Sue is a stay at home mum of 3 (daughter Brielle, 8 and twin sons Hunter and Kaden, 3) and lives in the beautiful Glasshouse Mountains in Queensland.
Sue has been scrapping for approximately 8 years, having started shortly after her daughter was born. After the premature birth of her sons, she took 18 months off scrapping to concentrate on family and since her return says she is enjoying it more than ever. (Her biggest issue now is finding quiet time!)
She currently designs for challenge blogs, and has had work published in scrapbooking magazines on numerous occasions, including the cover.
Although primarily a 12×12 scrapper, she says she loves to dabble a bit with pocket style scrapping, art journaling, and the odd canvas and card too. She best describes her style as "versatile" - ranging from clean and linear one day, to messy mixed media the next.
Hi everyone! It’s Sue here with you today to share another layout using the new Wild at Heart collection. For anyone that has been trying to get their hands on this range, you will be happy to hear that the second shipment of this collection was sent to retailers last week, so it should be hitting shelves near you very soon (if it hasn’t already).
For my layout today, I opted to focus on the rich, warm tones from the collection and combine them with some photos of my daughter snuggling our kitten. (We’ve had fish and birds before, but this has been her first furry pet that she can cuddle, so to say she loves him is probably an understatement.)
I used the B sides of the Fussy Cut and Luscious papers for my background. I love the contrast of the bold stripes against the soft ombre watercolour.
I used two smaller size (3×4″) photos for this page, which I layered on top of a paper doily and mounted up higher using some cardboard underneath. I then added some messy cotton thread and fussy cut floral pieces from the Luscious paper which I tucked under and around my photos.
I created a small, layered cluster to the right of my photos using half a chipboard frame; a die cut heart from the ephemera pack; a flair button and some Sparkles enamel dots. Under the corner of the photo I tucked a small butterfly that I fussy cut from the Mariposa paper.
I added another identical butterfly slightly further down my page, and between the two I placed one of the super cute new rubber charms. For my layout title, I used two wood veneer words, which I coloured using a paint pen; along with a small heart. Directly below my title I added one of the small phrase stickers from the accessory sticker sheet.
Next, I fussy cut “hello gorgeous” from the Fussy Cuts paper, and adhered it overlapping the edge of my secondary photo. I then added a heart chipboard sticker and another enamel dot to help balance my left hand side embellishment cluster. I finished off my page by splattering some white ink around. (Just don’t forget to cover your photos when you do this.)
Thanks for stopping by today so I could share this with you. I will be back in a couple of weeks with another project. Until then, happy scrapping!
Hi everyone! I am here today to share my latest layout using the fabulous new release Wild at Heart collection. I am seriously crushing on this collection. It’s full of rich, gorgeous tones and (as always) there is an amazing variety of coordinating embellishments. This page was designed to showcase some specific embellishments from the collection – the chipboard stickers and the new chipboard frames.
I wanted to combine a variety of contrasting papers from the collection, and managed to use SIX different patterns on this page! I love that there is such a huge range of patterns to choose from in this collection with the increased number of papers. (Because when it comes down to it, it’s allll about the paper, right?)
I created this cluster at the top of my layout using two chipboard stickers for the title, along with a heart that I cut from the Fussy Cuts cut apart paper, a chipboard sticker heart, and one of the Sparkles enamel dots.
I included another chipboard sticker heart and more enamel dots in the corner of my photo. (I love embellishing in the negative space on my photos.) You can also see how I have layered several contrasting patterned papers behind my photo, along with a paper doily.
I made a feature of the chipboard frames by layering them under and around my photo, and stamped the date directly onto the date frame using Staz-On ink. I also used a couple of the small phrase arrows from the chipboard stickers pack to help draw the eye into the photo.
I added a couple of the tiny phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet directly onto one of the frames, as well as the stunning butterfly flair button which I nested on some messy thread.(And a couple more of the Sparkles enamel dots – because you can never have too much sparkle, right?)
I love how much dimension this layout has, largely due to the layering of the chipboard frames. (Seriously, I think I need a dozen packs of these frames so I am not tempted to hoard them! haha)
That’s all from me today, thanks for stopping by. The Wild at Heart collection is currently available from selected retailers (who were able to get their hands on the first shipment) but the good news is that it will be more widely available soon. If you have the chance to grab some, then do – it really is STUNNING!
Sue here with you today to share my very first layout using the new Wild at Heart collection. I am IN LOVE with this collection, it really is even more stunning in person than it appears in photographs! The whole collection boasts such beautiful tones, and add to that the floral and watercolour elements, plus a heap of gorgeous butterflies…let’s just say making the first cut into any of it was hard! 😉
I DID manage to cut into it though, and I paired it with a couple of selfies I took of my daughter and I together recently just before we went to the theatre.
The most difficult part of using any new collection is knowing where to start – there are just so many beautiful things to choose from! I started with the papers I wanted to use for my background. I chose the Double Dot paper and used the B-side for my base sheet. I then used the beautiful blue watercolour side of the Mariposa paper and I tore it (yes – tore!), so I could layer a piece over the top. Along the top edge of this piece, I used one of my border punches to punch out a contrasting decorative strip from the B-side of the Luscious paper.
I used two frames from the new chipboard frames pack to frame the photos I wanted to use and set them aside. I then created a layered mat to mount them on using more of the Luscious paper, along with some of the navy floral vellum sheet and a paper doily from my stash.
I added some fussy-cut floral pieces from the Luscious paper that I used around my page. I nested one of the coordinating flair buttons on top of one of them, along with some messy cotton thread for texture. Along the edge of my decorative strip I added a couple of stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet.
For my title “love every minute together”, I used two pieces from the cut apart Fussy Cuts paper. I also cut the large butterfly from the same sheet. (I love the butterflies in this collection SO much!)
In the bottom corner of my layout I added a few phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet; another butterfly (this one is from the Die Cut Ephemera pack); some more cotton thread and a few Sparkles glitter enamel dots.
To finish off my layout I stamped the date and added a few splatters of navy mist.
Thanks for stopping by today so I could share this with you. I will be back in a couple of weeks with another project for you. Until then, happy scrapping!
** Please note – due to unprecedented demand for the Wild at Heart collection, the first shipment was sold out in record time, so it is currently only available from selected retailers. A second shipment is already on the way, and once it arrives the collection will be more widely available from our retailers. (We will keep everyone updated with news of this via our Facebook page.) **
Hi everyone! I can’t believe it’s my first share of February already?! (Where did January go?) Being Valentine’s Day in only one weeks time, the team at Cocoa Vanilla Studio are celebrating with some love themed layouts to get you in the mood. And what could be more appropriate than a layout featuring the beautiful ‘Love Always’ collection, which celebrates all things romantic. This page also features one of my loves – my partner.
Given that this photo was taken in a garden, my goal when I created this layout was to create a page that incorporated some of the floral elements from the collection, whilst still maintaining enough of a masculine edge. I achieved this by using the Bouquet paper as a background sheet, and then sewing a square of the Lovely Things paper over the top, which left only a narrow border visible.
I added some subtle mixed media to my background (I used a mica powder applied with a waterbrush) to grunge it up a bit. I also decided that I wanted to make good use of the Lovely Things cut apart paper for this page, so I incorporated a variety of pieces into the layers under my photo, along with a piece of the reverse side of the Bouquet paper. Tucked into my layers was also a doily from the vellum accents pack.
I fussy cut a variety of elements to use around my page from the cut apart paper – the geo heart; floral accent piece under the side of my photo; and my title you had me at hello were all cut from the same sheet of paper.
To tie in with the stitching, I also included some small bunches of messy cotton thread around my page; and on top of one of them I nested one of the coordinating flair buttons. After that, it was simply a matter of adding some stamping and a few splatters of black mist and my page was complete.
Thank you for stopping by today so I could share this with you. If you are looking for the perfect collection to scrap photos of your own valentine, then the Love Always collection is available in the Cocoa Vanilla Studio store now; or alternatively you can ask for it from your favourite scrappy retailer.
Before we launch into a brand new month with our new design team tomorrow, we thought we should formally introduce our new members so you can learn a little about them all.
My name is Bea Valint and I’m from Hungary, a little country in middle Europe… we have pretty hot summers, spicy foods, and a difficult history. I was a former economist but now I’am a stay-at-home-working-mum to 4 adorable kids, three sporty boys and a 6 years old little girl, Kitti. I always have been a creative person never stop with making home decorations, paper crafts and DIY projects. Happiness ebbs and flows through our lives and I want to capture these unforgettable moments of joy by documenting it so that I can relive those precious moments from time to time.
Regarding scrapbooking, I started off with learning photography and creating PL albums for my family and finally fell in love with creating layouts in the early of 2012. What I love the most about scrapbooking is the freedom to express myself… and making mini books or scrapbook pages is also really fun, don’t you think?
My craft room is always open… I create things together with my kids, sometimes friends, but never with my husband… he just enjoys the results.
Hi there! My name is Elodie Lusseau and I am 34 year old. I live in a little village by the sea in the West of France with my soulmate, our two daughters, aged 9 and 5, and our Frenchie. I discovered scrapbooking 5 years ago and I’ve been passionate about it ever since. I make 12×12 and 8.5×11 layouts as well as cards. I would describe my style as imaginative and girly and I love adding dimension to my projects. I’ve got a thing for florals and pink and I’m a real paper freak. You can never have too much paper, right?! I am really thrilled to be joining the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Design Team! Thank you so much for having me, Zoe!
I live in country Victoria and share my home with my amazing parents and my son, Zack (who you’ll see in almost all of my layouts).
During the day I work full-time as a Project Manager for a signage company and most nights you’ll find me sitting in my craft room, listening to 80’s music (no laughing!) and creating something…or maybe on the computer surfing Pinterest… I’ve been scrapbooking for not quite 6 years but I can honestly say I can’t imagine not spending my time in this craft/hobby; it truly makes me happy.
Outside of crafting I have a huge love of (not necessarily in order) coffee, reading, Pinterest, long drives, Sunday markets, singing loudly (completely out of tune), taking photos and most importantly my family! Oh, did I mention I love coffee? And donuts. Preferably together.
Hi there, I’m Gwen Wruck, I live on the beautiful Gold Coast in Queensland with my hubby who happens to be a pro-photographer and daughter Caitlin – the most photographed child on the planet!!
I started scrapping in 1998 and still absolutely love it and do so everyday. I also enjoy making cards for my friends and family. I have worked on many design teams and love showcasing products, sharing ideas and connecting with the scrap community both on-line and locally. I have enjoyed having layouts published in Scrapbooking Memories and am thrilled to be a Scrapbooking Memories Master for 2017. I am also a frequent contributor to Australian Card Making and Paper-craft Magazine.
I adore paper and layering it up and have quite an eclectic feel to my designs. My pages are embellishment heavy – generally clusters and most definitely have a “pretty” feel to them. I love chipboard, layers and flowers and almost always include sewing on my pages. I love working with 2 or 3 colours in my designs and these will generally be quite feminine. I find my designs are linear and rarely feature circles. I am super excited to be part of the Cocoa Vanilla team and look forward to sharing inspiration with you all!
Hi, My name is Lauren Hender and I live on the beautiful Mid North Coast of NSW in the small town of Taree, Australia. I am mother of two, cool step mum to one and working full time in community services sector. I am so excited about 2017 as I have made some promises to myself, that being make time to peruse my passion of photography, to be mindful about having a healthy body and mind, and to push myself creatively through my love of scrapbooking. Being apart of the Cocoa Vanilla Studio team is kick starting my creative 2017 and I am so excited about working for this amazing Australian company.
My name is Lina and I am a scrap-a-holic…LOL!
I am simply an every and anything paper lover. I have been papercrafting since I was a child and scrapbooking for about 12 or 13 years now. Needless to say, I am addicted! If I had to label my style, I would classify it as eclectic. My style is totally dependent on my mood. Sometimes my style is girly and pretty and sometimes it is clean lined and minimalistic. A couple things are true of my style however, and that is that I love colour and clean lines.
I am happily married to the love of my life and am mom to two of the most wonderful little girls. Life is good and I am blessed beyond measure!
I live on the beautiful Central Coast of New South Wales. I’m married to Andrew, and we have three kids, Abigail (12 years), Isaac (9 years), and Eleanor (2 years).
I’ve been scrapbooking for about 12 years, since my oldest was a baby, and I enjoy it now more than ever! I love preserving my family’s precious memories and I equally love the creative outlet that scrapbooking provides! I mostly like to create 12×12 layouts, but I’m always excited to try new things. In 2016 I ventured into the world of traveler’s notebooks and I’m loving creating in this format as well. I think my style could best be described as clean and layered with lots of colour.
I absolutely love Cocoa Vanilla Studio products, and I feel incredibly lucky to be on their design team!
I’m a 30 something crafty Mum of one, based in the outskirts of Geelong Victoria. I work part time in a Pharmacy, but would much prefer being home to snuggle Leila, drinking ALL the coffee and creating till my hearts content! I’ve been obsessed with scrapbooking for nearly 10 years, thanks to my scrappin’ bestie, dabbling in many different areas of the craft from mixed media to Project Life. I love to create layouts featuring layers of pretty papers and embellishments, machine stitching, cut files and more often than not, a splattering of mist.
I’m Missy Whidden and I’ve lived in Central Florida my entire life. I’ve been married to Marshall for over 16 years, but we’ve been together for over 22. We have two sweet little girls, Reese (10) and Paige (7). They are both autistic and nonverbal so our life is never boring. They have taught us so much and they are very happy children. They are the light of our lives and they make us laugh constantly. When I’m not scrapping, I’m a fitness instructor. I teach six classes a week. Before having children, I taught high school English.
I’ve always been interested in art and playing with paper and stickers. I began scrapbooking just before Reese was born in 2006. I was hooked instantly! My style has changed quite a bit. Back then I just used paper, stickers, and deco scissors. Over the years I discovered die cutting tools and mixed media products. I love using watercolors, my Cameo, and my sewing machine on most of my projects. I usually scrap photos of my kids or my family. Scrapbooking is my calming therapy and helps me to relax. I try and do something scrappy related every day, and I just love it dearly. I also love reading and catching up on my favorite TV shows.
Hi everyone, my name is Ulrike Dold but everybody calls me Ulli. I am 36 years old and I live with my husband, our little daugther (2.5 years) and our baby boy (7 months) near Stuttgart / Germany. I am a passionate scrapbooker and memory keeper. I’ve been scrapbooking since 2010 and I love it so much! Working with our family photos and pretty scrapbook supplies to keep our little and big moments in life makes me happy.
I do 12×12 and 8.5×11 layouts, monthly project life and I love making mini books. Big picture layouts are also a great passion of mine. I would describe my scrapbooking style as playful and light. I often work with white backgrounds and I love to play with beautiful and colorful embellishments and papers.
