One of a Kind | Bohemian Dream | Michelle Stokes

By | 2017-09-18T12:15:40+00:00 September 11th, 2017|Bohemian Dream, Design Team, Inspiration|

Hello Hello! It’s Michelle here today to kickstart a new week of Inspiration featuring all things STICKERS. We’re talking accessory stickers, chipboard stickers, alpha stickers and even washi tape stickers. I’d even consider the sweet enamel shapes as stickers – they are sticky lol

For my layout share today I’ve used the amazing new collection Bohemian Dream. If you’re a follower of our Facebook page and Community group you would have seen the MOUNTAIN of boxes in a shipment that Zoe has just received. It has arrived! WOO HOO. It may take some time for it to load into the store, so for now you can drool all over the prettiness shared here ūüėČ

This collection is absolutely STUNNING, and has absolutely surpassed my obsession for the Make a Wish collection. I’m loving the bright pops of colour, mixed with soft water colours and darker prints. The sweet floral designs are perfectly pretty and those hearts…. so cute! I’ve chosen the photo of Leila purely for the colour of her shirt that ties in with the colours of the collection.

I’ve created a grid style layout using a selection of papers from the 6×6 paper pad. I cut 2x2inch squares and arranged them randomly before sewing around or through each individual square.

I backed my photo with another 6×6 pattern paper, the 6×6 version of the Abstract paper that I’d cut into 2 triangles for a different project but didn’t use. I layered the photo into the corners of the paper and cropped the excess off. I also layered a cut apart piece behind and an accessory sticker before raising it up with some foam for dimension.

Now I’m not sure about everyone else, but I consider my Accessory sticker sheets an extension to my die cut ephemera packs. They’re perfect for layering in clusters and adding a finishing tough to empty spaces, and sometimes even being used for Title work. So many sweet sentiments and those chipboard stickers give some great dimension to a page!

With all this in mind my next task was to create a large cluster with as many stickers as I could, without over doing it. I used the “One of a Kind” piece from the sticker sheet as my title for the layout, and raised it with some foam tape to make it stand out more. Tucked in under and around this are more accessory stickers, a large floral chipboard sticker, a couple of chipboard sticker hearts, enamel dots and some ephemera pieces.

Once I was comfortable with the main cluster, I worked on all the mini clusters using more Accessory stickers and enamel dots. I selected random squares to fill within a visual triangle to create an even flow of embellishments in an already busy background. I also added in a few ephemera pieces to compliment the added colours and stickers.

All of the little word stickers and strips are perfect for documenting a ‘just because’ layout of Leila, with each one singing out sweet little sentiments I want her to remember in years to come.

Thats all from me today. I hope this has given you some inspiration to go crazy with stickers! I know it has for me ūüôā

Until Next time, Happy Scrapping!

Hello | Wild at Heart | Michelle Stokes

By | 2017-08-22T22:46:12+00:00 August 25th, 2017|Design Team, Inspiration, Wild at Heart|

Hello Scrappy Friends! It’s Michelle back here today with a new layout as part of our focus this week on Colours. Theres been a fantastic assortment of awesome creations from the other DT members featuring a rainbow of colours. This can easily be ¬†achieved when mixing multiple Cocoa Vanilla Studio collections together, but for today I’ve stuck mainly with one collection and added just a sprinkling of extras from a few others.

Apart from the super cute photo for Inspiration, the layout idea was formed around the spotted Double Dot paper within the Wild at Heart collection. Full of messy splotches of colour I drew on the ‘rough’ circular design by cutting circles in differing sizes, both full and outlines of circles, from this paper and the B side of Patchwork. I then added to the circular design by adding chipboard, flair and enamel dots from the collection, some Woodies from the Endless Summer & Totally Rad collections and lastly some enamel dots from the Made of Awesome collection

Scrapping yet another cute photo of Leila, using Snapchat and a cute Bunny filter, I based the layout on the colours within the photo. Pink tones from the ears and her jumper and the blue of her eyes. All the colours that I find inspire me the most!

I kept the top clusters pretty simple by layering the circles randomly, adding a mixture of embellishments to balance out the colours and sizes of circles. For this cluster I’ve used a flair button, stickers and die cut ephemera pieces, a woodie from the Totally Rad collection plus enamel dots…

and in this one over on the right hand side I simply added some twine, stickers and chipboard plus the enamel dots.

Along the bottom cluster I’ve layered the circles randomly again with more stickers, ephemera, twine, woodies and enamel dots. In all of the clusters I’ve raised the larger circle of the group with some foam tape for dimension.

Lastly I created the title using Chipboard pieces, layered some embellishments around the bottom right corner of the photo, added a couple lines of typed journalling then some splatters of gold Color shine and it was complete.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope that has given you some inspiration for scrapping with your favourite colours and even circles!

Until next time, Happy Scrapping!

Hello Mister Rad | You Rock | Michelle Stokes

By | 2017-08-08T20:12:00+00:00 August 11th, 2017|Chit Chat, Design Team, Inspiration, You ROCK|

Hello scrappy friends! It’s Michelle back today with a new layout share featuring the fun masculine You ROCK collection. For this layout I’ve actually gone for a full on boy theme, including a fun photo of my sweet Nephew. I really should scrap more photos of him and all the funny faces he makes!

I started the layout by trimming down my cardstock to layer over the “Galactic” paper leaving a thin dark border around 3 edges of the layout. Next I worked on the main focal point of the layout by gathering scraps from previous layouts, arranging them randomly under the photo and cutting a couple of the bottoms into banner/fishtails. The papers used are This Way, Stripped & Night Sky .

To the left of the photo I’ve arranged a few die cuts, stickers and pieces from the “Random” cut apart paper to create layers and my title. I also added in some fussy cut stars from the “Starshine” paper and stapled them down to keep them in place.

As I do with most of my layouts, I’ve raised the photo and its layers up with some foam. I really like the dimension it gives to my layouts and the shadowing does help to make things stand out a little more.

Under all the layers I added some small strips of the fun new decorative Washi Tape. This added a little extra colour where it was needed to help balance the colours around the page. I popped a rubber charm onto the photo and a flair button to the right, layered over a tag sticker from the accessory sticker sheet.

I didn’t want to add too much to the remainder of the layout so I created a simple cluster at the bottom left corner using another fussy cut star, some stickers, die cut pieces from the ephemera pack and then scattered some of the enamel dots around the different clusters to tie it all together.

Lastly a few lines of typed journalling and a splattering of black ink and the layout was complete.

Well, thats all from me today. I hope this has inspired you in some way to get creative with this fun masculine collection.

Until next time, Happy Scrapping!

Adventure Awaits | Wild at Heart | Michelle Stokes

By | 2017-07-23T20:24:04+00:00 July 25th, 2017|Design Team, Inspiration, Wild at Heart|

Hi Everyone, it’s Michelle back here with you today and I’ve got a new layout share featuring the beautiful Wild at Heart collection. The photo I’m documenting is from a little day trip adventure that Leila and I took over the school holidays with fellow DT member Raquel and her daughter Charlotte. ¬†

We took the girls to see Disney on Ice, and ventured into the city on the train. What an adventure it was and the delight on their faces as we approached the train platform was pretty magical. I was able to sneak this quick photo as they skipped along, it was so cute to see.

I started the layout with a large cut title in mind, and browsed the fonts section on my computer to find the right one for the size and space I wanted to fill. I also knew I wanted to add more to the title below using alphabet stickers, and to have the photo sitting top left of the title. I used the Grow Wild paper to back the cut piece and sewed down the alpha stickers from the Endless Summer collection over the lower right side of the word.

I layered a few different pattern papers under the photo, including a banner cut piece of Patchwork paper, which is my favourite shade of pink! Tucked into and around the layers I’ve added pieces from the Die cut ephemera pack, stickers from the Accessory sticker sheet, a doily from my stash and popped the entire piece up off the page using some foam sheeting for dimension. I also added some thread to the tag tucked into the layers.

The large butterfly was cut from the Fussy Cuts paper and popped up of the page with some foam tape. I’ve done the same with the ephemera piece tucked under the photo.

I added a few die cut pieces and stickers to the top right of the page to fill in some white space and to give balance to the layout. Then lastly I added splatters of pink ink around the layout and added a few glitter enamel dots to finish it all off.

Thats all from me today, thanks so much for stopping by.
Until next time, Happy Scrapping

Hello Sunshine | Endless Summer | Michelle Stokes

By | 2017-07-09T16:22:27+00:00 July 11th, 2017|Cut Files, Design Team, Endless Summer|

Hi Everyone! It’s Michelle here today with a new layout share using the beautiful Endless Summer collection. The soft sweet pastel colours in this collection remind me of summer which makes it perfect for the Summer theme were focusing on this week.

I’ve gone back in time and scrapped a cute photo of Leila from 2013, when we enjoyed the warmer months a lot more. It certainly warms my heart to look back on the memories we created in our old backyard, especially this time of year when its freezing cold.

I kept the layout design quite simple, using a strip of COASTAL CHILL paper across the background, then built the title and photo mat layers up across the same horizontal line to give the layout some dimension. I created clusters top right of the layout and bottom left of the photo to draw the eyes attention across the page and finished it all off with a sprinkling of gold ink.

Here’s some close ups…

This was a fun cluster to begin with, as it uses a mix of all my favourite embellishments from the collection. To create it I’ve used pieces from the¬†THIS & THAT¬†cut apart paper, and raised up the pink doily piece with foam tape. The clouds are from the wood Veneers pack and are a super cute addition to the collection. The other items used are the¬†enamel shapes,¬†woodies & blooms

Under the photo mat I’ve used the reverse side of the COASTAL CHILL paper, along with more cut apart pieces from the THIS & THAT paper. I also included an off cut of the pink doily used in the cluster at the top of the page and some accessory stickers tucked under the bottom of the photo and into the top of the floral cluster.

I added a hint of glitter to the flowers from the Blooms pack, but its really hard to see in these photos. I’ve included more items into this cluster that are in the top cluster, to help balance the layout.

I’ve used one of the FREE cut files to create the title using the woodgrain side of the SWEET TREATS paper and raised it up off the page using foam tape to help it stand out a little more. I also included a piece from the ephemera pack¬†and added my¬†typed journalling in the blank space below.

The Free cut files are pretty cool, and can be found on the website HERE

Thats all from me today, I hope this has inspired you in some way to get those Summer photos documented.

Until Next time, Happy Scrapping!

Happy Birthday | Make a Wish | Michelle Stokes

By | 2017-07-09T15:08:19+00:00 June 25th, 2017|Chit Chat|

Hi Everyone, It’s Michelle back here today with a new layout Inspired by my impending birthday LOL I’ve used the oh so¬†sweet Make a Wish collection and a super cute photo of Leila from her 1st birthday back in 2011. I couldn’t settle on one of my own birthday photos and Leila looks way cuter than I do anyway!!

This ended up being a super quick layout to put together, apart from the fussy cutting of the letters for the title, and a few extra pieces I had cut out that didn’t make the layout. I started with the title in mind, using random letters from the words on the Loot Bag paper, combined with the ‘happy’ word from the wood veneer set in the Love Always collection.

I’ve added foam tape under the thicker parts of the letters to lift them off the page, giving them dimension and making them stand out a little more.

I centred the photo in the top half of the layout and layered papers Party Dots & the pink side of Hip Hooray under the photo with a doily from my stash. I also added the sequin bow from the Bits & pieces pack for a little added sparkle, because who doesn’t love sparkle!

Along the bottom of the layout I’ve used strips of the Daydream & Fresh Cut papers to act as a base for my Cake stand cluster. The floral design on the Daydream paper is by far my favourite of any Cocoa Vanilla Studio papers, and reminds me of a delicate tablecloth. Perfect to place a cake stand onto. The cake stand design can be found on the Party Mix cut apart paper, along with the Celebrate banner. ¬†I added ‘decorations’ to the cake in the form of a wood veneer heart a glitter dot and a die cut heart. Next to the cake I’ve added some Bitty Blooms along with a chipboard accent sticker.

Lastly the top cluster on the layout made with items from the ephemera pack, a couple more pieces from the Bits & Pieces pack, glitter dot & sticker, plus a flair button and another wood veneer heart to balance out the veneer across the layout. You can also see a close up of the ‘love this’ tab sticker and ticket that are poking out between the layers under the photo.

After the layout was complete I added my journalling and a few splatters of ink, that as usual went a little haywire in places. It almost always goes a little haywire at splatter time lol

Well thats all from me today! Thanks so much for stopping by to check out my layout Inspiration. I hope its Inspired you in some way.

Until Next time, Happy Scrapping!

Star of the Week | You Rock | Michelle Stokes

By | 2017-06-08T18:07:08+00:00 June 11th, 2017|Chit Chat, Design Team, You ROCK|

Hello fellow Scrappers, It’s Michelle here¬†today with a¬†new¬†layout share featuring the awesome You Rock collection. This week on the blog we are focusing on scrap lifting again and I’ve¬†challenged myself to scrap a layout Inspired by Missy. Now I’m no mixed media extraordinaire, so I’ve done my best by choosing products Inspired by her style to recreate the layout made.

Here’s the layout I’ve created, celebrating a new milestone for Leila at school – being awarded Star of the Week!!

Which was inspired by this creation by Missy…

I’ve followed along with a similar design concept by using a massive text cut file backed with pattern papers as the centrepiece of the layout.¬†The cut file I’ve used is from The Cut Shoppe and is perfect for welding together to create large Titles.¬†I’ve backed the entire piece with foam tape to create some dimension.

I’ve used stars in place of flowers to keep with the star theme of the layout, and created clusters with the addition of some wood veneer and ephemera pieces.

I’ve also used 2 photos backed with some tissue paper and some messy thread in multiple places, both a regular addition to Missy’s amazing work.

The main thing I didn’t try to recreate was the watercolored background, as they just never seem to work for me without major warping of the paper lol. Instead I’ve chosen the Experimental pattern paper as it had a similar feel, and splattered it with some black ink.

I kept one of the letters open and placed some cut stars from the Starshine paper under and above for something different and added a Rubber Charms below as the perfect finishing touch to this side of the layout.

I typed my journalling as I didn’t trust myself enough to write on the background. I always fear I’m going to make a major boo boo and have to re-do the whole page again. I thought the white cardstock it was typed on would break up and fill up that dark/empty space.

For this last cluster I’ve layered together pieces from the Die cut Ephemera pack along with a sticker and more of that fun messy thread, plus a wood veneer star and enamel dot.

That’s all from me today, thanks so much for stopping by. I hope my layout for Scrap Lift week has inspired you in some way.

Until next time, Happy Scrapping!

Michelle x
