Hello Everyone,

Welcome back to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog. Is everyone loving the free cut files! I know I am absolutely loving them and I am truly amazed by how different everyone’s layouts are when using them. When I saw this title ‘Hello Summer’ I knew the photo I wanted to scrap. This photo is a few years old but I just love how happy my boy is to have some fun after is wrist was broken.

If you are only just finding out about these great free cut flies follow the link below and download yourself a set.

Summer Freebie Cut Files

Is that ‘summer’ font not the best! Love it!

As you can see I have made the cut file in my layout the main focus. Sometimes this can take away  from your photo or the other features on your layout but if the effect that you want is for people to first see the title and then take in the rest of the layout then  having a bold  fab title is the way to go. The ‘Hello Sunshine’ was that for me.

I have created the dimensional effect with my title by cutting two title and adhering them together slightly off centre. To really create the dimensional effect ensure that the bottom cut file is darker then the top. To make it pop a little more I traced the top cut file along all edges of the lettering with a white marker pen.

The collection I have used in this layout is the most recent release titled YOU ROCK. This collection has been created for our boys and the special men in our lives. It full of fun colours, titles, and accents that will work for any all boy occasion.

Find the YOU ROCK collection by clicking HERE

In this layout I have used lots of YOU ROCK goodies including:

Die Cut Ephemera

Flair Buttons

Washi Tape Stickers

Rubber Charms

I hope my layout inspires you to have some fun with the free cut files and check out the new release YOU ROCK collection.

Happy Scrapping

Hello Lovely | CVS Collection Mix | Lauren Hender

By | 2017-07-02T00:08:34+00:00 July 2nd, 2017|Colour Me Happy, Design Team, Free Spirit, Hello Lovely, Love Always, Make A Wish|

Hello and a big welcome back to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog.

What do you get when you add Love Always, Free Spirt, Make A Wish, Hello Lovely and Colour Me Happy together?

An absolutely beautiful layout.

Flicking through all my beautiful Cocoa Vanilla Studio products deciding which collection I would use to scrapbook this photo of my sister and I, I began to pull out pieces of lots of collections and saw it all come together.

This layout came together quite quickly. It started with a double mounted photo and then came the arrangement of embellishments. I used foam mounting tape to create some dimension and some wood veneer to add a different texture.

So here is what I used to create this layout.

Love Always – Cardstock and Accessory Stickers

Free Spirt – Wood Veneer

Make A Wish – Enamel Dots

Hello Lovely – Die Cut Ephemera

Colour Me Happy – Flair Button

The Love Always accessory stickers are fabulous. If you struggle to journal or simply don’t like your handwriting then these stickers are for you.

I was truly blown away by how wonderful all the different collections pieces came together.

If you have any questions about the layout or techniques I have just please leave a comment in the comments section and I will respond to you. Now click HERE and head on over to the shop and grab yourself some beautiful scrapbooking supplies.

Take Care.

My Tornado | You Rock | Lauren Hender

By | 2017-06-13T23:31:50+00:00 June 16th, 2017|Chit Chat, You ROCK|

Hello Everyone!

Welcome back to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog. Today I am sharing with you a scraplift layout.

I always find these challenges fun and I try to push myself to scraplift a design that puts me out of my comfort zone.

The Cocoa Vanilla Studio community page on Facebook is a great place to hang out and find heaps of inspiring layouts to scraplift. Find the CVS Facebook community group HERE

I created this layout using the new YOU ROCK collection of my beautiful son who is now much bigger and still has a great love for basketball.

He is my little (now much bigger) tornado.

The layout I have scraplifted is created by the very talented Raquel Bowman. Isn’t her little girl such a dolly.

As you can see I have used a different collection to scrap with, a portrait instead of horizontal photo, and created a male layout instead of a female one. What this tells us is that no matter the layout, the scrapbooking products you have you can still scraplift a layout and it will still all come together.

Here are some close up of my layout for if you would like to have a go at scraplifting my and Raquel’s layout lol.

Tip Time: If you are a fan of buying the YOU ROCK collection kit (AU $29.95) then don’t throw away the sneak peek card displayed on the front of the kit. It perfectly mounted my 4×6 inch photo in this layout and highlighted a little sneak of the entire collection.

I hope my layout has inspired you to get creative and come on over to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog and scraplift your heart out.

Have a fabulous week.

Let’s get through June | You Rock | Lauren Hender

By | 2017-06-02T09:53:07+00:00 June 2nd, 2017|You ROCK|

Hi Everyone, welcome back to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog and welcome to June. Here in Australia we start to light up fires and pull out the winter jackets. I am sitting here typing with the softest throw rug over my lap and the best hot chocolate, I just love the winter months. For my sporty son this June has turned out to be hectic. For this reason I thought I would help him out and put together a You Rock calendar marking out his commitments.

I have some exciting news!! The You Rock collection is now in available in the Cocoa Vanilla Studio store. So if you haven’t got a local stockist and this collection is a must for you then simply click Here

In this layout I have used the You Rock, wood pieces, ephemera, rubber charms,

enamel accents, washi tape, cardstock, and of course a couple of perfect flairs.

In this layout I have used the washi tape by layering pieces behind my journaling tabs to create a bit of depth.

The washi tape is wonderful. Even on darker cardstock you can clearly see and enjoy the pattern on the washi.

I added some wood accents to create some dimension on the layout.

The wood is lovely quality and the impressions imprinted are clear. The enamel accents are also to die for.

It’s so lovely have a shape other than a dot.

I used a calendar printable and marked all the important dates he needs to remember over the month including my birthday. lol

In the blank spaces I added little features such as washi, rubber charm and enamel crossed.

I just love the result and I hope that it has inspired you to create something a little out of the box.

Thats My Boy | You Rock | Lauren Hender

By | 2017-05-15T21:36:57+00:00 May 16th, 2017|You ROCK|

Hello everyone and welcome to boys week on the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog.

This week you are going to see some fabulous layouts by the design team highlighting our boys and the new release

YOU ROCK collection.

Check out this adorable face that I made.

My original idea with this layout was to only use the black, white and grey elements of this collection. But .. when I saw that super cool orange diagonal stripe washi tape and enamel crosses I couldn’t resist by adding the pop of orange.

I just loved the end result.

The cardstock stickers are a perfect edition to the all boy layout. All the sentiments are fun and scream all boy.

These I thought looks great scattered throughout the layout almost dividing the page.

In the cardstock collection there is a great strips/boarder page. Each of the strips are so useful in dividing a page and adding a feature when only needing a little.

I wanted so bad to put a flair on my layout and the ‘BOOM’ looked so cool.

But where to place it.. Can you help me out.. Where would you place the boom flair on my layout?

I hope you have been inspired to create with this cool collection and remember to stop by the blog each day this week and check all the ALL BOY inspiration.

Hello Mister Rad | You Rock | Lauren Hender

By | 2017-04-29T22:58:11+00:00 April 30th, 2017|You ROCK|

You Rock… what a wonderful collection! I just love everything about it. Each of us have some special men in our lives that we want to celebrate by scrapbooking them and this range will help us do that. The best part is that it’s popping up in retailer stores as we speak so make some phone calls to get your hands on this super cool collection.

Oh no, I have been rude, I’m sorry. I should have started by saying…

Welcome back to the blog, it’s Lauren here and I am going to share with you my very first travellers notebook using You Rock, but I am just too excited.

Not owning a travellers notebook, but desperately wanting to try one out I decided to make my own using patterned paper and some white high gsm uncoated white paper. I also used pretty much an entire ephemera pack, chipboard accents, washi tape, cardstock stickers, rubber charms and a gorgeous flair button. So I guess what I am trying to say is if you are wanting to complete a travellers notebook themed with You Rock then you will need to purchase pretty much the entire collection (you can thank me later lol)

So here it is..

I couldn’t help but have a little mixed media fun. The stickers, washi tape and ephemera pieces made this easy.

TIP: If you are going to do this make sure you test out the white paper you use so that it does not soak through.

This TN is a snapshot of my super cute son over a few years. I love this collection of moments. When creating this it highlighted to me how fast our children grow. I’m feel blessed to have a hobby that lets us reflect and delight in these brief wonderful moments.

I hope you have been inspired to use this collection and make something memorable as I have.

Remember to stop by you local scrapbooking retailer and find out when you to can have this collection in your creative hands.

Happy Easter | Wild At Heart | Lauren Hender

By | 2017-04-16T14:36:04+00:00 April 16th, 2017|Wild at Heart|

Happy Easter and a big thank you for stopping in to the Cocoa Vanilla blog on this special day. I hope you are all surrounded by loved ones and if that is not possible you are tucked away scrapbooking something memorable.

While I was flicking through some photos earlier this week I came across this photo of my two adorable children on Easter in 2012. I couldn’t be more delighted to see this photo and compare how they have changed over the last five years.

This layout is 98% Wild at Heart, 1% Colour Me Happy and 1% Hello Lovely. That’s the beauty about all Cocoa Vanilla Studio ranges they all in some way coordinate. Shopping these collections is simple today.. just click HERE

This beautiful marble paper is perfect for an Easter layout. There is something about those magical swirls that make me wish they were on an egg.

In this layout I used some watered down white paint and pink to blend some of the patterned paper to soften it and draw the attention to the my photo. I then used a range of Wild at Heart patterned paper and layered them behind the photo using some foam and standard double sided tape.

I then added the areas of clustered embellishments around the photo. This is really the fun part. When your patterned paper is very busy you need to add lots of featured sections around you photo so that the photo really pops. This is what I hoped to achieve with balance and ensuring that I don’t take away from the photo.

I then added the chipboard title, some enamel dots and my journaling.

I showed my children the layout and they loved it. They laughed and giggled at how different they looked and the fun memories they had that Easter.

Thanks again for stopping by.. I’m off to have a fresh hot cross bun & a cup of tea.

Lauren xoxo
