Hello there, friends! Missy here, and I have a bright and sunny layout to share with you today. Although I’ve never been to Australia, I know it’s blazing hot there. It’s not super hot here in Florida, but it sure isn’t anywhere close to Winter. I love living in the Sunshine State because it’s almost always Summer time! I love scrapping sunny photos, so I couldn’t wait to use the beautiful Hello Sunshine collection. I named my layout the same name…it was too perfect not to 🙂 I used the Full Bloom paper for my background because it reminded me of a sandy boardwalk. And in my photo, we had just walked on one to get to this little tiki hut bar on the beach in Aruba. I used a big chunk of the Solar Flare paper because of those sun rays. I wanted them shooting out from behind the photo. I added some blue acrylic paint and watercolor behind it to create the illusion of water.
I used one of the Cocoa Vanilla floral cut files here as a layering piece and then added some fussy cut flowers and leaves. Those flowers are on the Full Bloom sheet. I added some blue tangled thread in here as well for some added color and texture. I added one of the cute Woodies to the center of the big pink flower that I overlapped onto the edge of the photo. For my title, I fussy cut the “sun” and “shine” from the Summer Hits paper and added some of the Puffy Stickers to complete it.
Here you can also see that I did some machine stitching with metallic gold thread. I love how it really makes the sun rays pop and adds a touch of shine. I love the contrast of the yellow rays and blue watercolor…it really does look like the sun and the beach!
To add some interest at the top of the layout, I added some of the die cut clouds from the Die Cut Ephemera Pack. I added some foam adhesive under them and some tangled blue thread. There are so many cute pieces in this die cut pack!
For the bottom of the layout, I fussy cut some of the phrases from the Happy Days paper. There were so many I wanted to use, but I settled on these four. I machine stitched through them all with blue thread and then added another little cluster of fussy cut flowers under it. Here you can also see more of the larger fussy cut flowers, thread and another Woodie on the right side of the photo.
This was a blast to make! Here’s my process video if you’d like to see how I put this layout together from start to finish.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a fabulous day!
