Welcome June and hello crafty friends. Today I have another layout created with only papers from the A5 paper pad. I have used Heart & Home collection to create this feminine layout of my daughter an I.
I cut 7 2 inch hexagons using three different designs of the papers from the A5 paper pad. Once I had arranged them in a pattern I liked I adhered to my page but added the top and bottom ones with foam tape to add dimension.
I next added my photos using two of the frames from the ephemera die cut pack. I added these with foam tape to add more dimension to my layout.
On the left side of my photo I added some phrase sentiments using the accessory stickers sheet and then some puffy hearts and circle centres to the flowers.
The photo to the right of my page I tucked a tag and small floral bloom behind it for visual interest.
I created a feature of the bottom hexagon by adding the house die cut and adding floral blooms under the house from the floral die cut pack, and puffy hearts and circles. I used a journalling block to the hexagon next to it and then finished off adding more phrase sentiments. I went back and added a floral bloom to the top left hexagon.
This is a simple layout to put together and using the A5 paper pad makes it super cost effective also!
Hi everyone, it’s Sue Plumb here to share another design team project with you. Today I am sharing a mixed media layout featuring the ‘Heart & Home’ collection. Inspired by this month’s “Flower Frenzy” challenge, I decided to document this family photo I took while we were out celebrating an early Mother’s Day lunch. (Family photos with all of us in them are rare, as I am usually the one behind the camera – I am sure many of you can relate!)
I began this layout with a sheet of white cardstock, which I cut down to measure 11×11″, and then backed with the sweet Leaf Litter paper to form a border. I then used pale pink Distress Oxide ink mixed with a little water to create a watercolour paint, which I brushed vertically onto the top half of the page using a wide brush. I then chose a yellow acrylic paint and applied it vertically to the bottom half of the page using a small brayer. This gave me a two-toned background that coordinated perfectly with the colours of the collection.
Now it was time for some paper! I chose a mix of patterned papers, including Fall Beauty, Harvest, and a couple of designs from the A5 Paper Stack to create layers in the central area of my page. I used a mix of both cut and torn edges for contrasting textures, and also added some frayed gauze and a paper doily. My photo was then mounted on top with a little cardboard behind it to help pop it up from the page.
I stuck a couple of stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet directly onto my photo, then turned my attention to the journalling. I cut a journal card from the Gathercut apart paper, then popped it into my typewriter. (I find the easiest way to do this is to use some washi tape to tack it to a larger piece of paper or card, so it doesn’t get lost in the roller.) I then tucked my journal card under the edge of photo and added a handmade heart embellishment on top.
Then it was time for some flowers! I used a combination of fussy cut pieces from the Bountiful paper, and others from the Floral Ephemera pack to build my clusters. I used my tried and true method of creating a visual triangle around my photo to help me decide placement which in this case was top left / centre right / middle bottom. You can see how this frames naturally around the focal point of my page (my photo). I layered the floral pieces, bending up the leaves to create dimension off the page.
I finished my page with a Gold Foil Title in the lower right corner; some stamped words and the date; and tiny gold ink splatters scattered around. Love how this one came together!
If you love flowers, then make sure you enter our May “Flower Frenzy” challenge which is hosted in our Facebook Cocoa Vanilla Studio Community group. You can enter as many times as you wish (providing each entry is created specifically for our challenge) and there is a $25 store voucher to be won. Looking forward to seeing your floral masterpieces!
Hey y’all! Laura Alberts here with a diagonal design using the stunning Heart & Home collection. I adored these frames and was excited to use them for my Thanksgiving photos with extended family. I started with a Bazzill navy cardstock and cut this lovely text patterned paper from corner to corner to layer on top.
Along the seam of the two papers, I stair-stepped my framed photos with the title ephemera in between to connect them. To fill the open corners, I added a combination of vellum and card stock ephemera flowers. Tiny, fussy cut flowers are sprinkled around the edges, along with Nuvo drops.
I added in a few bits from the cut-apart sheet and finished the layout off with these adorable puffy heart stickers and a sketchy border all the way around.

Hey y’all! Laura Alberts back again with a lovely layout using the Heart & Home collection to scrap these photos documenting my newest obsession, crochet! The colors in this collection worked beautifully with the yarn that I used in the very first project I made. This blanket is a bit of a mess, but I learned so much!
I used a simple shelf design for this layout with two 6 inch strips of wood grain patterned paper for each base. This was a great design for using up scraps and hiding the rough edges behind my photos. All of the layers made this simple background interesting and fun! In addition, I used the vellum flowers that I fussy cut from the Heart & Home specialty paper to create clusters behind my photos.
The details of these clusters really help my layout shine! I especially love the tiny florals that I scattered around my clusters and titles. These are all fussy cut from the stunning patterned papers in this collection. I also outlined each of the paper layers with a black gel pen to give them a hint of shadow for a 3D look!

Hi everyone, it’s Sue Plumb here to share another design team project with you. Today I am sharing a mixed media family themed layout I created using the beautiful ‘Heart & Home’ collection. I decided to document this photo of my hubby and kids from Father’s Day a few years ago and feature the blue / green tones of the range.
I decided to keep this layout relatively clean and simple, so began with a white cardstock base and some mixed media. I first added some stencilling using a Distress Oxide and script stencil; then some light stamping over the top using a ledger stamp and grey ink. These three points formed my “visual triangle” to help define my placement for my photo.
I chose a mix of patterned papers to use for my page that included the B sides of the Bountiful, Harvest and Framed papers. I added torn pieces of the green and wood grain patterns along the bottom edge of my page, using my fingertip to ruffle the edges for extra texture. I then mirrored the same paper pieces on a smaller scale along the top edge of my page. The mixed media on the background helps to connect these pieces to the main area of the layout.
For the focal area of my design I used a mix of all three patterned papers and tucked a grey paper doily into the layers. I also added some frayed gauze for texture before mounting my photo on top, and then began adding my embellishments. I started with the sweet little heart banner in the corner of the photo from the Accessory Sticker sheet. I love adding embellishments directly onto my photos, as not only can you use this trick to cover unsightly things in the background or fill negative space, but I find it also helps to connect the photo to the rest of the elements on the page.
I wanted to build floral clusters on this page, so I rifled through the Floral Ephemera pack and pulled out pieces that worked with my colour scheme. Then it was simply a matter of shuffling the pieces around until I was happy with the arrangement. I made sure to tuck the pieces over and under each other, as well as other elements on the page, to help create depth. I also bent the edges up or used foam tape to add dimension to some of them. To the left of my photo I added a handmade felt arrow from my stash.
I chose the word together from the Gold Foil Titles pack as my page title, and then a few phrases from the Accessory Sticker sheet for some additional text. (I always try to ensure a balance between images / text and other elements on my page – it makes it more interesting for the viewer to have a mix of things to look at.) I finished off with some scattered dots and hearts from the Puffy Stickers pack and some tiny black ink splatters.
Thanks so much for joining me today, I hope I have inspired you. Why not pull out some of those stencils or stamps from your own stash to add some subtle mixed media to your next project? Remember – you don’t need to cover the whole page and sometimes a little can go a long way!
Hey Everyone, it’s Michelle back here today. I hope that you’ve all had a super fun, relaxing and loving time over the past few weeks and are ready to get back into crafting, just like I am. Todays crafty share is a super quick way to pretty up a printed gift voucher, ready for passing on to loved ones for any occasion. I’ve made a few in the last couple of years as I like adding a personal touch to our gifts, with this one made from the Heart&Homecollection.
I started by printing the voucher on some A4 paper, then trimmed it down to fit onto a 12x9inch piece of pattern paper. For this I chose the rainbow stripe paper (HARVEST) as it gave a festive feel. I adhered the voucher lightly to the pattern paper and added machine stitching to keep it in place. This meant that the voucher can be torn off the backing paper when its needed.
I folded the pieces together to create an ‘envelope’ and wrapped a second smaller piece of pattern paper (GOLDEN FIELDS) around this to hold it all closed. This smaller piece was perfect to layer up embellishments to make it look pretty.
I wrapped some plain twine around once and attached some Christmas tags that I had on the table from wrapping presents, and combined these with a large floral piece cut from the BOUNTIFUL paper, a sticker from the Accessory sticker sheet, mini alphas from many many years back and a sweet little puffy green heart.
Here’s a closer look
And that my friends, is how you make a boring printed voucher look a little less boring lol
It was a very well received gift, and I can’t wait to hear what the venue says to the recipients about this one.
Thanks so much for stopping by for my short and sweet creation today. Be sure to keep an eye on the blog over the following weeks for all kinds of NEW inspiration with our brand new Collection – GreatEscape. I know I cant wait to dive into the box and create something magical.
My layout, using the beautiful Heart & Home collection is about documenting some goals for 2024 (I will add some handwriting to the journal card).
I found this book cut file in the Silhouette Design store and cut it in black for impact. I cut the white cardstock down to 9 inches square and added to the beautiful BountifulPaper. I added black machine stitching to add definition between the floral and white papers. I next added splatters of black paint to the white cardstock to break up the white.
I used the puffy alpha stickers to create my title which I added to the book pages. I used Golden Fields paper to create my layered butterflies. I used foam tape to layer them and used the puffy stickers to add hearts to them. I arranged them so they appear to be flying off the page.
I created a small embellishment cluster at the top left of my page using the die cut ephemera.
I matted my photo on a paper piece from the A5 paper pad and machine stitched a border in black. I added to my page with foam tape and before securing I tucked to the left the journal card ‘the story’ from the die cut ephemera pack. Lastly I added a floral bunch using the flowers from the floral die cut ephemera at the top of my photo and journal card. My photo size is 3×4 inches but you could certainly add a larger photo. I used thee puffy sticker dots for the centre of these flowers.
I created another small embellishment cluster to the bottom right of my photo to balance my layout.
You could add more photos and more journalling using the puffy alpha stickers. You could also paper piece the book if you wanted to add another colour to the layout.
As always thank you for stopping by and happy 2024 to you all!
Hey Crafty friends, its Michelle here today with a look back at my favourite layouts created for Cocoa Vanilla Studio this past year. I think in total I’ve made 30+ creations using the wonderful collections of CVS this year, so it was a little tricky to narrow it down to just a few favourites, but here we go..
Lets begin with this magical village creation from March using TheseDaysCollection
I loved creating the rows of houses to build a village. All fussy cut from the Neighbourhood paper. SO much fun!
Next up was this beauty, created back in February using the SunkissedCollection and inspired by that months Mood Board Challenge. The bright colours of this collection are still by far my most favourite of all time.
Another rainbow assortment of patterns and colour created in June using the HappyDaysCollection. Love me some colour blocking (if thats what you call it) on a layout. Love how this all came together in one magical colour explosion
Lastly one of my more recent layouts in November using the Heart & HomeCollection and our sweet fur babies. Another rainbow assortment of patterns and colour, but a little less in your face. The perfect mix of pattern and florals with a mixed font title to finish it off.
Well friends thats all from me today. I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing my favourites from the past year, let me know in the comments which one was your fave from the many I’ve shared with you all.
Until next time, Have a safe and fun end to the festive season, and Best Wishes to you for an even happier New Year. Thanks for all the love throughout the years, can’t wait to see what collections we get to play with next year!
Hello Friends. We are only three days until New Year so it’s a perfect time for all the summaries of year 2023. That’s why I want to invite you for a short journey through my favourite layouts from 2023 that I made with wonderful CVS collections. I picked four of them – pages I had the most pleasure making. Let’s dive into them!
This page was made with “Daydream” collection mostly. I focused on pattern paper, filled with flowers and went crazy with fussy cutting. Next step was to arrange a big bouquet using all those florals and butterflies. It’s a perfect recipe for using up the leftovers of any CVS collection.
You know I like adding some mixed media to my projects and here I played with vividly colored watercolor brushes. Scrapbooking memory from our trip to Barcelona using bits and pieces from “Sunkissed” collection was a pure joy.
After the summer, there comes fall and another mixed media layout. This time I reached for newest “Heart & Home” collection and wonderful, warm color palette. Die cutting bunch of leaves from pattern papers is always a good idea! It’s a perfect way to use up scraps or smaller paper pads.
Last layout I wanted to share with you is also made with “Heart & Home” collection and it documents one of our family trips. I reached for one of my all time favourites – wooden pattern as a background of the page. Little doodled frames were a perfect match with my photos.
I can’t wait to see what Zoe prepared for upcoming year 2024. Whatever it will be, I am sure it will look amazing as always. I know you are waiting for new line as impatiently as I am!
Thank you so much for spending your time with me and see in 2024! Sending you lots of grean New Year’s wishes!
Firstly I wish you all a Happy Christmas and a New Year. This year went in a blink of an eye!
I went back through the layouts I have made and have chosen four of my favs I created using all things Cocoa Vanilla Studio!
Heart and Home collection to me was all about Autumn days and family. This layout features my fav photos of my youngest boy and I. As you know I love adding cut files to my layouts and here I used two so add texture and layers.
These Days collection is such a pretty collection and can be used for so many themes. It’s not often that I do mixed media but as here I used several patterned papers I needed to add white and so it wasn’t so stark I add a blue paint wish to it.
Happy Days collection is bright and beautiful. I loved the many colours of the collection. This is a very ‘busy’ layout for me but I love how it came together and everything about this layout says ‘HAPPY’.
This was a throw back Thursday layout I created this year and having three sons I just can’t go by a fab boy collection and No Limits is that. How awesome is this pie graph cut file! I cut two at different sizes and then layered, love the effect of the light against the dark paper.
Thank you for all your love on social media and also sharing your wonderful layouts!
