Happy Monday, crafty peeps!

It’s Elodie on the blog today with a new layout featuring the super pretty Hello Lovely collection that you can find here in the CVS online store. I played along with last week’s summer theme and used a large photo of my little one playing on the beach a couple of years ago.

To go with this cute summery pic, I wanted to create a little scene and decided to make a shining sun on my page. And this design was just perfect for my little miss sunshine!

I started with the background and backed a piece of the Lucky Dip paper with the Flower Patch paper and its beautiful floral pattern.

To make the sun, I drew a circle on one side of the photo using a pan as a template and cut it following the pencil lines. I then handstitched the borders with white thread and placed it on the background with foam squares to make it stand out.

My next step was to embellish the borders of the picture with gorgeous Hello Lovely embellies: die cuts from the ephemera pack, enamel dots and a flair button for the title.

For the sunbeams, I used paper banners from the ephemera pack as well as strips that I cut out in the Delightful, Glimmer, Confetti, Lucky Dip and Flower Patch papers. I stamped the date on one of the banners, I gently folded up the sides of the strips to add a little more dimension to my layout and tucked them under the photo. I love how the colorful embellies and paper strips pop against the black and white photo and background!

I had a lot of fun creating this summer page and I hope it inspires you to go big and use large photos on your layouts! Thanks so much for visiting the CVS blog today! Wishing you a lovely day and a great week ahead!

Sweet Together | Wild at Heart | Elodie Lusseau

By | 2017-07-01T00:13:32+00:00 July 3rd, 2017|Design Team, Inspiration, Wild at Heart|

Hello everyone!

Elodie here today with a new page using the gorgeous Wild at Heart collection and a picture of my girls snapped in Turin back in April. This week is going to be all about the story on the CVS blog. For my layout, I went with typed journaling and told the story of the last day of our road trip to Italy last spring.

To echo this cute photo of my girls together, I went with the idea of the ampersand. I drew one on the beautiful Luscious paper using a template and cut it with craft scissors. I then layered it on squares that I cut out in the Grow Wild and Mariposa papers. I love the soft look of these pretty papers together!

I matted the pic with a piece of the Patchwork paper, placed it on the ampersand with foam squares and tucked a tag and a die cut from the ephemera pack under it. I then got busy adorning my paper ampersand with pretty Wild at Heart embellies: chipboard frames, fussy cut butterflies from the Mariposa paper, die cuts, a rubber charm, a chipboard piece, a wood veneer heart, a sticker and a wood veneer word for the title as well as a couple of enamel dots to add a bit of shine.

I don’t always use journaling on my layouts and, when I do, I tend to go for typed journaling. I usually print it on regular paper and cut it into strips that I glue only in the middle to add a little more dimension to my projects. Here, I placed my journaling strips on the left hand side of the page.

At that point, I felt like something was missing and decided to add a pop of color on the right side of the page with a piece of the lovely Double Dot paper. My layout was finally complete!

I hope this page inspires you to tell the story behind the photo and add journaling to your projects! Thank you so much for joining me today! Have a fantastic day!

Epic Fall | You Rock, Wild at Heart & Make A Wish | Elodie Lusseau

By | 2017-06-15T23:53:39+00:00 June 17th, 2017|Design Team, Inspiration, Make A Wish, Wild at Heart, You ROCK|

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Elodie here with you today and I’m happy to be back to share a new layout using the You Rock collection along with some Wild at Heart and Make A Wish goodies. This week is going to be all about seasons on the blog. Summer is almost here but I felt like making a fall page with a lot of pretty leaves and this cute photo of my little one snapped last October.

I started by drawing leaves using templates on several You Rock papers: Starshine, In Line, This Way, Stripped, Random and Galactic. I cut and handstitched them, adding transparent sequins on some of them. I then placed the leaves on the beautiful Experimental paper that I picked for my background. The pretty colors and woodgrain of the You Rock line are just perfect for fall pics!

I matted the photo with a piece of the Plus One paper and I adorned it with You Rock enamel shapes, a die cut from the ephemera pack and a tab from the Wild at Heart accessory stickers sheet. I then adhered it in the center of the page with foam squares to make it stand out.

For the title, I used a lovely You Rock rubber charm and Make A Wish alphabet stickers that I placed on a leaf. I then adorned other leaves with a You Rock die cut and word stickers, a Wild at Heart flair button and a paper piece from the ephemera pack and a shiny Make A Wish rhinestone.

To complete my fall page, I sprinkled embellies from the three collections on the background: You Rock enamel shapes, Wild at Heart die cuts and wood veneer hearts as well as Make A Wish sequins.

I had so much fun mixing these collections and I think they go beautifully together! I hope my page inspires you to mix and match CVS lines too!

Thank you for visiting the blog today! Have an awesome day!

Captured | You Rock | Elodie Lusseau

By | 2017-05-29T22:50:15+00:00 June 3rd, 2017|Design Team, Inspiration, You ROCK|

Hello crafty peeps!

Elodie here today with my first layout using the brand new You Rock collection that is now available in the Cocoa Vanilla Studio online store. This collection is perfect for documenting life with boys and it can also work wonders with girly projects! Here is the page I came up with, all about my oldest daughter taking a nap in her stroller a few years back.

The pretty stars in this collection were just what I needed with this pic of my sleeping beauty! I cut a large strip in the beautiful Galactic paper and placed it at the top of a white cardstock sheet. I backed my black and white photo with a piece of the colorful Stripped paper and adhered it in the center of the page with foam squares to make it pop.

My next step was to make tags in different sizes. I cut out four of them from the Stripped and This Way papers and made two little ones using the cute washi stickers. I adorned some of them with twine and hole reinforcers from my stash and layered them on either side of the photo.

I added You Rock embellies on the tags and on the pic: pretty wood veneer pieces, die cuts from the ephemera pack, cute enamel shapes, one of the awesome flair buttons and a tab from the accessory stickers sheet for the title. I then tucked a doily from my stash under the photo, along with another die cut and a word sticker.

To echo my sweet photo, I went with the idea of the mobile. I handstitched lines coming down from the doily and adorned them with colorful enamel dots and fussy cut stars from the Starshine paper. I love the soft look that the white on white stitching and doily give to the page!

I hope my layout inspires you to use this awesome collection for girly projects too! Thank you so much for joining me today! Wishing you a lovely day and a great weekend!

Hello You’re Awesome & You Rock | You Rock | Elodie Lusseau

By | 2017-05-13T07:32:27+00:00 May 17th, 2017|Design Team, Inspiration, You ROCK|

Hi there friends!

Elodie here today with a set of masculine cards using You Rock, Cocoa Vanilla Studio’s latest collection. It’s the first time I’m playing with it and it’s really awesome! The mix of vibrant colors and funky patterns makes for a fantastic line! I generally use girly supplies on my projects. So creating with this boy collection is pretty refreshing and so much fun!

For the base of my cards, I went with black and white and cut 6×6 squares in the pretty Night Sky and Random papers. I folded them in half and placed rectangles, that I cut out from the B-side of the Night Sky paper and from the Galactic paper, on the top of each card.

I then started embellishing and layered yummy You Rock embellies on the top of my cards: pretty die cuts from the ephemera pack, cute rubber charms, chipboard stickerswood veneer stars and a sticker from the accessory stickers sheet. I used a wood veneer word and one of the awesome flair buttons for the sentiments and I added more texture and a shiny touch to my cards with colorful enamel shapes.

Flair buttons, wood veneer and chipboard pieces are such a great way to add dimension to a project! I also used foam squares on some items to make them pop a bit more.

I had a lot of fun making these cards! I hope they inspire you to give card making a go and get your crafty hands on this amazing collection!

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Hello Lovely | Hello Lovely | Elodie Lusseau

Hello CVS friends!

It’s Elodie with you today sharing a new layout all about my sweet French Bulldog. It’s actually the first time I’m using the Hello Lovely collection and it’s beautiful! I love its girly patterns and soft colors mixed with a touch of black!

I was inspired by the gorgeous florals and decided to combine the Delightful and Glimmer papers for my background. I cut the Delightful paper diagonally so as to get triangles and I placed two of them at the top and at the bottom of the Glimmer paper.

To make the photo pop against the busy background, I decided to back it with a more neutral paper. I went for a heart and cut it out from the reverse side of the Delightful paper, with its pretty light pink color, and stitched the borders with white thread. I really like the texture and the soft look that the stitching and the white thread bring to the page!

I placed the heart in the center of the page, along with the pic and a doily from my stash, and then started embellishing. I tucked some beautiful flowers and a pretty ampersand from the ephemera pack under the photo.  I just can’t get enough of this floral pattern! Gorgeous!

I added paper corners and a pennant from the ephemera pack on the pic and adorned my paper heart with more Hello Lovely die cuts. I placed the title, along with a cute butterfly sticker from the accessory stickers sheet, under the photo, scattered shiny enamel dots on the die cuts and my layout was complete!

I love everything about this soft, beautiful line and I hope my page inspires you to play with it!

Thank you so much for joining me today! Have a fantastic day!

Yay | Make A Wish | Elodie Lusseau

By | 2017-04-26T17:43:44+00:00 April 17th, 2017|Design Team, Inspiration, Make A Wish|

Hello everyone!

Elodie here today with a new layout focusing on Easter. This time, I made a 8.5×11 page using the super pretty Make A Wish collection along with a sweet photo of my oldest daughter egg hunting in the garden back when she was 2. The soft, pastel colors of this line are perfect for Spring and Easter projects! There’s even a cute little bunny on the Party Mix paper!

For the background, I used white corrugated paper. I love the texture it gives to the page! I decided to go with a large photo this time. I backed it with the Loot Bag paper and placed it on the background with foam squares.

I then got busy making a banner under the photo using die cuts from the ephemera pack and pennants that I cut out from the Party Mix and Daydream papers. I adorned my banner with shiny sequins and pretty buttons from the bits & pieces pack.

I made little clusters at the bottom and at the top of the page with a doily that I cut in half and a pretty flower from the bits & pieces pack, paper pieces from the die cut ephemera pack, one of the flair buttons and a journaling strip with the date.

For the title, I went with a wood veneer word that I placed on the photo and adorned with a lovely butterfly from the ephemera pack, a button and sequins from the bits & pieces pack. To add dimension to my layout, I folded the paper pieces gently and used foam squares.

I love the festive Make A Wish line with its spring colors and patterns! I hope my layout inspires you to create with it and give 8.5×11 pages a try!

Thank you for visiting the CVS blog today! Wishing you a lovely day!
