HAPPY YOU | HELLO LOVELY | GWEN WRUCK

Hi Creative friends,

Gwen here today to share another layout, this one featuring the beautiful Hello Lovely collection and a joyful picture of Miss 10 inside a Butterfly house on a recent family holiday.  I was drawn to this collection for its beautiful flower and butterfly icons, both the perfect fit for my photo.

I began this page at a crop with a friend and as I started working, I really wasn’t feeling like the page was working.  I don’t often scrap away from home and I think I had left my mojo behind!  So, instead of pushing paper around the page for hours, I thought, why not spend the time chatting and adding some hand stitching to the delicate background paper?

I began by cutting out the floral/star design on the B side of the Delightful paper.  I then poked holes around the outer edge and then all intersecting lines and stitched away.  Yep, it took a while, but I am so in love with how it turned out.

Next, it was time to mat my photo, I was able to squeeze a photo mat out of the remaining piece of this paper and for softness added a layer of vellum from my stash.  I have kept the photo mat layers to a minimum as I didn’t want to cover up or distract from all that hand stitching I had just spent hours doing!

To create my floral embellishment clusters, I’ve taken the Glimmer paper and fussy cut out the florals from the B side, I’ve chosen the smaller ones in the design and teamed them with elements from the Die cut Ephemera pack and Accessory Stickers sheet.

I’ve also combined a few things from other collections, like the Free Spirit Woodies and Love Always Wood Veneer, Bits and Pieces and Enamel Dots – sparkles.  I just love how everything works so well together, even if they are different collections.  This is a great way to use up bits and pieces.

I’ve worked around my photo creating a larger cluster on the left and a smaller one on the right, layering as I went being sure to pop up some elements on foam tape for dimension.

I love the mix of textures too, from the flat stickers to the wood elements to the metal butterflies, they all add interest to the design.

I’ve added my title at the bottom of the page and to coordinate with the wood elements in the clusters, I have used more wood veneer.  These are a mixture of collections with the word “Happy” coming from the Love Always collection and the “you” coming from the Wood Veneer Words from the Colour Me Happy collection.

I am really happy with how it turned out especially considering I didn’t think this one was working at the start! Proof, you can make things work if you go with the flow a little and stay flexible in your design process.

My Heart is Full | Love Always | Sue Plumb

By | 2017-07-07T00:47:14+00:00 July 7th, 2017|Design Team, Inspiration, Love Always|

Hi everyone! Sue here with you today to continue with this week’s focus on “the story”, and using journaling on your layouts to make sure you tell the story behind the photos you scrap.

The page I have to share with you today features the beautiful ‘Love Always’ collection, and a candid photo of my children that I took a few years ago. It was taken back when my boys were still babies; when my daughter used to give them a nightly bottle while I prepared dinner for the rest of the family. We had a deal with her that she could watch whatever she wanted on TV while she did it.

I started with the soft pink side of the ‘Class Act’ paper as my base, and added some mixed media to it before I went any further. I first added some stamping using a random text stamp (perfect for a story theme, don’t you think?) to the top right corner and bottom left corner. I then added some pink watercolour paint over the top, to further define the focal areas of my page. Next, I added some smears of coloured texture paste, and some splatters of mist; then set it aside to dry.

The next step was to create the layered mat for my photo to sit on. I used a variety of papers (‘Note to Self’; ‘Class Act’ and ‘Lovely Things’), which I layered together with some messy cotton thread before mounting my photo on top. I also used some of the same papers in my cluster at the top of the page, along with pieces from the die cut ephemera pack.

Above my photo, I added the word together that was cut from the ‘Lovely Things’ cut apart paper; as well as a small arrow from the puffy sticker sheet. Alongside my photo, I added another piece from the cut apart, as well as an arrow from the chipboard accent sticker sheet.

I then added the two die cut butterflies from the ephemera pack just below my top cluster; and dotted some of the Sparkles enamel dots around my page.

To finish off, I added my typed journaling; as well as the small my heart is full banner from the ephemera pack as my title.

I am so glad this theme prompted me to get this memory documented before the details became a distant memory. Do you have any photos laying around that need their stories told too? I hope this week is inspiring you to get them out and document them.

Thanks for stopping by today. Until next time, happy scrapping!

Hello and a big welcome back to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog.

What do you get when you add Love Always, Free Spirt, Make A Wish, Hello Lovely and Colour Me Happy together?

An absolutely beautiful layout.

Flicking through all my beautiful Cocoa Vanilla Studio products deciding which collection I would use to scrapbook this photo of my sister and I, I began to pull out pieces of lots of collections and saw it all come together.

This layout came together quite quickly. It started with a double mounted photo and then came the arrangement of embellishments. I used foam mounting tape to create some dimension and some wood veneer to add a different texture.

So here is what I used to create this layout.

Love Always – Cardstock and Accessory Stickers

Free Spirt – Wood Veneer

Make A Wish – Enamel Dots

Hello Lovely – Die Cut Ephemera

Colour Me Happy – Flair Button

The Love Always accessory stickers are fabulous. If you struggle to journal or simply don’t like your handwriting then these stickers are for you.

I was truly blown away by how wonderful all the different collections pieces came together.

If you have any questions about the layout or techniques I have just please leave a comment in the comments section and I will respond to you. Now click HERE and head on over to the shop and grab yourself some beautiful scrapbooking supplies.

Take Care.

Spring | Bea Valint | Love Always

By | 2017-06-18T07:20:59+00:00 June 23rd, 2017|Love Always|

Hey everybody, it’s BEA with you today. Since it’s ‘Seasons’ week on the blog, I’m sure you’ve had great inspiration already. I love using flowers on my projects in all forms, like die cuts, fussy cut shapes, ephemera pieces, wood veneers, so it was not a question that I chose SPRING! I took many photos of my little girl last spring, she enjoyed so much picking flowers from the garden (and put all of them into her hair, because she played ‘flower princess’ 🙂 I decided to use the soft and beautiful Love Always collection for my layout, it is absolutely perfect for a floral theme.

I started my layout with die cutting a floral cut file from white card stock, and backed the flowers with soft pink patterned paper. For the leaves I used mint patterned paper. I chose a wide striped patterned paper as my background, and placed the flowers in the middle of the page.  For adding some interesting details I stitched circles behind the flower shapes.

I layered paper doily and some pieces of patterned paper behind my photo, and placed in the center of my layout. I like the way how the flowers surround the photo and drive the eyes to the focal point! For embellishing I arranged some ephemera pieces, stickers, wood veneers and a flair button around my photo. I mainly adhered them with foam tape which gives depth to the layout.

For creating my title I mixed and matched the pretty handwritten wood veneer shape with some chip board letters, and stamped the date of the photo above them.

I hope I could inspire you with my layout today! Have a nice weekend! Bea

Hello everyone. Welcome in another post in our “Scrap lift week”. This time it was my turn to choose one from many fantastic pages created by CVS team and scrap lift it. I struggled a lot because I wanted to scrap lift at least 10 pages (and I probably will do in the future 🙂 ). I finally decided to go crazy with large photo and I chose page created by talented Ulrike Dold.

This is my version:

And here is a beautiful page of Ulrike.

I decided to keep it as much similar as possible. I used big picture, various paper strips, wood veneer title and small embellishments here and there. I slightly changed the color scheme from pink to pink-blue-orange. It was such a great pleasure and fun to scrap lift this page.

You all know how easy it is to combine few CVS collections in one project. And it’s exactly what I did here. I picked some pink and blue papers from various collections and added few pattern papers. I dived into “Hello lovely“, “Love always” and “Make a wish” collections I picked few papers. I combine them in triangular shapes and sew them with sewing machine.

I also created a wood veneer title. Word HEART is from “Wild at heart” wood veneers set and word SWEET is from “Love always” wood veneers set.

I also gathered matching stickers and other embellishments. You can spy cute deer from button set from “Free spirit” collection along with paper flowers from “Hello lovely” collection. I also used few puffy stickers from “Make a wish” and mix of enamel dots.

I rarely use big pictures but working with them is such a different experience. You can’t add too much of embellishments and papers because the picture is a main focus of the page. I really like creating this way I will for sure try to use more of big photos.

Stars, splashes and some dimensional elements like rubber charms and chipboard stickers are like a cherry on the top of this page. I love the final result.

Thank You for stopping by and see You in two weeks.

For Zoe’s first class, (daily from 9.30-11.30am); participants will create two gorgeous layouts using the hugely popular Wild at Heart collection. Zoe will also pass on her tips for getting the most out of your supplies and leave you inspired to continue to create when you get home. Class materials include papers, stickers, ephemera, wood veneer and more.

In Gwen’s 12.00-2.00pm class, participants will create two bright & beautiful layouts using the stunning Make a Wish collection and learn her tips for creating embellishment clusters in her signature layered style. (Those who are brave enough can even add some hand stitching to their pages.) Materials for this class include papers, stickers, ephemera and enamel shapes.

Zoe’s final class each day (2.30-4.30pm) is a traveler’s notebook style mini album, featuring the beautiful Love Always collection. Participants in this class will learn how easy it can be to create a treasured keepsake, and can either follow the directions, or go their own way to customise their album to their own needs. Grandma | Wild At Heart | Amanda Baldwin

By | 2017-05-07T22:08:09+00:00 May 13th, 2017|Chit Chat, Colour Me Happy, Cut Files, Design Team, Love Always, Wild at Heart|

Hi Cocoa Vanilla Studio Friends!

Amanda here, and today I am sharing a super sweet Mother’s Day theme layout with the Wild At Heart collection. This collection is oh-so-pretty and perfect for all the special ladies in our lives!  This layout is dedicated to a wonderful Grandmother who is very dear to us! So lucky to call her our Grandma!

“Grandma”

Isn’t this delicate and divine?!! There’s a real softness and femininity to the watercolour background and those butterflies! You’ll spy that the Colour Me Happy Cut Files, Bitty Blooms,Alphabet Stickers from the Love Always collection team up perfectly with the Wild At Heart line too!

The CV-WH003 MARIPOSA fussy cut butterflies, and that Chipboard Accent Sticker butterfly are a main feature of this layout! Infact, the wing pattern and colours, and flight path were the inspiration for that delicate watercolour background too!

Let’s take a closer look……

Those butterflies really are divine!!! I adore that chipboard one tucked beneath my top corner of my precious photograph! Speaking of chipboard, you’ll also notice my photo being supported by a pretty pastel Chipboard Frame. There are two smaller frames anchoring my design too! And let’s not forget those cut files!!!! Who doesn’t love to add an extra layer, or point of interest, with a pretty Cocoa Vanilla Studio cut file?!

More deliciousness here with those pretty blooms, &  Wood Veneer Words (hearts). I love the warmth and balance that the wooden hearts bring to this design. Still soft and delicate, but just cutting through all the cool pastels and adding interest too!

I need to make mention of the Accessory Stickers! I love the typewriter font words, and these sweet sentiments double up  like little pops of journalling on my layout – so awesome! I’ve arranged them to follow the ‘flight path’ of the butterflies, in a diagonal flow. Love the extra element these stickers provide!

And how sweet is that ‘Be your kind of beautiful’ butterfly Accessory Sticker layered on the frame in the bottom corner……

Just loving it all!!! I mean seriously, that XO chipboard heart is too cute for words!!! And check out my favourite, go-to finishing touches item, the Enamel Dots (Sparkles)…..

Fab-u-lous! The Enamel Dots are truly a staple for every scrapbooker!!! I can’t live without them, lol!

I love that delicate ombre effect on the Love Always Alphabet Stickers title – very soft, and beautifully coordinated with the Wild At Heart collection.

Here’s a closer look at the top corner of my layout…..

SO very pretty!

Love this wonderful lady, and I think Wild At Heart was just perfect for capturing her!

I hope my layout has inspired you!

And to all the wonderful women in our lives, Happy Mother’s Day!

til next time,

Happy Arty Days,

Amanda xo
