Happy Monday, friends! Missy here, and I have a fun Summer layout to share today. I used the gorgeous Make a Wish collection and one of the NEW Summer cut files available in the Cocoa Vanilla Store. (You can download them from the store HERE) I enlarged the word “Summer” and stretched it to span across the entire page. I cut it on the Fresh Cut paper, and it turned out so pretty! I decided to hand stitch around it using an aqua thread. I used some white cardstock as my background and used some pink and yellow golden Shimmerz Paints to create those watercolor splashes. I didn’t use any blues on the background since the photo was full of blue. I like how it contrasts with the pinks and yellows on the background. I also did a bit of fussy cutting from patterned paper as well.
To complete my title, I fussy cut “HAPPY” from the Loot Bag paper and stitched it down above the photo. Since I had some open space on both sides of the picture, I added some fussy cut flowers on top. Again, I love the contrast against the blue water in the photo.
I created a small cluster at the bottom using a few Ephemera Die Cuts, a Chipboard Accent Sticker and a few Accessory Stickers. I machine stitched through them and then added a bit of journaling underneath.
Although hand stitching takes some extra time, I think the end result is always worth it. I love how it adds extra color & texture. It also makes the title crisp and allows it to stand out against the background.
Here’s another angle of the stitched title. I love how it looks on this floral paper!
Here are a cluster of die cut flowers and fussy cut flowers. These types of embellishments are always fun to layer in and around photos.
Here’s one last close-up. I really wish I had a never-ending supply of these flowers 🙂
I hope this inspires you to create a fun Summer layout! And challenge yourself to use a collection that isn’t even geared for Summer…it’s something fun to try 🙂 Be sure to check out my process video if you’d like to watch how I created this from start to finish.
Thanks so much for stopping in today, and have a great day!
