About Sue Plumb

Sue is a stay at home mum of 3 (daughter Brielle, and twin sons Hunter and Kaden) and lives in the beautiful Glasshouse Mountains in Queensland. She began scrapping in 2008, shortly after her daughter was born. After the premature birth of her sons in 2012, she took 18 months off scrapping to concentrate on family and since her return says she is enjoying it more than ever. (Her biggest issue now is finding quiet time!) She currently designs for challenge blogs, and has had work published in magazines on numerous occasions, including the cover. She is also a 2017 Scrapbooking Memories magazine Creative Team member. Although primarily a 12×12 scrapper, she says she loves to dabble a bit with pocket style scrapping, art journaling, and the odd canvas and card too. She best describes her style as "versatile" - ranging from clean and linear one day, to messy mixed media the next.

Cherished | Bohemian Dream | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone! Sue Plumb here today to share my latest design team creation with you using the stunning ‘Bohemian Dream’ collection. This week the team are focusing on the theme of ‘Thankful’, and sharing projects that celebrate gratitude; so I decided to dedicate a page to my sister – who I am thankful for every day.

I kept this page surprisingly clean and neat for me, using the Abundant and Dreamer papers for my page background, with a diagonal design. I then created a layered mat for my photo using pieces of the Abstract; Gypsy Heart; and Boho Bits papers. I also added a paper doily from my stash before mounting my photo on top, using some cardboard underneath it for extra dimension.

Along the right side of my photo, I added the you brighten my world tag from the Accessory Sticker sheet, which I tied with a small piece of twine. I also added a sweet little bird from the Chipboard Accent Stickers. (I love the bird so much I HAD to use it, or it was destined to become one of those little things you love so much you hoard forever!)

I then created a cluster to the left of my photo. This time I used a floral piece that I fussy cut from the Abundant paper; which I topped with some messy cotton thread and the you are amazing flair button. I also added a small Chipboard Accent Sticker heart nearby.

To balance my design I created a third small cluster in the top right corner of my page. I used the word cherished as my title, which was cut from the Boho Bits paper and popped up on some foam tape to give it dimension. I also added some floral and leaf pieces from the Die Cut Ephemera pack. Below my cluster I added my strip journaling.

To finish my page (and add a touch of messy to keep my arty heart happy) I splattered some hot pink mist randomly around.

Thanks so much for stopping by today so I could share this with you. Happy Thanksgiving to all our American friends who are celebrating this week. Until next time, happy scrapping!

Dream Big | Bohemian Dream | Sue Plumb

By | 2017-11-04T15:20:25+00:00 November 7th, 2017|Bohemian Dream, Design Team, Inspiration|

Hi everyone!

Sue Plumb here and it’s time to share another design team project with you. Today I have a super pretty mixed media layout using the stunning new ‘Bohemian Dream’ collection and my (poor neglected) watercolour pencils. (Which, as it turns out, was a match made in heaven!)

I wanted to document this sweet photo I captured of my daughter and our cat. She totally adores him (and likewise he her), and often I find them asleep together in her bed.

I started with the wood grain print on the reverse side of the ‘Kaleidoscope’ paper as my base. I then took pieces cut from the ‘Boho Bits’ paper, along with pieces from the miniature version of the ‘Beautiful Mess’ paper from the 6×6″ paper pad, and stuck them randomly around my page.

I then took my watercolour pencils and sketched around and between each of the pieces, switching between different colours as I went. Once I had all the sketching in place, I went back over it with a small paint brush dipped in water to soften the lines and blend the colours out.

Next, I cut a piece of the ‘Gypsy Heart’ paper from the 6×6″ pad and placed it where my photo was going to go. I then added some messy cotton thread for soft texture before adding my photo on top. Above my photo, I tucked in the favourite tab from the die cut ephemera pack.

Then it was time to start adding some embellishments around my page. I was immediately drawn to the beautiful butterflies. (I am a huge fan of butterflies at the best of times, but the ones in this collection really have my heart – I wish I had a thousand of them!)

I managed to restrain myself to only five butterflies on the page. Two were from the chipboard accent sticker sheet; two from the die cut ephemera pack; and the final one (and my favourite), was the one below my photo which was fussy cut from the ‘Boho Bits’ paper. Below my photo was also the love you chipboard accent sticker sheet.

I clustered a few of the butterflies with floral pieces from the ephemera pack. (The florals in this range are SO gorgeous!) Alongside my photo I also added the words you are best friends from the accessory sticker sheet, along with a chipboard heart. To finish my page, I added a few hearts from the enamel shapes pack, and stamped the little moments phrase from the clear stamp set.

If you would like to get your hands on your own stash of the new ‘Bohemian Dream’ collection, you can find it in the Cocoa Vanilla Studio store HERE

Thanks for stopping by today so I could share this with you. I will be back in a couple of weeks time with another project. Until then, happy scrapping!

You-nique | Bohemian Dream layout | Sue Plumb

By | 2017-10-21T00:27:03+00:00 October 21st, 2017|Bohemian Dream, Design Team, Inspiration|

Hi everyone!

It’s Sue Plumb here today and I am very excited to be sharing my first layout using the gorgeous new ‘Bohemian Dream’ collection (which is now available in the Cocoa Vanilla store!) This range is just SO delicious and dreamy. It features stunning florals and a divine colour palette, including a beautiful shade of purple. (I have to admit, I have never really been a purple fan, but I totally love this one!)

I am sure you have seen the newest products that have been added to the Cocoa Vanilla range with this collection – 6×6″ paper pad, chipboard titles and stamps. I was determined to make sure I included some of each on my project, and I also thought it would be fun to create a boy themed page too.

I decided to create a page combining blues and purples to showcase these cute photos of my son in his new glasses. I started with the Wild & Free paper as my base; first adding some light swipes of gesso with a brush, and then using one of the new clear stamps (a rough “brush stroke”) with some purple ink to help define the focal areas of my design. I also added some light splatters of purple watercolour and indigo mist around my page.

Next, I created a layered mat for my photo using some of the Abundant and Gypsy Heart papers, as well as pieces of the miniature Abstract and Dreamer papers from the 6×6″ paper pad. Tucked in amongst my layers was also a tab and a mini pennant from the die cut ephemera pack and some messy cotton thread for texture.

Next, I took the Boho Bits cut apart paper and cut out the purple smile quote and also the purple bird. I placed the quote card alongside the right side of my photo (such a gorgeous quote!) To the left side of my photo I created a cluster using the fussy cut bird, some branches from the vellum accents pack and I topped it off with one of the coordinating flair buttons

Below the quote, I added a couple of die cut feathers from the ephemera pack, and a small heart from the chipboard accent stickers sheet. In the bottom right corner of my page where I had stamped the brush strokes, I layered a couple of small die cut labels and then stamped the date on the top one.

I used the same purple watercolour I had splattered around my background to add some colour to my title. I used two of the chipboard title stickers (you and unique) and trimmed the unique so I could spell out you-nique. These titles are such a great addition to the product range and I was really happy with how well they took the watercolour.

To finish off my layout I used the hello you stamp from the stamp set to stamp in a few random places around my page with navy ink; and then I added my handwritten journaling and I was done.

Thanks for stopping by today so I could share this with you. If you haven’t got your hands on any of the ‘Bohemian Dream’ collection, then head over to the store HERE and grab some for yourself! (It’s even better in person than it looks on the screen!!)

Until next time, happy scrapping!

Boys Rule | You Rock layout | Sue Plumb

By | 2017-10-03T01:42:40+00:00 October 7th, 2017|Design Team, Inspiration, You ROCK|

Hi everyone! Sue here with you today to share my latest boy layout using the awesome ‘You Rock’ collection. This page features a photo of my boys that really doesn’t have any deep or meaningful significance. It was simply one of those everyday moments. You know the ones – when you turn your camera towards your children and fire off a quick snap just to capture them as they are. And as important as it is to capture milestones and memorable events, I think it’s equally important to just capture moments like this.

I decided to create a mixed media based page for this one. I started with white cardstock and applied some layers – blue watercolour; colour paste through a stencil; then some stamping. With all the mediums applied to my background, it was time to turn my attention to my ‘You Rock’ stash.

I gathered up some papers to create a layered mat for my photo. I used pieces cut from the In LineGalactic; and Night Sky papers; which I topped with some frayed gauze and a frame from the chipboard accents sticker sheet. To get the best use of the frame, I cut it in half and tucked the two halves on either side of my mounted photo.

Now it was time to turn to the embellishments. I fussy cut a few stars from the Starshine paper, which I placed to form a visual triangle around my photo. Next, I added stickers from the accessory sticker sheet – the large starburst label above my photo; a small label tucked into the layers behind my photo; and a small banner beneath my photo. I also added the rad and you rock phrase stickers.

On the left side of the chipboard frame, I added some messy grey cotton thread, topped with a flair button; whilst below the photo I added the navy awesome label from the die cut ephemera pack to compliment the you rock sticker I had already placed there.

To finish off my page, I added small torn pieces of a couple of the washi tape stickers to add further depth to the layers surrounding my photo. I also added some splatters of black mist and stamped the date.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today so I could share this with you. I will be back again in a couple of weeks time with another project to share. Until then, happy scrapping!

5 | You Rock layout | Sue Plumb

By | 2017-09-24T11:54:58+00:00 September 29th, 2017|Design Team, Inspiration, You ROCK|

Hi everyone! It’s Sue here today to share my latest design team page with you using the fabulous ‘You Rock’ collection. I am still loving creating pages with this collection – with it’s bright colours and bold patterns, it’s perfect for photos of my twin terrors! Just like this snapshot from their 5th birthday a few months ago. We always have two cakes on their birthday – this year they asked for their favourite Transformers. (Just because they share the same birthday shouldn’t mean they have to share a cake too, right?!)

I started this page with a sheet of white cardstock as my base. I already had a basic design in mind, which I knew was going to be quite busy with many colours and patterns, so the white background provided the viewer’s eye a place to rest.

I added torn pieces of the ‘Plus One‘ paper to the top and bottom of my page, which I overlaid with a colourful striped piece from the ‘Stripped‘ paper.

I used a variety of papers for the layers under my photo – ‘Galactic‘; ‘Night Sky‘; ‘In Line‘ and ‘Random‘. I added in some torn pieces of washi tape sticker; red paper doily and some messy cotton thread as well.

The card with the jumbled numbers was cut from the ‘Random’ paper and I used it as my title card by simply outlining the 5 with a Sharpie pen and using an arrow from the chipboard accent stickers to highlight it. The wow word piece was from the die cut ephemera pack and I popped it onto some foam tape to mount it a little higher on the card.

Along the bottom of my page, I created a secondary focal point to anchor my journal card, using similar items to the main section of the page. This time I added in a flair button and clustered some enamel shapes nearby.

I then added a few extra enamel shapes around my page, as well as some phrase stickers from the accessory sticker sheet.

To finish off, I added some happy birthday themed stamping around my page and some splatters of black mist.

Thanks for stopping by today so I could share this with you. I will be back again soon with another project. Until then, happy scrapping!

LOVE YOU | Wild at Heart layout | Sue Plumb

By | 2017-09-18T11:46:00+00:00 September 19th, 2017|Design Team, Inspiration, Wild at Heart|

Hi everyone! Sue Plumb here with my latest design team project to share with you. This week we are focusing on the theme ‘Hearts & Flowers’ on the blog, so today I have a layout featuring the beautiful ‘Wild at Heart’ collection, and a photo of me with my three children. (All looking in the same direction AND smiling – it’s a photographic miracle! haha)

Knowing in my head that I wanted to add some mixed media to my creation, I started my layout with a sheet of white cardstock, then added vertical strips of both the ‘Bohemian’ and ‘Patchwork’ papers to define the focal area of my page.

I then added a mat for my photo cut from the beautiful marbled print side of the ‘Grow Wild’ paper and some frayed gauze for subtle texture.

Next, I took a sheet of the gorgeous floral ‘Memento’ paper and fussy cut several large floral pieces from it. I used these to tuck around my photo, and also to create anchor points in two of the diagonally opposing corners. This helped bring balance and flow to my design. I then used some soft pink watercolour paint to highlight and extend on each of the floral pieces, plus add some soft splatters around my page.

For the cluster in the bottom right corner, I topped the floral piece with one of the rubber charms and a small heart from the chipboard accent stickers sheet. For the top left cluster, I added a small heart from the die cut ephemera pack. I also added a sentiment from the ephemera pack directly onto my photo.

I used the large love you from the chipboard accent stickers as my layout title, adhering it directly below my photo and emphasising it with a die cut ephemera frame that I cut into pieces.

To finish off, I added a beautiful butterfly from the ephemera pack and then I left it at that. I was really happy with the soft, understated result of this page.

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today so I could share this with you. I will be back in a couple of weeks with another project to share. Until then, happy scrapping!
