Hello everyone,

Ulli here with you today sharing my first layout with the gorgeous new Bohemian Dream collection with you.

This week we show here on the Cocoa Vanilla blog a project that describes our scrapbooking style. I would describe my scrapbooking style as playful and light. I often take white cardstock as my background and I love it to use girly collections with the colors pink and mint and with flowers. And so I thought the new Bohemian Dream collection would be perfect to make a layout in the “thinkpinkandmint-style”.

I decided to make a page with a black and white photo of our little daughter. The beautiful colors and pretty embellishments from the Bohemian Dream collection are pretty perfect for girly projects.

I used a diamond cut file from my Silhouette library and backed it with my favorite paper, the  “Wild and Free” patterned paper from the Bohemian Dream collection. Therefor I used the paper side with the multicolored dots. Then I stitched with my sewing machine and white sewing thread over the outlines of the diamond and let overlap some rests of the sewing thread. I love the playful look when I don’t cut off the sewing thread completely. I think this is a style that´s typical for me.

Then I cut two paper stripes from the “Kaleidoscope” and the “Wild and Free” papers from the pretty new Bohemian Dream collection. I used the side with the woodgrain from the “Kaleidoscope” paper and the blue side from the “Wild and Free” paper. I  fringed the blue paper with my fringe scissor and glued both paper stripes on the lower quarter of my white 12×12 cardstock. Then I stitched  a few times over the border above.

I placed my photo on my layout and glued the diamond with glue dots on the right side above. Then I splattered some gold and black paint across the page. That´s also a typical thing for me – I love it to do that and I nearly always use only the colors black and gold.

I added some of the gorgeous flower die cuts from the new Bohemian Dream collection under and above the right corner of the diamond and glued the super cute chipboard bird over it. I also decorated it with the “Live a colourful life” and the “Be yourself” stickers from the Accessory sticker sheet.

On the left side I glued the “Hello beautiful” sticker and a die cut butterfly on the diamond.

I glued also some of the amazing die cut flowers on the left lower corner from the photo.

Then I inked the upper part of the cute “Lovely” chipboard title with a pink ink pad and let it dry. I placed the title over the woodgrain stripe and stitched over it with my sewing machine.

I glued the “Shine Bright” chipboard sticker over my photo and added one of  these cute enamel hearts over it. Then I typed the date with my typecast on a label sticker and glued it with glue dots under my photo. Glue dots are also always a inherent part of my layouts because I love to work with more dimension on my projects. And I also often use my beloved mint typewriter to type the date and/or the journaling on my layouts.

After that I placed some word stickers on the paper stripes – two of them with glue dots as well. Then I glued the „Wild child“ button from the Bohemian Dream collection besides the chipboard title on my layout. I really love the amazing Cocoa Vanilla flair buttons. They are so adorable and they are always an eye catcher!

To finish off my page I added some enamel dots in orange, blue and pink on my layout. Enamel dots and shapes are always some of my favorites embellishments, because I use them on nearly all my projects for the last finishing. They give projects some playfulness as well.

I hope you like my blogpost and my layout. What scrapbooking style do you have and what techniques do you use often?

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Wedding Album | Wild At Heart | Ulrike Dold

By | 2017-09-23T06:19:08+00:00 September 26th, 2017|Design Team, Inspiration, Wild at Heart|

Hi everyone,

Ulli here with you today sharing a wedding album.

Friends of us got married in the end of August this year and so I decided to make them a mini album as a present. I made it without pictures, so that the bride can fill it with wedding photos by herself.
They have celebrated a boho wedding and I knew immediately what collection I wanted to choose: of course Wild At Heart! It was really the perfect match and I saw it in the eyes of the bride as I hand it her.
For the cover I upholstered two pieces of cardboard (15×15 cm) with the “Grow Wild” paper from the gorgeous Wild At Heart collection. I cut the patterned paper in 20×20 cm pieces and used ultra clear tape for glueing the papers on the cardboard. For the inside from the cover and the back of the album I used squares of coral cardstock in 14×14 cm.
I made the binding very simple and used four bookrings in two different colors for it. With my Cinch I punched four holes for them in the middle of the left side from my cover and in the back of the album.
I decorated the cover with a white circle of white cardstock, alpha stickers in gold and blue, the “Precious” sticker from the accessory stickers sheet, paper flowers from different Cocoa Vanilla collections and die cut pieces (flower and butterfly) from the Wild At Heart ephemera pack. I also added some of the amazing glitter enamel dots here and there.

The single pages for this album I made with the following papers: “Luscious“, “Memento“, “Mariposa“, “Artisan” and “Double Dot“. For the simple decoration of the pages I used also the papers “Fussy Cut” and “Patchwork“. And of course the gorgeous stickers and word stickers from the accessory stickers sheet, glitter enamel dots, die cut ephemera, wood veneers and one chipboard frame. I also used some clear stamps and stamped them in black on some labels and on some of the pages.
I left enough space for the bride to fill the album with the wedding photos later. Also she can write some words about this special day on the PL card at the inside of the album.

To make the wedding album a little bit more interesting I made an eye catcher with a acetate page with big glitter polka dots in gold from my stash. I packed it between two pages from the album and decorated it in the middle of the page from both sides with die cut ephemera pieces.

As another eye catcher I made a vellum confetti page. I cut two pieces of vellum in 15×15 cm and stitched them on three sides together with my sewing machine. Then I filled this pocket with the “Happy” wood veneer word, some sequins in different colors and punched confetti pieces from paper scraps from the Wild At Heart collection.

After decorating all pages I punched them all with the Cinch as well and fit the album together.

I hope you like my mini book and get inspired to do a mini album with pretty Cocoa Vanilla scrapbooking supplies as well!
Till next time,

Ulli

Snap Happy | Wild At Heart | Ulrike Dold

By | 2017-09-08T21:50:23+00:00 September 12th, 2017|Design Team, Hello Lovely, Inspiration, Wild at Heart|

Hello everyone,

Ulli here with you today sharing a new layout focusing on the accessory stickers from the gorgeous Wild at Heart collection.

I had the idea of creating a water color background on the top of my 8.5×11 layout with a stitched banner of stickers over it.

First I took my water colors and added a transition of colors from pink, peach, yellow to blue. I waited until it dried and typed the journaling with my typewriter on the bottom of my layout. I should always write the journaling first down somewhere else, it´s always the same… this time I wrote about only one photo and not about those two photos. But meanwhile I can accept it when I do some mistakes on my layouts. We can’t be perfect every time and that´s okay.

I added stickers from the Wild At Heart accessory sticker sheet from the left side to the right side and began also with pink first, over peach and yellow to blue.

I also used a rubber charm and a die cut heart from the Wild at Heart collection.

I  made a banner with the stickers and some of them I glued on with glue dots to give them some dimension. After that I stitched over the banner with my sewing machine.

I then glued my pictures under two of those awesome Wild at heart chipboard frames and placed them in the middle of my layout. To make the layout more interesting I glued the frame on the left side a little bit higher than the other.

For my title I chose the „Snap happy“ flair button  from the Hello Lovely collection and placed it on a circle sticker in the middle under the frames with the photos.

Then I glued some word stickers from the Wild at Heart collection under the frames and one sticker on the frame on the left side.

To finish it off I stamped the date with a roller stamp next to the  photo on the left side and glued some enamel dots and shapes from the Wild at Heart collection and other Cocoa Vanilla collections on the water colored paper above and on some of the stickers from the banner.

I hope you like my layout and had fun reading my post!

Till next time,

Ulli

Forever In My Heart | Wild At Heart & Endless Summer | Ulrike Dold

By | 2017-08-22T06:28:18+00:00 August 26th, 2017|Colour Me Happy, Design Team, Endless Summer, Free Spirit, Hello Lovely, Inspiration, Make A Wish, Wild at Heart, You ROCK|

Hello everyone,

Ulli here with you today sharing a new layout I made for the „All About Color“ theme this week.

I love colors, but I often scrap using a limited color palette, so I struggled with this challenge at first. But sometimes you just need a little bit of time to think and develop a concept.

Eventually I came up with the idea of creating a large circle in rainbow colors on a 12×12 page. For this I wanted to use only cardstock that I water colored myself, paired with lots of Cocoa Vanilla embellishments.

First I took my water color pencils and added a bit of yellow, orange, pink, blue and green on a white card stock (in different areas so the colors wouldn’t mix). I then added a bit of water to the colors with a paint brush and waited until all of it dried. I chose various floral craft dies and die cut them with my Big Shot.

My starting point was a small black and white photo that was taken on our holiday on Kuramathi Island in the Maldives in May 2012. I decorated it with die cuts, rubber charms and some water colored leaves in my favorite color, pink.

I then completed my circle from right to left with orange, yellow, green and blue and ended up with pink again.

I used several Cocoa Vanilla collections to create this colorful circle: Wild at Heart, Hello Lovely, You Rock, Endless Summer, Colour Me Happy, Free Spirit and Make A Wish. It was so much fun to use the ephemera die cuts, woodies, enamel dots, stickers, rubber charms, paper flowers and all the other beautiful Cocoa Vanilla Embellishments! And of course I used my water colored leaves and flowers too. Often I glued die cuts on glue dots to give them some dimension. I also added a few smaller items from my stash – especially in yellow, because I didn’t have enough embellishments.

For my title I chose the „Forever In My Heart“ die cut from the Wild At Heart collection and placed it below my photo.

In the end I splattered some gold and black paint across the page. To finish it off I stamped the date with a roller stamp next to my photo on the left side.

I hope you like my layout and had fun reading my post!

Till next time,

Ulli

Project Life Page 2-2017 | Hello Lovely | Ulrike Dold

By | 2017-07-28T06:23:48+00:00 August 12th, 2017|Design Team, Hello Lovely, Inspiration, Pocket Page|

Hello everybody,

Ulli here with you sharing a double page from my 2017 project life album. I made these with the absolutely gorgeous Hello Lovely collection. And you see that this collection can be also a perfect match with the season winter and with snow.

When I saw the colors from my photos, especially the photos with me and my floral winter jacket, I knew that I would need the Hello Lovely collection with all its pink, aqua and orange.

There is one paper in this collection which is perfect for project life. The paper “Lucky Dip” has one side with PL cards, some paper stripes, arrows and labels to cut out.

I first cut apart all the PL cards, paper strips and labels using a paper trimmer and a scissor. Then I sorted all my pictures and filled my 9×12 page protectors with them. I used only photos from our winter vacation in Austria and so it was easy to choose them. Then I filled some protectors with the Hello Lovely PL cards. Some of the photos I glued on white 3×4 cards which I made with white cardstock. I often use white cardstock to make my pages look bright.

Here you can see the left side from my page.

I typed my journaling on the Hello Lovely “Confetti” paper with the wooden pattern. Above I added some pink alphas from my stash.

I decorated the page with stickers from the accessory sticker sheet, ephemera pieces, enamel dots and a flair button.

Here is the right side of my double page.

Therefor I added two 3×4 PL cards and glued the first letters from the names of our kids with wooden alpha stickers from the Hello Lovely collection in the flourish circle. Then I glued a paper stripe under the black and white photo from them. I also used a flair button there.

One photo I decorated with the “lovely” banner and I used my stapler to secure the banner to my photo.

I glued my age with pink alphas from my stash under the photo from my birthday muffins and also an arrow from the “Lucky Dip” paper.

The big picture with the beautiful snowy landscape I decorated with a paper stripe and a flower die cut.

I stamped the date with a roller stamp next to some of the photos and splattered some gold paint over some of the PL cards.

I hope you like my PL page!

Thank you for stopping by today! See you soon, Ulli

Beautiful Life | Wild at Heart | Ulrike Dold

By | 2017-07-13T05:34:50+00:00 July 26th, 2017|Design Team, Free Spirit, Inspiration, Wild at Heart, You ROCK|

Hello everyone,

Ulli here with you today sharing a new layout with you.

I am totally in summer mood and so I made a 8.5×11 layout with a photo from our kids in our vacation at Crete / Greece in May. They look so happy on this picture at the pool which I made with my smartphone.

I used the new and amazing free and summer themed cut files which you can find on the Cocoa Vanilla website. They are so cute and the waves are a perfect match to my photo.

In my photo there is so much navy and orange and so I first searched for some pretty Cocoa Vanilla papers which matches perfectly. I used the coral-white stripped paper “Fussy Cut” from the Wild at Heart collection and the “Starshine” paper from the new and awesome You Rock collection. Then I cut some waves with this papers and also with white cardstock.

I glued a coral wave on the top of the layout and stitched over it with my sewing machine. Then I glued 3 waves (in coral, navy and white) on the bottom of the layout and the picture behind the upper wave. I also stitched over every wave with my sewing machine and white sewing thread.

I splattered some gold and black paint across the page and placed the title above and under my photo. For the title I used the “Beautiful” Chipboard Sticker from the Wild at Heart collection and some white foam alphas from my stash. I placed a puffy heart sticker from the Free Spirit collection as the dot of the i.

After that I decorated my page with stickers and word stickers from the You Rock and the Wild at Heart collection and the puffy sticker “happy” from the Free Spirit collection. For some of the word stickers I used pop dots to add dimension.

I glued the “FAV” sticker from the Wild at Heart Accessory Sticker Sheet on the left side on the photo and a puffy sticker on the border from the picture.

To decorating the border with the wave above I used a circle sticker from the You Rock collection, an wooden shape anchor from the Endless Summer collection and a “&” woodie from the Free Spirit collection.

To finish off my page I stamped the date on my layout and decorated the whole page with enamel dots and a second woodie with a pineapple. This cute woodie is from the the free spirit collection.

I hope I could inspire you! Thanks so much for stopping by today!

You make me so happy | Hello Lovely | Ulrike Dold

By | 2017-07-01T06:58:28+00:00 July 12th, 2017|Design Team, Endless Summer, Hello Lovely, Inspiration, Wild at Heart|

Hello everyone,

Ulli here with you today sharing a summer themed layout with you. In Germany we have summer right now and it feels so good!

For this layout I used a picture from my daughter with my beloved flamingo 🙂 in Greece/Crete from two months ago. Sometimes I am a little bit crazy – I really had to buy this pink pool animal for our vacation.

I am still so in love with the “Luscious” water color paper in pink and peach from the gorgeous “Wild at Heart” collection and used it as my background paper for my 12×12 layout.

I cut a circle cut file with lotus flowers with my Silhouette Portrait and used it as a frame for my photo. After cutting I glued the photo behind it and stitched around the frame with my sewing machine.

Then I cut out a sector of a big circle from white cardstock. Therefor I used the Party Punch Board from We R Memory Keepers – it has 3 different radiuses and I used the biggest one. After that I glued it on the bottom of my layout and stitched over the border.

I splattered some gold and black paint across the page and placed the frame with the photo on my page.

For the title I used the “You make me so happy” sticker from the “Hello Lovely” Accessory Sticker Sheet and glued it besides my photo. I love it to do titles with stickers. It is such an easy way – especially when you have no idea for a special title.  I used foam dots to add some dimension.

Then I glued Die Cut Embellishments and word stickers from the “Hello Lovely” and “Endless Summer” collections on the border from the white cardstock to the background paper. I also used foam dots from time to time. The pink Die Cut flamingo from the “Endless Summer” collection was a perfect match to my photo.

I punched a hibiscus flower and leaves with a Kesi´ art Die and my Sizzix Big Shot and used pink and mint cardstock for it. Then I glued it on the left side of my photo.

I also decorated my photo with a Die Cut Flower from the “Hello Lovely” collection and a paper flower from the “Endless summer” collection. The paper flowers from Cocoa Vanilla Studio are so very beautiful and I am a little bit sad, that I have used almost all of them up now.

After that I decorated my page with arrow stickers and word stickers from the “Hello Lovely” collection. To finish off my page I added the wood veneer “Summer” from the “Endless Summer” collection, the flair button “&” from the “Hello Lovely” collection and some enamel dots.

In the end I wrote the place and the month where and when the picture was taken besides the frame.

I hope you like my layout and I could inspire you! Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Ulli
