Hi Creative Friends,

Gwen, back today for another layout to share.  This week on the blog the DT are focusing on Hearts and Flowers!  You will all know this was NOT a challenge at all for me as I adore working with both!  I started with this cute selfie taken by Miss 10 of herself and the cat, there is nothing quite like finding gems like these on your phone, I so adore them!

The inspiration for this page began with the cut file from Paper Issues.  As my photo was a little grainy, I knew it would have to stay quite small in size so I thought I’d go for a large cut file element to fill in the remainder of the page.  I also knew at this point I wanted to use the bright pink, green and yellow tones in the Fresh Cut paper from the Make A Wish Collection as my inspiration.

I don’t actually end up using a lot of this paper, however, it really was my starting point for the page. There are so many times where I’m not sure to start and pretty products like these always get me inspired!

I started by backing the three flowers in my cut file with this paper and the leaves as well, with the Party Dots paper.  I also used these 2 papers as the mount for my photo.  I also wanted to pull out floral elements from the die cut ephemera as well as the vellum accents pack.  Both of these packs have so many pretty floral elements, I knew they would all be a perfect fit!!  I also now took the time to fussy cut out a few of the yellow and pink flowers from the Fresh Cut paper.

Now was the time for some fun!  I simply went about adding floral elements in between and over the top of the cut file piece.  I was going for a floral explosion here!  I also found this pretty little vellum piece in the vellum accents pack and thought it would be a very sweet title, I’ve just hand stitched it onto a circle of white cardstock and placed it in the center of the middle flower.

You can see here my photo mat and some of the die cut pieces.  The paper flower is part of the Hello Sunshine Collection – shop them here.

Now was the time to think about adding some hearts for the “heart” part of the challenge… I had certainly covered flowers at this point 🙂

I went with the Free Spirit Resin hearts and Life is Beautiful Wood Veneer hearts, I just love how all of the Cocoa Vanilla collections work so well together and they were a really nice finishing touch.   I have also added in a wood veneer butterfly from this same pack to pull together the die cut butterflies I have added.

I really loved the page at this point, but felt it was missing something… it was still very white on white and needed a little more contrast.  So I decided to add a little more stitching.  Well, a lot more stitching actually!  I had already added some for the circle title element, so it made sense to add some more around that floral piece.  Then I added more on the leaves and a few other floral elements in pink, green and yellow….  the 3 colours that started it all in the first place!

Lastly, I added a few sequins for some sparkle and the page was done!  This one did take a while with all the stitching and lots and lots of small elements, but I am super happy with how it turned out, I think it was worth it!

Thanks for popping by today

Until next time

Snap Happy | Wild At Heart | Ulrike Dold

Hello everyone,

Ulli here with you today sharing a new layout focusing on the accessory stickers from the gorgeous Wild at Heart collection.

I had the idea of creating a water color background on the top of my 8.5×11 layout with a stitched banner of stickers over it.

First I took my water colors and added a transition of colors from pink, peach, yellow to blue. I waited until it dried and typed the journaling with my typewriter on the bottom of my layout. I should always write the journaling first down somewhere else, it´s always the same… this time I wrote about only one photo and not about those two photos. But meanwhile I can accept it when I do some mistakes on my layouts. We can’t be perfect every time and that´s okay.

I added stickers from the Wild At Heart accessory sticker sheet from the left side to the right side and began also with pink first, over peach and yellow to blue.

I also used a rubber charm and a die cut heart from the Wild at Heart collection.

I  made a banner with the stickers and some of them I glued on with glue dots to give them some dimension. After that I stitched over the banner with my sewing machine.

I then glued my pictures under two of those awesome Wild at heart chipboard frames and placed them in the middle of my layout. To make the layout more interesting I glued the frame on the left side a little bit higher than the other.

For my title I chose the „Snap happy“ flair button  from the Hello Lovely collection and placed it on a circle sticker in the middle under the frames with the photos.

Then I glued some word stickers from the Wild at Heart collection under the frames and one sticker on the frame on the left side.

To finish it off I stamped the date with a roller stamp next to the  photo on the left side and glued some enamel dots and shapes from the Wild at Heart collection and other Cocoa Vanilla collections on the water colored paper above and on some of the stickers from the banner.

I hope you like my layout and had fun reading my post!

Till next time,

Forever In My Heart | Wild At Heart & Endless Summer | Ulrike Dold

Hello everyone,

Ulli here with you today sharing a new layout I made for the „All About Color“ theme this week.

I love colors, but I often scrap using a limited color palette, so I struggled with this challenge at first. But sometimes you just need a little bit of time to think and develop a concept.

Eventually I came up with the idea of creating a large circle in rainbow colors on a 12×12 page. For this I wanted to use only cardstock that I water colored myself, paired with lots of Cocoa Vanilla embellishments.

First I took my water color pencils and added a bit of yellow, orange, pink, blue and green on a white card stock (in different areas so the colors wouldn’t mix). I then added a bit of water to the colors with a paint brush and waited until all of it dried. I chose various floral craft dies and die cut them with my Big Shot.

My starting point was a small black and white photo that was taken on our holiday on Kuramathi Island in the Maldives in May 2012. I decorated it with die cuts, rubber charms and some water colored leaves in my favorite color, pink.

I then completed my circle from right to left with orange, yellow, green and blue and ended up with pink again.

I used several Cocoa Vanilla collections to create this colorful circle: Wild at Heart, Hello Lovely, You Rock, Endless Summer, Colour Me Happy, Free Spirit and Make A Wish. It was so much fun to use the ephemera die cuts, woodies, enamel dots, stickers, rubber charms, paper flowers and all the other beautiful Cocoa Vanilla Embellishments! And of course I used my water colored leaves and flowers too. Often I glued die cuts on glue dots to give them some dimension. I also added a few smaller items from my stash – especially in yellow, because I didn’t have enough embellishments.

For my title I chose the „Forever In My Heart“ die cut from the Wild At Heart collection and placed it below my photo.

In the end I splattered some gold and black paint across the page. To finish it off I stamped the date with a roller stamp next to my photo on the left side.

I hope you like my layout and had fun reading my post!

Till next time,

Project Life Page 2-2017 | Hello Lovely | Ulrike Dold

By | 2017-07-28T06:23:48+00:00 August 12th, 2017|Design Team, Hello Lovely, Inspiration, Pocket Page|

Hello everybody,

Ulli here with you sharing a double page from my 2017 project life album. I made these with the absolutely gorgeous Hello Lovely collection. And you see that this collection can be also a perfect match with the season winter and with snow.

When I saw the colors from my photos, especially the photos with me and my floral winter jacket, I knew that I would need the Hello Lovely collection with all its pink, aqua and orange.

There is one paper in this collection which is perfect for project life. The paper “Lucky Dip” has one side with PL cards, some paper stripes, arrows and labels to cut out.

I first cut apart all the PL cards, paper strips and labels using a paper trimmer and a scissor. Then I sorted all my pictures and filled my 9×12 page protectors with them. I used only photos from our winter vacation in Austria and so it was easy to choose them. Then I filled some protectors with the Hello Lovely PL cards. Some of the photos I glued on white 3×4 cards which I made with white cardstock. I often use white cardstock to make my pages look bright.

Here you can see the left side from my page.

I typed my journaling on the Hello Lovely “Confetti” paper with the wooden pattern. Above I added some pink alphas from my stash.

I decorated the page with stickers from the accessory sticker sheet, ephemera pieces, enamel dots and a flair button.

Here is the right side of my double page.

Therefor I added two 3×4 PL cards and glued the first letters from the names of our kids with wooden alpha stickers from the Hello Lovely collection in the flourish circle. Then I glued a paper stripe under the black and white photo from them. I also used a flair button there.

One photo I decorated with the “lovely” banner and I used my stapler to secure the banner to my photo.

I glued my age with pink alphas from my stash under the photo from my birthday muffins and also an arrow from the “Lucky Dip” paper.

The big picture with the beautiful snowy landscape I decorated with a paper stripe and a flower die cut.

I stamped the date with a roller stamp next to some of the photos and splattered some gold paint over some of the PL cards.

I hope you like my PL page!

Thank you for stopping by today! See you soon, Ulli

Puppy Love | Hello Lovely | Lauren Hender

Hello everyone! A big welcome back to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog. I am having a fabulous week because I recently went away on a creative retreat and got some time to focus on me and be inspired by creative amazing people. At the retreat I created the layout I am sharing with you today. This layout celebrates the adorable relationship my daughter has with her puppy named Elsa. Can you guess what collection I have used to create this layout? I love it and I am sure it is a favourite of many.

Have you guessed it yet? …

It’s the prettiest HELLO LOVELY collection. This perfect match of pink, aqua and orange together with flower clusters and hearts matched my photos perfectly highlighting the cute relationship with my little girl and her puppy.

I started building this layout by fussy cutting some large flower clusters from the GLIMMER CARDSTOCK . I was lucky enough to have two sheets of this and the backside become the base page of the layout. Aren’t they beautiful. I couldn’t resist by added a few strips of watercolour to make them pop a little and coordinate with the collection.

I mounted my photos and began to set my layout out using the die cut ephemera pack and the wood veneers. These packs are so wonderful the layout easily came together. Can you see what else I have used in this collection?

There they are the couple of pieces from the Hello Lovely sticker sheet. It’s a great set and in this layout I have used two boarder strips slightly off centre and mounted with foam to give them some pop. I also used the alphabet sticker sheet to highlight our little puppy’s name Elsa.

I hope this layout has inspired you to get creative and if you have a little puppy then scrapbook him or her.

Hi Creative friends,

Gwen here today to share another layout, this one featuring the beautiful Hello Lovely collection and a joyful picture of Miss 10 inside a Butterfly house on a recent family holiday.  I was drawn to this collection for its beautiful flower and butterfly icons, both the perfect fit for my photo.

I began this page at a crop with a friend and as I started working, I really wasn’t feeling like the page was working.  I don’t often scrap away from home and I think I had left my mojo behind!  So, instead of pushing paper around the page for hours, I thought, why not spend the time chatting and adding some hand stitching to the delicate background paper?

I began by cutting out the floral/star design on the B side of the Delightful paper.  I then poked holes around the outer edge and then all intersecting lines and stitched away.  Yep, it took a while, but I am so in love with how it turned out.

Next, it was time to mat my photo, I was able to squeeze a photo mat out of the remaining piece of this paper and for softness added a layer of vellum from my stash.  I have kept the photo mat layers to a minimum as I didn’t want to cover up or distract from all that hand stitching I had just spent hours doing!

To create my floral embellishment clusters, I’ve taken the Glimmer paper and fussy cut out the florals from the B side, I’ve chosen the smaller ones in the design and teamed them with elements from the Die cut Ephemera pack and Accessory Stickers sheet.

I’ve also combined a few things from other collections, like the Free Spirit Woodies and Love Always Wood Veneer, Bits and Pieces and Enamel Dots – sparkles.  I just love how everything works so well together, even if they are different collections.  This is a great way to use up bits and pieces.

I’ve worked around my photo creating a larger cluster on the left and a smaller one on the right, layering as I went being sure to pop up some elements on foam tape for dimension.

I love the mix of textures too, from the flat stickers to the wood elements to the metal butterflies, they all add interest to the design.

I’ve added my title at the bottom of the page and to coordinate with the wood elements in the clusters, I have used more wood veneer.  These are a mixture of collections with the word “Happy” coming from the Love Always collection and the “you” coming from the Wood Veneer Words from the Colour Me Happy collection.

I am really happy with how it turned out especially considering I didn’t think this one was working at the start! Proof, you can make things work if you go with the flow a little and stay flexible in your design process.

Shine Bright | Hello Lovely | Elodie Lusseau

By | 2017-07-11T19:40:10+00:00 July 17th, 2017|Design Team, Hello Lovely, Inspiration|

Happy Monday, crafty peeps!

It’s Elodie on the blog today with a new layout featuring the super pretty Hello Lovely collection that you can find here in the CVS online store. I played along with last week’s summer theme and used a large photo of my little one playing on the beach a couple of years ago.

To go with this cute summery pic, I wanted to create a little scene and decided to make a shining sun on my page. And this design was just perfect for my little miss sunshine!

I started with the background and backed a piece of the Lucky Dip paper with the Flower Patch paper and its beautiful floral pattern.

To make the sun, I drew a circle on one side of the photo using a pan as a template and cut it following the pencil lines. I then handstitched the borders with white thread and placed it on the background with foam squares to make it stand out.

My next step was to embellish the borders of the picture with gorgeous Hello Lovely embellies: die cuts from the ephemera pack, enamel dots and a flair button for the title.

For the sunbeams, I used paper banners from the ephemera pack as well as strips that I cut out in the Delightful, Glimmer, Confetti, Lucky Dip and Flower Patch papers. I stamped the date on one of the banners, I gently folded up the sides of the strips to add a little more dimension to my layout and tucked them under the photo. I love how the colorful embellies and paper strips pop against the black and white photo and background!

I had a lot of fun creating this summer page and I hope it inspires you to go big and use large photos on your layouts! Thanks so much for visiting the CVS blog today! Wishing you a lovely day and a great week ahead!
