Hello crafty people. As you probably noticed – it’s a STICKERS WEEK on Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog. I am very happy about it because let’s be honest – who doesn’t like stickers? They are so easy and fast to use, come in a variety of shapes and colors. Perfect type of embellishments.
You can find many types of stickers at CVS Store like: chipboard stickers, regular sticker, alpha stickers and puffy stickers. I mixed them together on this sunny – funny page.
I had a series of cute pictures of my little girl playing at the pool. They are mostly blue so I thought – let’s make a fun, blue background. I searched through all the CVS collections and picked every blue paper I found. I grouped them and decided to use 8 patterns together. You can spot papers from Color me happy, Wild at heart, Hello sunshine, Make a wish, You rock and Endless summer collections. I just cut a stripe of paper and combined them all together creating a whole new 12*12 paper.
With all that patterns my page didn’t need much of embellishing. Small stickers and other elements were just perfect to add them here and there.
Adding dimension to my pages is one of my favourite techniques while creating a layout. That’s why I love wood veneers, woodies and flair buttons. All of them used on my page are from “Hello sunshine” collection.
That’s all for today. Thank you for stopping by and see you in two weeks.
It’s stickers theme week, and boy-oh-boy do I have a fun You ROCK layout to share with you today! I have this super cute photo of my boy, aka the Rock Star, that was just perfect for today’s share! If you love scrapping the boys, or are just looking for more masculine layout inspiration, then today’s post is for you! Here’s my cool scrapbook page,
Isn’t this striking, and oh-so much FUN?!! I love the colour and pattern combinations in this design! And let’s not forget all those fabulous stickers!!! So much awesome here, and that pie chart cut file (from Paper Issues) really lets those pattern papers shine against that CV-YR005 NIGHT SKY background paper. Love it!
Let’s take a closer look at it all….
How cool are those FLAIR BUTTONS?!! I love the senitments – Boys Rule, BOOM!!! Such a perfect match for my Mister A for Awesome! And while they’re not officially a ‘sticker’ as such, they are still the best dimensional stick-on embellishment for masculine layouts! My faves! But today is all about the stickers so let’s here it for those amazing ACCESSORY STICKERS and CHIPBOARD ACCENT STICKERS! Yes! They totally rock! To make mine stand out even more, I have positioned them inside their very own piece of the pie chart – very cool!!! I never tire of the typewriter font word stickers, and they’re perfect if you’re not a fan of your own handwriting too 😉 Here’s a better look at those incredible CHIPBOARD ACCENT STICKERS ……
Aren’t they the coolest?!! Fun, bright, bold and striking! As well as highlighting them in their own ‘piece of pie’, the stickers are also mounted on varying pattern papers from the You ROCK collection! The blue chevron design of CV-YR009 GALACTIC (reverse side) really makes those white type font stickers ‘pop’! Similarly, the white base of ruled pattern paper, CV-YR005 NIGHT SKY (reverse side) really allows those cool blue chippy stickers to be the hero! In typical Cocoa Vanilla Studio fashion, everything coordinates so perfectly! LOVE it all!!!
Those CHIPBOARD ACCENT STICKERS are really something aren’t they? One In A Million indeed! And that arrow! You’ll also spy more fun arrows in pattern paper, CV-YR003 THIS WAY guiding your eye into my super cute boy photograph! Arrow-tastic!
And I can’t not mention those luscious layers beneath my photo…..
Ooooh! So much paper & sticker goodness here!!! You’ll spy layers of patterned papers, CV-YR005 NIGHT SKY, and CV-YR006 RANDOM (both sides), as well as some fussy cut stars from CV-YR001 STARSHINE In between those divine layers, are a few more super fun ACCESSORY STICKERS because, well, you can never have too much awesomeness! A few super cute RUBBER CHARMS complete the layout, and wow! There you have it! What an impact stickers can have on your projects!
I hope my masculine take on this weeks Stickers Theme has inspired you to get creating!
Happy Saturday, Cocoa Vanilla Studio fans! I have a bright and floral layout to share today! I used the incredible stunning Wild at Heart collection. They make it so easy to create gorgeous artsy layouts! I couldn’t be more excited about that.
For this page, I started with cutting flowers with my Cameo using CVS cut file designed by Zoe and backed the flowers and leaves with patterned paper. I chose the amazing Artisan patterned paper for my background. I’m sure I’m not only one who loves these pretty paper pre-made pages where you can just adhere your photos and embellishments onto the page and you are pretty much done… and the result is fabulous! The watercolor effect makes a really artsy mood to this page.
I cut my big title out of the Grow Wild patterned paper and adhered with foam tape to the background. I love the contrast between the light background the dark letters! Arranged the die cut flowers around the page, placed some butterflies just here and there and adhered ephemera pieces and stickers around my photo. I love how all the layering turned out so well on this layout. Just so perfect with the cute photo along with all the bright colors!
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope I’ve inspired you to get creative and make something pretty with Wild at Heart collection. Bea
Hi scrappy friends! Emma on the blog today to share my next mini-album. I just love making these little books. I’ve been hoarding pieces of You Rock specifically so I could use it in this mini album 😉
This mini is about Zack’s second year playing junior football and I have to preface this by letting you know it’s not quite finished.. You see, as I was putting it together, Zack totally surprised me by asking if he could put the “stories” in the book this year. Umm, YES!!! How awesome is that?! Makes my scrappy-heart so happy when he flips through the pages/albums I make, but doubly so when he actually asks to contribute in making it! So to make a long story short, his “stories” are not quite ready but soon as he’s finished they’ll be printed onto tags that tuck in behind the photos (per his request).
I went with a 4×4 album for the base of my album (I have a habit of buying them whenever I see them on sale…) and used the plastic pockets for the majority of my pages. I’ve learned that some mini albums need to be a little hardier than others (little hands can be a little rough) and the pockets protect everything perfectly.
The actual album format is very similar to what I did last year – each week is separated by a tab and I’ve used various alpha stickers to number each tab (Round one, two, etc).
For my tabs I cut patterned paper into 2 x 2/2.5 inch wide strips and just folded them over in the middles – then I stitched them straight to the edges of my plastic pockets. Originally they were much wider because I had planned on having them poke out the sides of the album but afterI’d finished stitching them all on, I didn’t like it (always the way!) so I just used scissors to cut them down which is why some of the words are cut in half. I thought the words being chopped would bug me but I strangely enough, I like how it looks!
I love sequin pockets so you can bet I had to include one in this mini (I think almost all my mini albums have some kind of sequin pocket, haha). I used the yellow sequins from Made of Awesome and just added a few black sequins from my stash (yellow and black are our team colours).
I’m sure I’ve said this before but adding all the embellishments to a page is my favourite part of the process and there are so many amazing pieces in the You Rock collection. I’ve used a piece from almost all of it throughout this little book and I love how it finished up.
The sticker sheets definitely got a work out throughout this album; I ended up using the sticker labels from quite a few collections because I ran out of the ones from You Rock hah!
I love all the word phrases from the sticker sheets and ended up putting them everywhere 😉 In this mini I’ve actually stuck most of my embellishments directly on top of my plastic pocket rather than the photo itself (which also made it super easy to move things around if I changed my mind, haha).
(I love the photo below – it’s the biggest and smallest of our team this year – Zack was always messing around with Lachlan, he may be small but he knows exactly how to get Zack back…double-fold, every.single.time!)
I did include a little journaling – each week the coach would send out a little report about the game so I just printed it out and stuck it to some plain 3×4 journal cards that I had in my stash. Once Zack has finished typing up his part I will print it onto tags and he wants me to tuck those behind the photo’s (although depending on how much he types, I may put some of it on the back of the 3×4 cards!).
Although the main reason for using plastic pockets in this album is to protect it (the kids tend to flip through them and sometimes the paper rips 😉 – super happy they look through them but I want the albums to last too!), I found the process of putting this little book together to be easier than usual which is a major win in my book. I tend to fuss about the tiniest little details so anything that makes that process faster (like going with 4×4 photos that just slide into pockets!) is a win for me. Add to that that I stuck with the You Rock collection and the album was pure joy to create. I can’t wait for Zack to complete his part so we can finish it off 🙂
And here’s a quick little flip through the full album 🙂
Thanks so much for joining me on the blog today – hope this might help inspire you to try creating your own mini-album using the You Rock collection, it’s perfect for it! Take care, Em xo
Amanda here, & I am super excited to share my take on this week’s colour theme. There are so many ways to interpret this colour focus, but for me it had to be all about those happy hues in our gorgeous Hello Sunshine collection! The vibrancy of this collection has always made my heart sing & I hope my layout today brings you the same joy! But enough chatter, here’s my layout…..
“The Best Memories”
Isn’t this pretty?!! And whoa! Talk about all the colour!!! La la love it! This page was inspired by a sudden desire to fussy cut patterned paper CV-HS001 FULL BLOOM. The florals in this paper are just divine! I arranged mine in a crescent design, encapsulating my sweet photograph & then ‘built’ my page from there. To enhance those bright blooms, I created a watercolour ‘path’ for them to be arranged onto, focusing particularly on those sunset colours with a soft blue highlighter. I finished off my paint work with a few splatters too! This was tons of fun & I just love the end result! Let’s take a closer look……
Those fussy cut blooms are just so gorgeous, and make the perfect frame for my treasured photo! As well as that fabulous mixed media base, I have also added a mix of WOOD VENEER, ENAMEL SHAPES, PUFFY STICKERS, & WOODIES to that top cascading section – love it all! But that wooden button with the coordinating bloom on it is my favourite! I mean, seriously, could it get any more perfect for my layout design?! So awesome!
As you travel around my photo, you’ll also spy the introduction of FANCY BUTTONS, ACCESSORY STICKERS, & those super cute LITTLE HEARTS. I just adored the sentiment sticker, ‘The Best Memories Are Here’ that I chose to mount it on double thick foam tape and use it as my title. As you travel down a lil further, you’ll spot those blooms (& leaves) in WOOD VENEER form – so good! Here’s another view for you…..
Gah! SO much pretty here! And oh, that puffy heart!!!
Speaking of puffy stickers, I use ‘the best’ as my finishing touch to this sweet page….

Hey everyone. It’s Raquel here today sharing a new layout for multi-photo week featuring the new You Rock collection. For the multi photo theme this week I challenged myself to include as many different photos of the subject of my layout as I could using a couple of different techniques.
The subject of my layout is my little man. Recently he had a little run in with his cubby house window and the ground. Let’s just say he likes to test boundaries all the time and unfortunately it didn’t go in his favour. A trip to the GP (doctor) resulted in him having a bandage on his head to stop the bleeding and assist the wound to heal. It looks like it was a lot more serious by the bandage on his head however it was covering approx a 1cm cut. This little man barely shed a tear and was so brave that I just had to document this moment in his life.
Here is the layout I created:
Initially when looking at the layout the main 4×6″ photo is the focal point of the photo. I matted the photo with the Night Sky patterned paper and added some of the reverse side of the paper underneath also. Some ephemera finished this off.
What you can’t see in the pictures initially is all the hidden journaling and photos under this main 4×6″ photo. I created a flip album of sorts that contains many different photos taken to support this story. I really enjoyed playing with the papers and photos o wanted to add to create small flip pages that once all opened reveal hidden journaling.
Here is some close ups of those extra photos and the journaling.
As you can can see by creating this flip up I was able to add multiple photos to this page without overcrowding the initial design.
Another fun addition to the page that you may notice as well is the extra three photos on the bottom right of the page that I added in the form of the ‘photo negative strip’ from the ephemera pack. In previous layouts I had only used the negative strip pieces on ephemera packs as layering tools so it was fun to use it in its literal sense on a page. To print photos to fit I measured the negative space and then added that as a custom size in my photo printing software. Excitedly this worked and the photos fit perfectly. Not only was I able to add an extra few photos to the page but it also acted as a tool to balance the top heaviness of the top of the layout and the embellishing.
I tend to add some kind of repeated shape to a boy/masculine layout. On this page I chose stars and used them around the photo and then around the title area too.
I also added wood veneer in the three main clusters on the page. This compliments the wood pattern of the Plus One patterned paper.
The title of the page is ‘brave little dude’. To create this title I used the typewritten words ‘brave’ and ‘little’ and then for ‘dude’ I backed a free cut file from the Paper Issues store with the Experimental patterned paper.
Here’s a quick little glimpse at how the hidden photos and journaling look and work on the page:
Thanks for stopping by the blog today. I hope I have been able to show you some fun ways to include more photos on a single page layout.
