
I started my project with “All the things” pattern paper and arranged words in an order. It’s a really simple layout as I wanted die cut titles to shine. They are the main focus and they didn’t need much of embellishing.
I printed my photos in black and white version to better fit the overall mood of the page. Very deep navy color of the words looks almost like black and pink, monochromatic background is a good, neutral base for them.
I embellished areas around the pictures using leftover chipboard flowers but you can easily replace them with flowers from ephemera pack or the ones fussy cut from paper. I also added even more words in different size and font.
I finished my page by stitching through every row using white thread. I wasn’t planning doing that at first but the layout looked like it needed something more so I carefully step in with my sewing machine. It created extra layer of texture and I am happy I did it.
Last step was to add enamel dots. This collection didn’t have a matching set so I grabbed the ones from “Unforgettable” line.
Do you like die cut titles as much as I do? My fellow DT girls are sharing with you even more ideas on how to use them and how to build longer titles adding alpha letters or stamping. So many great and inspiring ideas!
Thank you for stopping by and see you next month. Can you believe it’s already half of the year with June just around the corner? Crazy times. Stay safe and healthy <3 XO Anna
Hello CVS friends, today I have a layout to share using a mix of the older collections, Wild at Heart, Midnight , Unforgettable and Make a Wish collections.Instead of my go to white cardstock I used the beautiful and subtle grey white washed wood grain paper Artisan. I wanted a real pop of colour so used the bright pink paper Hooray. I have used a large scallop hand punch to create a border each side of the Wild at Heart Vellum sheet which is 4 x12 inches. I added machine stitching to each side of the pink border strips.I added my photo off centre with foam tape and finished off with a bow from Unforgettable collection.I have not matted my photo knowing I was going to be adding layered flowers which would draw the eye to the photo.I have used two different cut files from the Silhouette Design store to create my layered flowers but for those who do not have a cutting machine use a hand punch, punching at least 3 and then layer with foam tape. If you want to recreate these centres, they are super easy! Cut a 12 inch strip at 1/2 an inch. fringe cut with a pair of scissors and then roll as you would any rolled flowers. Once the glue has dried then push outwards all the way around, then glue to the centre of your flowers. I have used Inky Depths paper from the Midnight collection to create my flowers. You will see that I then tucked in-between the flowers fussy cut butterflies, some die cut leaves and a sentiment from the accessory stickers.I then created my title using Happiness die cut titles. I added some more fussy cut butterflies around my title adding some Unforgettable enamel dots.I love using word and phrase sentiments from the Accessory Stickers sheets and you can see I added some more under my photo and under my large title. And there you have it, I love how this turned out! A great colour palette even though I have used several different collections. Don’t be put off because of the flowers on this layout, you can make. beautiful one’s too, time to blow the dust off those punches!

Hi friends,
It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new layout for our Mother’s Day theme we have going on this week on the blog! I decided to document a special photo of my beautiful Mum and myself on Sydney Harbour when we went to the ballet a year ago. I pulled out the gorgeous Midnight collection to help me document this special memory.
I found a really lovely cut file designed by fellow team member Gwen from Cut To You, I cut it out from white cardstock and then backed the hearts at the top of the cut file with the pink side of the Shine Bright paper the Special word in the cut file, I backed with the ‘B’ side of the Inky Depths paper, I love that small soft floral side. Once it was all backed, I placed craft foam underneath both the hearts and the ‘Special’ word.
I chose the ‘B’ side of the Mixed Blessing paper for my background and also matted that piece with another sheet of the Inky Depths paper. I machine stitched around the entire edge to add some texture and interest. I placed the cut file title in the centre of the page and I cut a strip of the Bloom and Grow paper and placed it underneath the bottom of the cut file before I adhered it all down. I matted my photo in the orange part of the Shine Bright paper and added craft foam underneath the photo and mat, it fit perfectly just above the word ‘Special’ with one of the hearts from the cut file overlapping onto the photo also.
I tucked in one of the cute die-cut frames from the die-cut ephemera pack into the top of my photo, I then took one of the paint strip clear stickers and added it to white cardstock, I then fussy cut it out and tucked it into the right side of my photo. I also added one of the cute flair buttons here. The jar and flower chipboard piece fit perfectly there just above the ‘You’ in the cut file, I love how this looks here. I also tucked in one of the floral die-cuts to the left of the jar to bring in some more of the florals to the page. I also added a few chipboard hearts and also a clear sticker heart too. Lastly I added some of the accessory word and phrase stickers and the date stamp to finish off!
Thank you so much for stopping by the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! I hope you have plenty of Mother’s Day memories you can document!
Happy Mother’s Day for Sunday, happy creating!

Hello friends and welcome back to another focus on stitching layout! I was so ready for the challenge of finding a way to include the texture of stitching and thread on my page because it is a technique I love to see on other’s work but not one I reach for very often and I have to say, I am pleased with the result.
Before I pulled out any embellishments or paper, I started by stitching a loose 3×3 grid. I’ve recently really been enjoying using more geometric and orderly designs on my page and they are a nice change from my more messy and loose layouts that I normally reach for. I used a light pink and a light blue thread to stitch semi straight lines to create my grid and left my threads on top to add a bit of messy factor to an otherwise not very messy layout. I am pleased to report that my sewing machine relatively cooperated and only made me curse existence once so I am calling that an improvement.
After I had my stitching finished and my bobbin threads neatly tucked away on the backside of my layout, I went to work on creating my base layer of embellishments. I printed my photo at 4 inches by 4 inches, which is a bit larger than I am used to using and set it in the middle of the page so I could build my clusters around it. Using the Midnight collection, I pulled out the die cut ephemera pack, the chipboard, the flair and the clear stickers and tried to mix all the textures in each section of my grid.
Once all of my smaller clusters were finished, I created a larger cluster around my photo of my husband and I and added my title underneath it using pieces from the chipboard pack. I love using the Midnight collection to scrapbook photos of my husband and I – the colors and sentiments in this line are perfect for photos like these. Finally, I cut and distressed the top and bottom edges of my page and added a strip of pattered paper for that Tazhi vibe and a bit of messiness.
That’s the page done! I hope you enjoyed this layout and it inspired you to pull out your sewing machine and to add some thread and texture to your own pages! Till next time, friends.
Hello Crafty Friends its Michelle back here today with another instalment of Throwback Thursday. For this creation I was given the task of using one of our more recent older collections, if you could call them that HAHA. I chose to create something with the Midnight collection as that is one that I haven’t touched for a little while. I focused on using the Large Die Cut without the backing sheet which you can find HERE in the store
I started the layout by removing the die cut from the backing sheet – its lightly adhered so that you can remove and create your own way. I used similar patterns and colours to what is already on the backing sheet along with some vellum and left the outer rim open. I then adhered it to the INSPIRED pattern paper using foam tape. I LOVE the mixed media effect this pattern paper gives a layout which is perfect for this ‘clean’ scrapper.
I layered a couple of frames from the ephemera pack with a piece of pattern paper to create a base for my photo, then added multiple ephemera pieces and stickers to create one large cluster under the title.
At the top left of the layout I added a some florals from the sticker and ephemera packs, a couple of enamel dots, heart and tab sticker.
I replicated similar items along the bottom right to create a diagonal effect on the layout.
Lastly a sprinkling of my favourite gold colour shine to finish it all off.
Thats all from me today. Short and sweet just like the process of creating this layout. I hope its inspired you in some way, and that you will share your creations with us in the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Community group on Facebook.
Thanks so much for stopping by and until next time, Happy Scrapping!

Hi everyone! Sue Plumb here to share my latest design team project with you. Today I am sharing a baby girl mini album I created using the super pretty ‘Midnight’ collection. (You may recall that I made one of these a few months ago for one of my sons using the ‘Boys Rule’ collection – you can see that post HERE) As it usually goes when you have more than one child, you can’t do something for one without doing it for another, hence I am back today with this album created for my daughter.
I began this mini album with an unbranded 6 ring pink planner I purchased from eBay. This planner came completely empty, and unlike the last planner I used (which was from Kmart), this one features a magnetic clasp to close it, rather than the elastic band. I also used an adjustable 6 hole punch (also purchased from eBay) that I set up to fit the rings in the planner.
I used pieces from most of the patterned papers from the collection, cutting a variety of sizes and shapes to use for the pages. I then punched each one with the hole punch, ensuring they were not all aligned the same so that they would sit at varying heights within the album. I also added some additional decorative detail to some of the pages using an assortment of border punches.
I created “tip-ins” for some of the pages using patterned paper adhered with washi tape. This allows you to extend on the amount of space you have on a page to add extra photos or journalling, or even hide journalling underneath, just like I did with my daughter’s birth story above.
Remember you don’t always need a photo on each page – it adds extra interest to an album to intersperse purely decorative pages, or pages that simply feature a sentiment throughout, such as the page featuring fussy cut flowers from the Bloom & Grow paper and a Die Cut Title word above.
Another way to help anchor photos into an album and ensure they appear as a cohesive part of the page design, rather than just stuck over the top, is to add embellishments that overlap part of the photos. Alternatively, don’t be afraid to use an entire photo as a page in itself and punch directly through the photo. (Matte photos tend to work better for this, rather than glossy.)
To continue to provide variety throughout the album, try turning some of the elements vertically on the page; or have a horizontal page opposite a vertical one. (It also adds an extra level of interactivity to have people rotate the album to look at them.)
A great way to include a series of photos is to print them as a photo strip and fold them accordion style with a tab sticker to pull it out with…
The photos fold out and then fold neatly back into the album, only taking up the same amount of space as one photo.
Create small pockets from scrap pieces of paper to hold journal tags. For a final interactive element, I uploaded a video taken during the drive home from the hospital with my daughter to my YouTube channel (set as private) and then created a QR code for it. This allows it to be scanned by a QR code reader on a phone that links to the video and plays it. (My children LOVE these!)
There is much more to this album than I could show here. If you would like a look at the entire album, I have a flip through below:
Thanks so much for stopping by today. Until next time, happy scrapping!
Hey Creative friends,
Gwen back on the blog today and I have a page I’ve been wanting to make for the longest time. I’m a big fan of scrapbooking the ‘everyday’ and the little things in my world AND, I’m pretty sure most of you with tweens or teens are going to relate to this one.
This photo was taken out at a restaurant for lunch, and yes, Miss 12 was sitting on her phone… it has become a little bit of a family joke, we like to tease her a little about it. She is always chatting with her friends or checking out Instagram, it’s a big part of her world right now and I really wanted to document it, because I know it won’t always be like that. Look at that concentration on her face, oh so serious!
Along with my photo, I also had the idea to use this cut file to help me tell the story. It is by CUT to YOU. I cut the phone element out really large and then a couple of the speech bubble elements. I’ve then gone about backing these. For the large phone piece, I couldn’t go past the beautiful ombre of the ‘Shine Bright‘ paper. For the speech bubbles, I’ve gone with the dark floral in the ‘Mixed Blessings‘ pattern paper and the floral from the ‘Inky Depths‘ pattern paper. The smaller print of these florals was perfect for this.
With my cut files backed, I went about the base design for the page. I’ve positioned the phone element down the left-hand side and the two speech bubbles coming out from it towards the right. I’ve mat my photo here with more of the ‘Shine Bright‘ pattern paper and stitched around the edge for added detail. You can see I’ve also used this paper for my outside edge border.
Now that my large elements are in place and the design for the layout has structure and a plan, I can now add in my smaller elements. This is the fun bit for me! I knew I wanted to add in a title for this page using the ‘Die Cut Titles‘. There are so many great titles in this pack but nothing was quite right for the space I had to work with or the moment I was trying to document, so… I got creative! I used the word ‘this’ and then the word ‘things’ but trimmed off the ‘s’ on the end, making my title ‘this thing’. **Design Tip – Don’t be afraid to cut or trim die-cut elements to make them unique and help them work on your page.
Now, it was just a matter of adding in some pretty elements. I pulled from the ‘Die Cut Ephemera‘ pack as well as a flair from the ‘Flair Buttons‘ pack. I’ve also used this sweet sticker with a heart on it from the Accessory Sticker sheet. The flower and bow are what I like to call ‘Vintage’ Cocoa, from the depths of my stash, so it was great to get them onto a page!
Thanks for popping by today to see my latest project, I hope it inspires you to get creating with this collection and maybe document a small part of your everyday! As always, be sure to pop into the Cocoa Vanilla Studio and CUT to YOU Facebook groups to share your pages, I love seeing what you make.
Until next time,
Gwen
