Hi everyone! Mandy here today, and I’m so excited to be sharing my first layout using the brand new Bohemian Dream collection! I absolutely love this beautiful collection… especially the dreamy colours, and the gorgeous florals! It’s so pretty and feminine! You will have noticed that this week on the blog the design team have all been sharing projects that showcase each of their ‘signature styles’, and today I’ll be wrapping up this feature! I documented a photo of my eldest daughter Abi that I took when she was about 3 1/2 years old… Nearly 10 years ago! I love her beautiful smile in this photo, and the colours worked perfectly with this collection!

I included lots of my go-to techniques on this layout. If you take a look at my past layouts, you’ll notice that they usually include most of these things…

  • White cardstock background
  • Dimension (using foam tape)
  • Embellishment clusters
  • Visual triangles
  • White space
  • Layering
  • Typed journaling

I started my layout off by adding strips of the Abundant patterned paper (both the A-side and the B-side) down the left and right hand sides of the layout. I think this is probably my favourite paper in the collection… I can’t go past a good floral! I used a border punch to add some detail to the strips. I then added some layers behind behind my photo using the Dreamer and the Gypsy Heart patterned papers (both reverse sides), as well as a die cut frame, and a doily from my stash. I also added some foam tape underneath the photo to lift it up and give it some dimension!

I created a pretty floral cluster on the bottom left hand corner of the photo using flowers from the die cut ephemera pack. How pretty are these colours?!! I used a word from the chipboard sticker sheet as the title for my layout, and layered this on top of the flowers. I also tucked a flair button into the cluster as well.

I created a smaller cluster down in the bottom right hand corner of the page to balance out the heaviness in the top half of the layout. This one includes both die cuts and vellum accents.

To create a third point of interest on the layout, I tucked a die cut tab and a vellum flower under the right hand side of the photo. You can also see here that I added a sticker and a strip of typed journaling underneath the photo.

I finished the layout off with a few enamel hearts and some stamping using the gorgeous new clear stamp set.

Thanks so much for joining me on the blog today! I hope that you enjoyed taking a look at my layout and you’ve been inspired to have a play with the beautiful ‘Bohemian Dream’ collection!

Dyan | You ROCK | Mandy Melville

By | 2017-09-27T20:32:52+00:00 October 1st, 2017|Design Team, Inspiration, You ROCK|

Hey CVS friends!

Mandy here today, and I have a traveler’s notebook spread to share with you using the You ROCK collection! I started documenting in a traveler’s notebook about a year ago, and I’m completely hooked on this format! I certainly don’t have any plans of giving up on scrapbooking 12×12 layouts, but I love the versatility of a notebook, and how quick and easy it is to put together a spread! So I’m enjoying using both formats for my scrapbooking!

On this spread I documented a photo of myself with the lovely Dyan Reaveley! A couple of weekends ago she was teaching at the scrapbook store where I work, and so I was able to attend a class with her, as well as a retailer day. She was an amazing teacher, and I had so much fun getting messy and learning some new techniques with her inks!

The bright and bold colours in the You Rock collection were perfect for this photo, and by picking out some non-boy themed embellishments from the collection, I was able to make it work for this feminine page!

I covered the left hand side of the spread with the Starshine patterned paper, and then added my photo to this page. I matted my photo with black cardstock to help it to really pop off the page! I added my title above the photo using the Colour Me Happy Black Alphabet Stickers. I like how the pops of black provide a nice contrast to the bright colours.

On the bottom right hand corner of the photo I added a chipboard sticker from the You Rock collection. Before I stuck it down I peeled some of the layers off the chipboard to make it a bit thinner so that it wouldn’t be too bulky in my notebook insert. In the bottom left hand corner of the page I added two of the little phrase stickers from the accessory sticker sheet. I stuck these onto a piece of white cardstock, and then drew a messy border around them to help them to stand out.

I covered the right hand side of the spread with the Experimental patterned paper. I love the mixed media look of this paper, and it was perfect for this page! To create the journaling spot I traced around my roll of foam tape a few times, and then hand-drew the journaling lines. I also painted a few of the little wood veneer plus signs with black ink and added them to the page.

I love these phrases that I cut out of the Random patterned paper, because they describe Dyan perfectly! Underneath them I added a little arrow chipboard sticker, which adds a little pop of yellow to the right hand page.

If you’d like to see out how this spread came together, you can check out my process video!

Thanks so much for joining me on the blog today! I hope that you enjoyed taking a look at my traveler’s notebook spread! I’ll be back later in the month with another project to share with you!

Beautiful Moments | Wild at Heart | Mandy Melville

By | 2017-09-12T20:22:39+00:00 September 15th, 2017|Design Team, Inspiration, Wild at Heart|

Hi CVS friends! Mandy back with you today to share my latest layout using the beautiful Wild at Heart collection! As you would have noticed, the theme this week on the blog is STICKERS!! Who doesn’t love using stickers on their projects?! I love the range of stickers that’s available from Cocoa Vanilla… From accessory stickers to chipboard stickers to alphabet stickers… There’s certainly plenty to choose from! And I had lots of fun using them on this layout!

I documented a couple of photos that I took recently of my Mum with my youngest daughter. I love the seeing the special relationship that they share, and I think these photos of them together are just so sweet!

I started my layout off by covering the top half of the page with the Momento patterned paper (reverse side). I absolutely love the florals on this paper, and I must admit that I’ve been hoarding it! But it was time to finally get it onto a layout, and I think it worked perfectly with these photos! I also tucked a thin strip of the Patchwork patterned paper (reverse side) under the bottom edge of it, as well as a scallop that I cut out of the Fussy Cuts paper.

To create some dimension on the layout, I raised up the photo on the left with some foam tape and then tucked a chipboard frame underneath it. I also fussy cut some florals out of the gorgeous Luscious patterned paper, and I tucked them underneath the left hand side of the photo. You can also see here that I added a couple of the little word stickers off the accessory sticker sheet. They added the perfect sentiment to the page!

I added another sticker that says ‘precious’ on the bottom right hand corner of this photo. I love layering embellishments both under the edge of my photos, as well as on top!

Underneath the edge of the photo on the right, I tucked a tag. This was also from the accessory sticker sheet. There are so many beautiful stickers on this sheet! I threaded some cotton twine through the hole in the tag, which I think finishes it off nicely and also adds some texture to the page. On top of the tag I added a chipboard sticker, as well as a couple of the cute bitty blooms.

For my title I used one of the lovely wood veneer words combined with some alphabet stickers from the Hello Lovely collection. I painted the wood veneer word with some Glimmer Mist that I’ve had in my stash forever, and I LOVE how this turned out! The colour was perfect, and it looks so pretty and shimmery!

I also have a process video for this layout if you’d like to see how it came together.

Thanks so much for joining me on the blog today! Make sure you stick around for some more ‘sticker inspiration’ from the design team over the weekend!

Sweet Eliza | Love Always | Mandy Melville

By | 2017-09-12T19:24:51+00:00 September 1st, 2017|Design Team, Inspiration, Love Always|

Hi everyone! Mandy here today to share my latest design team layout with you! This time I used the beautiful Love Always collection to document a photo of my beautiful little niece. I adore the pretty pastel colours in this collection, and I think it’s perfect for scrapbooking baby photos!

Here’s my layout…

How sweet is my little niece, Eliza?!! I love being an auntie, and I just adore her so much!!

I wanted this layout to feature a minimalist design, and let me tell you, it was so hard to not add more things to the page! Sometimes I think a minimalist design is harder to achieve than a layout with more on it because you have to be more deliberate about what you add to the page. But I’m so happy with how it turned out, and the soft pinks and greys in the Love Always collection were so perfect for this layout!

The first thing I did was matt my white cardstock background with the reverse side of the Lovely Things patterned paper. I also added some machine stitching around the edge of the white cardstock which adds some subtle texture to the page.

Because I was keeping the embellishing to a minimum on this page, I wanted to add lots of layers behind my photo to create some extra interest. Included in the layers are a couple of patterned papers from the collection, including Note to Self and Frolic (reverse side), as well as a doily from my stash, a scallop die cut from the ephemera pack and a film strip die cut from the Wild at Heart ephemera. I also added some foam tape behind my photo to lift it up off the page and give it some extra dimension.

I tucked a wood veneer flower underneath the left hand side of the photo. I absolutely LOVE the wood veneer pieces in this collection – they’re so beautiful!! I also popped a chipboard sticker on top of the left hand side of the photo. How pretty is the scripty font on that sticker?!

I created my title using a wood veneer word combined with the Love Always Alphabet Stickers. I love how soft and pretty these alphas are!

I finished my layout off by adding a couple of die cut hearts to the page, as well as a bitty bloom. And lastly I added a few grey ink splatters.

Thanks so much for joining me on the blog today! I look forward to sharing another project with you later this month.

I also have a process video for this layout if you’d like to see how it came together.

Love | Wild at Heart | Mandy Melville

By | 2017-08-12T13:24:51+00:00 August 15th, 2017|Design Team, Inspiration, Wild at Heart|

Hi everyone! It’s Mandy here today, and I have a fun layout to share with you that I created using the totally gorgeous Wild at Heart collection! I just love the beautiful colours in this collection, and it’s so perfect for scrapbooking photos of my girls!

This week on the blog we are all sharing layouts that feature multiple photos! Here’s the page that I created:

How super cute are these photos of my two girls! My eldest daughter Abigail recently downloaded an app that puts filters on your photos similar to the ones on snapchat, and she had fun taking some photos with her younger sister, Eleanor. I absolutely love the photos, and of course I had to scrapbook them!

I used the beautiful Artisan patterned paper for my background. I’ve already used this same paper as a background once before, but I just keep coming back to it because I love it so much! I think it made a fun background for these photos! I also added a strip of the Patchwork (reverse side) patterned paper on the left hand side of the page. I stuck it down slightly crooked which added to the fun and carefree feel of the layout.

I fussy cut the word ‘love’ out of the Fussy Cuts patterned paper, and I used this as the title for my layout. I added some foam tape underneath the word which gave it some extra height and dimension.

I created a cluster to the left of the photo that includes a chipboard frame, a couple of die cuts from the ephemera pack, as well as a wood veneer star from the You ROCK collection. To add some extra interest and dimension to the cluster, I layered everything at different heights.

I matted the photo on the right with the Grow Wild (reverse side) patterned paper and then tucked a tab from the accessory sticker sheet underneath the right hand side of the photo. I also added another You ROCK’ wood veneer star to the right of the photos. I think these stars really added a fun element to the page!

To finish the layout off I added a couple more die cut stars and another wood veneer star to the layout, as well as some little phrase stickers from the accessory sticker sheet, and a few sparkly enamel dots.

Thanks so much for joining me here on the blog today! I hope that you’ve been inspired! Stick around this week for lots more multi-photo layout inspiration from the design team!

You Rock | You ROCK | Mandy Melville

By | 2017-07-29T20:53:16+00:00 August 1st, 2017|Design Team, Inspiration, You ROCK|

Hi Cocoa Vanilla Studio fans!

Mandy here with you today to share a layout that I created using the fabulous ‘You ROCK‘ collection! I can’t get enough of the awesome colours in this collection, and I really can’t go past ‘You ROCK’ for documenting photos of my son, Isaac!

Here’s the page that I created…

My layout features a photo of Isaac with our kitten Sasha. We’ve had her for about 7 months now, and I love seeing how much Isaac cares for her! They are so sweet together!

I used the Experimental patterned paper as the background for my layout. I LOVE the artsy / mixed media look that this gives to the page, without having to do any of the work! Lucky I have more than one sheet of this patterned paper, because I also matted my photo with the reverse side of this paper!

I decided to use pieces from the Random cut apart sheet as the main design element on this page. I cut them up and then laid them across the page to create a mat for my photo to sit on. I made sure that they were all a little crooked and not lined up, to give them more of a random look. I also curled up the corners of the cards a little to give them some extra dimension, rather than them just sitting flat on the page.

How awesome are the Cocoa Vanilla rubber charms?! I used the rubber tag on this page, which I tucked under the left hand side of the photo. I also tied a little bit of cotton twine to the tag to finish it off. On top of the tag I added a star which I fussy cut from the Starshine patterned paper.

I can’t go past the wood veneer shapes in this collection, and I love that ‘You Rock’ piece! It made the perfect title for this page! I added some small pieces of foam tape underneath to lift it up and give it some extra dimension, and I love how this makes it really pop off the page!

To the right of the title I added a label sticker, which I stamped the date onto, as well as an arrow chipboard sticker. I added my journaling underneath the title, and then added a few more embellishments in the bottom right hand corner of the page. This little cluster includes another chipboard sticker, as well as another fussy cut star from the Starshine patterned paper.

I finished the layout off with some more stars… a few of the wood veneer ones, more fussy cut ones, as well as a little chipboard one. This adds interest to the layout by using different colours and textures, as well as cohesiveness, by repeating the same shape throughout the layout.

Thanks so much for joining me on the blog today! I’ll be back later in the month with another project to share with you! See you then!

Summer | Endless Summer | Mandy Melville

By | 2017-07-15T08:56:30+00:00 July 15th, 2017|Design Team, Endless Summer, Inspiration|

Hi friends!

Mandy here with you today! Who else is loving all of the gorgeous ‘summer’ inspiration here on the blog this week?! It’s so nice to reminisce about the lovely warm days of summer while it’s the middle of winter here in Australia! Today I’m sharing my summer themed layout with you, featuring the beautiful ‘Endless Summer‘ collection!

I documented a super cute photo of my youngest daughter and my nephew, taken last summer when they were enjoying an ice cream together. These two are so adorable, and they love each other so much! Of course I take every opportunity I can to snap photos of them together!

I used one of the FREE summer cut files that are available to download from the Cocoa Vanilla store!

How awesome are these?! I decided to use the word ‘summer’, and I resized it to create a large title for my layout. I cut it out of my white cardstock background using my Cameo, and then I backed it with the sunbleached patterned paper. I love the wow factor that a large title like this makes on a layout!

I matted my photo with the reverse side of the sweet treats patterned paper, and then I popped some foam tape underneath the photo to give it some extra dimension. I love fussy cutting floral patterned papers, and the Aloha Sunshine paper is just perfect for this! I fussy cut two large floral clusters and tucked one under each side of the photo. I love how this looks with the flowers coming out from behind the photo! Up in the top right hand corner of the layout I added a couple of die cuts from the collection, as well as a cute little woodie button.

On the bottom left hand corner of the photo I added one of the cute puffy stickers from the collection, and I popped another woodie button there as well.

At the bottom of the page I added a banner sticker, which I adhered using foam tape to give it some extra dimension. I added a third woodie here as well, which creates a visual triangle with the other two. I love these cute little wooden buttons! I added my typed journaling underneath the title, and then I finished the layout off with a couple of little heart stickers, some enamel shapes, and lastly some gold ink splatters.

I also have a process video for this layout if you’d like to check it out.

Thanks so much for joining me on the blog today!
